Finis Ray Alley
ODESSA — Finis Ray Alley, 70, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003, at his residence. He was born September 20, 1932, in Van Alstyne, Texas. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a local businessman formerly with Odessa Glass Co. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ruth Alley; and his wife, Kay Frances Alley.
He is survived by his sons, William Ray Alley and Robert Dale Alley, both of Killeen, Texas, and Darrell Keith Alley of Rosenberg, Texas; sister, Clara Faye Johnston of Odessa; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and longtime companion, Barbara Duncan of Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Emmett Barnard officiating.
Memorials may be made to Home Hospice.

Jesse Jenkins
ODESSA — Jesse Jenkins went home to his Lord Sunday, April 6, 2003.
He was soul mate and the love of a lifetime to his wife Donna. They were blessed in marriage for more than 39 years.
Jesse was born March 26, 1939, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He grew up in the nearby community of Cookville. Jesse has been employed by Texas Mail for the past 19 years.
Jesse is survived by wife, Donna Jenkins; daughter, Debbie Madden; and grandson, Clint Gray of Odessa; daughter, Kathy McMillian; and grandchildren, Leanna and Michael of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Melvin Jenkins; and sisters, Mildred Cassidy and Carolyn Matthews. Also, numerous lifetime friends of Colorado City and Odessa.
His time with us on earth has ended, but he wished all to know that as he crossed the river his final conscious thoughts were of his love for wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
John G. McFarlen
ODESSA — John G. “Mac” McFarlen, 88, of Odessa died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at home. Mac was born November 22, 1914, in Hatchel, Texas.
He was a paratrooper in the Pathfinders unit of the 101st Airborne and was the first enlisted man to land on Normandy on D-Day.
Mac married
Emma Lucille Minshew on February 8, 1947. They were married
56 years. He is survived by his wife, one son, three daughters, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
Mac was a cement contractor. He was a life member of the VFW Post #4372. He served as Post Commander from 1967-1968 and as District Commander from 1968-1969.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
Mac’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will greatly miss their “Papaw.”

Viola Florene ‘Flo’ Moore
FORT WORTH — Viola Florene “Flo” Moore, 89, passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, in Fort Worth.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Seale-Round Prairie cemetery in Robertson County. Visitation was held Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth.

Flo Moore was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Robertson County to Major and Belle Godwin Bumpurs. She attended Sam Houston State College in Huntsville then taught school for several years.
She lived in Odessa for about 25 years and was the owner and operator with her sister, Madge White Wallace, of the “The Teen-Age Shops.” She moved from Odessa to Fort Worth in 1963 and began working for Neiman Marcus, eventually becoming manager of the children’s department in the Fort Worth store.
She was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church and later Southcliff Baptist Church. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all those who called her sister, friend, Aunt Flo and Aunt Granny. She leaves us with a legacy of faith, devotion to her family and good humor that will keep her spirit with us always.
Survivors include a niece, Dr. Joy White Edwards of Fort Worth; nephew, H.C. “Buddy” White of Grand Prairie; sisters, Madge White Wallis of Fort Worth; brother, Deward Bumpurs of Bryan; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Donald Lee Tomson
KERMIT — Mr. Donald Lee Tomson, loving husband and dad, departed from his Earth family to be united with his Heavenly family on Friday, April 4, 2003, after a brief bout with cancer. He was 69.
Donald was born on Thursday, Dec. 28, 1933, in St. Joseph, Mo., to the late George and Buelah (Hughes) Tomson.
He was mayor of Wink for several years, where he spent his career working for Chevron Pipeline USA as an electrical technician and raising his family. After living in Colorado for a short time, he returned to West Texas. Before retiring, he enjoyed managing the Winkler County Pro Shop and golfing almost daily. As a Christian, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kermit.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Tomson of Kermit; a daughter, Cindy Duke and son-in-law, Kevin, of Pecos; six grandchildren: Tye and Trey Edwards and Nathan and Coe Duke, all of Pecos, and Zachary and Marissa Tomson of Stamford; a sister, Lucille Alvis of San Angelo; a sister-in-law, Wanda Tomson of Houston and Brandy.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Tomson, and a brother, Joseph F. Tomson.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at First United Methodist Church in Kermit with the Rev. Beth Harrington officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit cemetery.

Augustine Valencia Sr.
ODESSA — Augustine Portillo Valencia Sr., 81 years of age, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2003, at his Odessa residence. He was born on April 14, 1921 in Ft. Stockton, Texas. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Marines during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Eulalia Valencia; son, Ismael Valencia; daughter, Maria Elena Valencia; and sister, Concepcion Baeza. He is survived by his wife, Manuela Valencia of Odessa; sons, David Valencia Sr. and his wife, Irma, Augustine Valencia Jr. and wife, Audelia, Johnny Valencia, Armando Valencia and Sammy Valencia and his wife, Maria, all of Odessa; daughters, Yolanda V. Bernal, Carmen Cervantes, Adelaida Doporto and husband, George, all of Odessa; brothers, Domingo Valencia and wife, Eloisa, Jose Valencia Jr. and wife, Emma, all of Midland; sisters, Consuelo Fuentes and husband, Victor, of Odessa and Margarita Gonzalez of Ft. Stockton; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday April 7, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Valencia Jr., Augustine Valencia III, Jesse Eddie Cervantes, Joseph Valencia, Derek Valencia and Joe Angel Bernal.

John Muxworthy III
ODESSA — John Frederick Muxworthy III, 51, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born November 22, 1951, in Burlington, Vt.
John graduated from Permian High School in 1969 and later received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He was the owner of Sirloin Stockade Restaurants in Hobbs, Carlsbad and Albuquerque, New Mexico, for over 15 years. He and his wife returned to Odessa three years ago.
John loved to fly. He never met a stranger. Anything that anyone asked him to do, he would gladly assist them. He was a friend to everyone. His constant companions were Tex, Cooter and Oreo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John F. Muxworthy Jr., Virginia Muxworthy and his father-in-law, Lue Tennison.
He is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend of 20 years, Barbara Muxworthy of Odessa; step-son, Dr. Todd Odom and wife, Maria, of University Park; brother, Neil W. Muxworthy and wife, Lynn, of Hamilton; sister, Jody Muxworthy Woodward of Rochester, N.Y.; mother-in-law, June Tennison of Okmulgee, Okla.; brother-in-law, L.V. Thomas Joseph Cunningham Jr.
ODESSA — Thomas Joseph “Tommy” Cunningham Jr., affectionately known as “Pops” to his grandchildren, departed this life Thursday, March 3, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Tommy was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Erie, Pa., to Thomas and Lettie Cunningham. After the death of his mother, Tommy was adopted by Roy and Mae Schwartzcop.
Tommy proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving during World War II. Tommy married
Stella Cato June 3, 1950 in Houston.
He earned his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston and worked for Dresser Atlas for 37 years.
On July 10, 1996, Tommy came to work at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. This was Tommy’s love, getting to work with all the families and his great friends at Frank W. Wilson’s.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stella Cunningham; sons, Mike Cunningham and Pat Cunningham and his wife, Laura; daughter, Dianne Postelle; five grandchildren, Nick, Max and Hunter Cunningham, Alison Postelle and Tommy Holman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Bill Wilson and Carolyn and Al Hardey.
