Belda Edwards
ODESSA — Belda Priscilla Yates Edwards passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2003, at her home in Odessa. She was born August 8, 1941, in Manhattan N.Y.
Mrs. Edwards spent most of her life in Odessa, Texas. She spent five years working with Girl Scouts. She always had a love for the elderly. She spent 10 years as a CNA caring for the elderly and sick.
She was preceded in death by her father, B.W. Yates, and beloved stepmother, Tillie Marie Yates; her uncle, Wayne Yates; and late husband, Herman T. Edwards.
She is survived by a son, Tony and his wife, Terri Olguin; daughters Lena Goodwin and Tammy Piervincenti Chelf, both of Odessa; her mother, Violet Morgan of Heflin; sisters Suzi Yates of Odessa, Marie Farrington of Midland, Jodee Morgan of Garland, Becky Crepelle of Marksville,La., and Linda Gorman of Bossier City, La.; and a brother, Bobby Yates and wife, Peggy, of Doyline, La. She will be greatly missed by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Emmett Barnard officiating.

R. W. ‘Dutch’ Senn Sr.
ODESSA — R. W. “Dutch” Senn Sr., 71, passed away Friday, June 13, 2003, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born November 9, 1931, to Alvin Lee and Alma W. Senn in Haskell, Texas.
Dutch served in the U.S. Air Force and fought in the Korean Conflict. He married
Berndean Martin on April 23, 1976, in Odessa, she preceded him in death. He worked for G.Q. Salmon & Son Trucking Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a door greeter, a volunteer in the Church Food Bank, assisted cooking for youth groups and a member of the Booster Sunday School Class and church choir. He was involved in the mission work in Presidio and participated in youth mission trips. He served as president of the West Texas Singles Association. He was an active member in the N.R.A. He loved to travel and dance. He loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was active in the Texas National Guard and formerly a mail carrier in Lamesa. He raised 10 children.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Donnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
His wife and his parents preceded him in death.
Surviviors include his sons, Royce Wayne Senn Jr. of Kermit, Wes and Joe Senn and Jim Marsh, all of Odessa, and David Martin of Houston; sister, Jo Ann Eason of Stephenville, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the F.U.M.C. Presidio Mission in Ojinaga, Mexico.

Martina Vejil Lozano
ODESSA — Martina Vejil Lozano, 91, of Odessa passed away Monday, June 16, 2003, at Seabury Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1911 in Saragosa. She married
Frank Lozano in 1928 in Saragosa. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Lozano of Odessa; sons, Robert Lozano of Odessa and Frank Lozano Jr. of Big Spring; daughters, Hope Fenton of Odessa, Mary Ellen Ibarra, Carolina Benavides and Marcella Aranda, all of Fort Stockton, and Rachel Venne of San Antonio; brothers, Henry Vejil and Ernesto Vejil, both of Odessa; sisters, Virginia Pena of Pecos, Rosa Roman of Monahans and Rosalee Dominguez of Balmorhea; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be said 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Maurine Sperry
ODESSA — Maurine Alcorn Sperry was born on April 14, 1931, in San Angelo, Texas, and died June 14, 2003, in Irving, Texas, at the age of 72.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Clarence Sperry, and her father, Lloyd C. Alcorn.
She is survived by her children, Lynda Sperry Opitz of Irving and Billy Clarence Sperry of Houston; and her grandchildren, Dana Marie Opitz of Miami and Marc Douglas Opitz of College Station. Other survivors include her mother, Elsie Martin Alcorn of Odessa; her sisters, Imogene Alcorn Pilcher of Odessa and Mary Grace Alcorn Van Cleve of Arlington; and brother, Lloyd C. Alcorn and wife, Suzanne Boyd Alcorn, of McGregor; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sperry was a 1948 graduate of Odessa High School and attended Odessa Junior College. Through the years, she worked for various oil and gas related companies in Midland. She was a long time resident of Midland, Texas, where her family had a membership in the First Baptist Church.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Irving Baylor Hospital and Vitas Hospice for the loving care she received during her last days.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Highway Midland, Texas.
Mary Maxine Elling Mayse
ODESSA — Mary Maxine Elling Mayse, age 78, of Woodbury, Minn., formerly of Odessa, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2003.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her daughter, Patirica Ann Kimbrough and her husband, Dennis; her son, Michael Robert Mayse and his wife, Betsy; and by her grandchildren, Nathan Kimbrough and wife, Kim, Terri Kimbrough Schwarz and husband, Mike, Gena Elizabeth Mayse, Eric Elling Mayse and Evan Michael Mayse; as well as her many other friends and relatives. She is survived by her brother, Homer Elling and wife, Jackie; and sister, Helen Boles; plus five great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brooke, Joe, Damon and Emily.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith Leon Mayse; father, Carl George Elling; mother, Mary Mudge Elling; step-mother, Frances Elling; and brothers, Carl Jr., Roland “Rock”, Ed and John Elling.

A. E. ‘Ben’ Brewster
ODESSA — A. E. “Ben” Brewster, 88, of Odessa, died Friday, June 20 in Odessa. He was born in Blanket, Texas, a farming community outside of Brownwood, on Feb. 13, 1915, to Jacob Landers and Mary Matilda (Elliott) Brewster.
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Deines officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Ben attended school in Blanket. After graduation, he worked in Brownwood, then in Wink in the oilfields. When he returned to Brownwood he met and married
Ernestine Boatright in 1939. He spent World War II working for the railroad. Ben found his niche in sales as a new car salesman at Weatherby’s Ford Motor Company in Brownwood. He and his family moved to Odessa in 1952, where he worked at Boatright Trailer Sales as a salesman for many years. His last job was with H&K Armored Car Service, where he worked for 10 years until his retirement in 1985. He was an avid sports enthusiast throughout his life. Ben and Ernestine were constant companions throughout their 63 years of marriage. He moved to Avalon Place in April of 2003 after an illness of several years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Brewster of Odessa; daughter, Beverly Brewster of Odessa; sons, Tom Brewster and wife Kay of Sapulpa, Okla., Dennis Brewster and wife Sally of Abilene and Scott Brewster and wife Mary of Rio Rancho, N.M.; grandchildren, Sheila Brewster Armour and husband Donald Armour, Sonya Brewster, Rhett Brewster and wife Danielle, Devin Brewster, Heidi Brewster Brantingham and husband Heath and Heather Brewster; great-grandchildren, Zachary Zaloudek, Nathan Zaloudek, Eleah Brewster and Analesse Brewster; sisters Opal Brewster and Ruth Inman, both of Ballinger.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be make to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Howard ‘Rocky’ Herbert Byrom
ODESSA — Howard “Rocky” Herbert Byrom, 81, of Odessa, passed away June 19, 2003, at Avalon Place Nursing Center in Odessa.
He was born Dec. 23, 1921, in San Antonio to Howard Herbert and Audry McDow Byrom. He married
Brenda Banks on May 23, 1983, in San Antonio.
He was a retired Coast Guard veteran and a Christian Baptist.
He was a supervisor for Freight Line Co. in Louisiana. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Banks Byrom of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews and his church family.
Visitation will be today at Odessa Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Graveside service will be held in San Antonio at Ft. Sam Houston cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Joe Walts officiating.

Irene ‘Little Mama’ French
CRANE — Irene “Little Mama” French, 78, of Crane and a former resident of Odessa, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Crane Nursing Home. She was born July 11, 1924, in Herring, Okla. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal Faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Florence Fowler and her husband, Elbert E. French.
She is survived by her son, Louie French and wife Barbara of Odessa; daughter, Lucille Brown Freeze and husband Jerry of Monahans; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to the Crane Nursing Home and staff for such loving and special care given to “Frenchie.” And a special thanks to Odyssey Hospice also.

Allison H. Johnson
ODESSA — Allison H. Johnson, 44, passed away June 20, 2003, at her residence in Odessa. She was born April 24, 1959, to Jimmy and Joann Holman in Springhill, La. Her mother preceded her in death.
Allison moved here in the early ’60s from Louisiana. She graduated from Permian High School in 1977.
She married
Earl Johnson June 21, 1985, in Midland and worked for Houston Copeland State Farm Insurance and Joyce Tolbert Allstate. She was on the Board of Realtors, president of BNI and a Moms In Touch International group leader
Allison loved people, working, reading and swimming. She enjoyed crafts and decorating.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Johnson of Odessa; daughters, Amy Johnson of Odessa and Melissa Johnson of San Antonio; father, Jimmy Holman and wife, Mary of Odessa; mother-in-law, Gertrude Johnson of Midland; brothers, Eddie Holman and Robert Holman and wife Kay, all of Odessa; step-brothers, Robert Thomas and wife, Donna; Randy Thomas and wife, Stacy; and Blayne Doubrava and wife, Tammy; sister, Sandra Adcock and husband Larry; brothers-in-law, Donnie Johnson and wife Diana of Odessa; Jerry Lyons and wife Linda of Midland; step-sisters, Pam Sherer, Kim Grimaud and husband Andy and Sabrina Bartosh; nieces, Kimberly Johnson and Courtney Johnson; nephews, T.J. Holman, Greg Holman, Bobby Franklin, Rusty Franklin, Pat Johnson and Kyle Johnson.
