Mivan Woodfin
SAN ANGELO — Mivan Arcola Shipman Woodfin, born August 13, 1937, in Eagle Pass, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 12, 2003.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Jaree Woodfin; brother, Michael Lang Shipman; and sister, Myrna Haney.
She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 47 years, Lloyd Neal Woodfin Sr.; two daughters, Pamela Beth Bethune and Arcola Diane John and her husband, Haydn; and two sons, Lloyd Neal Woodfin Jr. and his wife, Sheri, and Jarrod Lee Woodfin and Angelica Chavez.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Jerry Don Woodfin and his wife, Danielle, Heather Janae Kwolek and her husband, Aaron, Shannon Denise John, Brandon Matthew John, Whitney Evette Woodfin, Davis Neal Smith Woodfin and Elijah Daniel Woodfin; and great-grandchildren, Jaylea Nicole Woodfin, Samantha Nicole Holley, Dawson Jack Woodfin and David Michael Kwolek. She is also survived by two brothers, Ed Shipman and Royce Shipman; sister, Veneta Herrington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Ray Herrington, Doug and Nell Woodfin and Sherry Hasty; and her many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd and Mivan were married
on October 3, 1955, in Carlsbad, N.M., and were never apart for more than a day. They loved each other dearly and were an example of a perfect marriage. Mivan was the best wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister that anyone could ever hope for, and she loved everyone with all her heart. She was loved more deeply than she could ever imagine, and she will be missed greatly until we meet her again in heaven some day. Mivan was superwoman. The only thing she could not do was fly; she is complete because now she can do that. We love you, Maw Maw!
She was a member of Baptist Temple Church and her faith in the Lord was an inspiration to all her family.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Baptist Temple Church with J. D. “Skip” Woodfin officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Sandy Driggers
ODESSA — Our beloved Sandy left this world on April 18, 2003. Although her life was short in years, it was long in compassion, care and love for her fellow man, especially children.
Sandra Leigh Kappes was born on June 18,1944, to Mary and Herbert Kappes in Odessa, Texas. She married
Max Driggers on February 11, 1961, in Odessa and later moved to Austin in 1969. Their union of 42 years was blessed with three wonderful children: Maxine Chappell and husband, Steve, of Southlake; Stephen Driggers and wife, Penny, of Colorado; and Eric Driggers and wife, Tina, of Round Rock. “Gran” was cherished by her seven adoring grandchildren: Tony, Erin, Austin, Jeremiah, Micah, Brandon, and Peyton.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Kappes of Dallas; her sister, Linda Stigler and husband, Johnny, of Euless; and her brother Terry Kappes and wife, Debbie, of Odessa.
The family will welcome visitors on Saturday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Beck Funeral Home on FM 620 in Austin. Services will be lead by Stephen Driggers and are scheduled for Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the Liberty Hill cemetery on Highway 29.
Marcellene Miller
ODESSA — Marcellene Miller was born June 6, 1933 in Midland and lived the majority of her life in Odessa.
She passed away Monday April 14, 2003 at the age of 69. Marcellene married
Gene Miller on June 6, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Miller worked as a receptionist many years for various hair salons. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Miller easily made friends of everyone with her genuine concern and love of people. She always had a smile and pleasant word of welcome to greet her family, friends and customers.
Survivors include daughter, Debra Nix and husband Don of Slidell, LA; sons, Marc Miller and wife Jeana, and Phil Miller, all of Odessa. Other survivors include her five grandchildren, Kyle Nix, Clay Nix, Charity and her husband Jason Nelson, Jennifer and her husband Wayne Childs and Krista Miller.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Frank W Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel, 4635 Oakwood with Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Osbaldo ‘Obie’ H. Aragon
Our father, Osbaldo H. Aragon of Odessa made his journey to be with the Lord on April 11, 2003, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born on October 29, 1953, in Pecos, TX to Alicia Herrera.
He touched everyone he met with his laughter and his wit.
Obie was employed by Oxy Permian, USA in 1973 and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. His loves included his family, softball, cars and oldies music. His passion for life and his strength to live were some of his greatest attributes.
Obie is survived by his wife Estela Aragon, four children, Rebecca Aragon Rizo, Stephen Osbaldo Aragon, Erica Lisa Aragon and Christian Lee Aragon; four granddaughters, Hailea Aragon, Malone Lara, Zandria Aragon and Tabitha Aragon; three sisters, Yolanda Aragon, Olga Jacobs and Aurora Aragon; and goddaughter Heather Dominguez.
The family will be accepting visitors April 13, 2003, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, 4635 Oakwood Dr.
Graveside services will be held April 14, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Don Frankhauser officiating with memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m. at Life Unlimited Church.

Amber Danielle Goolsby
ODESSA — Amber Danielle Goolsby, 17, of Odessa, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Odessa. She was born to Mike and Beth Goolsby November 5, 1985, in Odessa.
She was a junior at Permian High School. Amber was in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She loved dancing, music, and her family and friends. She also loved her family at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Odessa with Rev. Jimmy Law officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kenneth Guinn, and uncle, Danny Goolsby.

Bobbie Curry
ODESSA — Bobbie Curry, retired Registered Surgical Nurse, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Home Hospice in Odessa, Texas. She was born December 26, 1922, in Lindale, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Coleman Curry, her mother, Versie Hicks Hoodenpyle, step-father, Thomas Hoodenpyle, and her brother, Billy Curry.
Bobbie worked for Medical Center Hospital for 35 years as an assistant O.R. Supervisor, prior to her retirement in 1987. Bobbie was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II.
Mrs. Curry is survived by her long-time friend of 40 years, caregiver, and guardian, Oralia “Lollie” Castelo; her nieces, Barbara Wester and husband, Ronnie, Ann Sroud and husband, Mike; sister-in-law, Sylvia Curry; and two great-nephews, all from Amarillo. Another long-time, surviving friend, who through Bobbie’s generosity and genuineness, saw her as a second mother, is Jerome McChristian, wife Kim, and daughters Kayla and Haley.
Mrs. Curry touched many lives and will be greatly missed. She was always ready to lend a hand, helped countless through her work as a nurse, and even more through her life as a friend.
She had been a resident of Parks Nursing Home for the past one and a half years. A memorial will be held at Odessa Funeral Home at 6 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2OO3. She will be interred at Highland Park cemetery in Borger, Texas.

ODESSA — Lewis Templeton Newsom, 90, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Leascher officiating.
Lewis was born in Bell Co., Texas, Sept. 24, 1912. He grew up in Haskell, Texas, where he married
Zula Gay Matthews in 1935. Daddy, affectionately known as “Pap” was a very hard working, fun, loving carpenter and building contractor, but was a farmer at heart, planting gardens and fruit trees. He loved fishing on the Rio Grande and had many outlandish tales he enjoyed sharing.
Daddy loved people and had many friends, who, with his family know what a very special spirit he had. Daddy and Mother loved each other very much and are now in the Lord’s prepared mansions for them. He was the best father God could have given us and taught us the right way. His memory will be forever in our hearts. Thank you Lord for taking him home.
He is survived by a daughter, Janie Cotton and her husband, J.D.; a son, Truett Newsom; four grandchildren, Brian Rankin, Lee Ann Cody, Landon Newsom and wife, Heather, and Melanie Newsom; two sisters, Nadine “Boot” Crider and Julia “Tune” Young; and two great-grandchildren.

Lucille Catherine Weston
ODESSA — Lucille Catherine Weston, 89, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003, at the Hospice House. She was born August 14, 1913, to William and Ida Mae Holder in Oklahoma City, Okla. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University Of Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she had worked as an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher. She was active in the Republican Women’s Organization. She also served on the Board of C.P.W. and as an Election Judge. She had served as P.T.A. president at Lamar Elementary School when Gayle Smith was the Principal.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin A. Weston in 1964; son, William C. in 2000; and brother, Billy Everett Holder in 1986.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Robert Weston of Huntsville, Ala., and Mark A. Weston of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Delores Weston of Grapevine; three grandchildren, Michael Eric Weston, Catherine Irene Olfers and Robert Andrew Weston; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Craig Martindale officiating. Graveside services will be held 4 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at the Stroud City cemetery in Stroud, Okla.
