ABILENE — Patricia Dea Moore, 51, of Abilene, formerly of Merkel, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at an Abilene nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Merkel First United Methodist Church with the Revs. James Merrell and Curtis Bentley officiating. Arrangements are by Starbuck Funeral Home.
She was born in Merkel and was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. She worked for Abilene State School for 13 years and as a school nurse for Abilene Independent School District for 13 years.
SURVIVORS: Father, Laverne Moore of Big Spring; sisters, Twyla Greenfield of Odessa and Gloria Isom of Sweetwater.
Darrell Quaid
STANTON — Darrell Van Quaid, 66, of Stanton, a farmer and retired employee of Texas Electric, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at a Ruidoso, N.M. hospital.
Services will be at 10 at Saturday at the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton with the Rev. Van Pendergrass officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery Stanton. Arrangements are by Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
He was born in Comanche, Okla. He was a member of Downtown Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Glynda Quaid of Stanton; son, Robert Quaid of Stanton; daughters, Debbie Thompson and Jackie McDaniel, both of Stanton, and Trina Springer of Midland; sisters, Gay Coston of Borger, Lelia Bryant, Lavern Robinson and Dena Baggett, all of Odessa; and nine grandchildren.
Marjorie Payne
ANDREWS — Marjorie “Marge” Payne, 78, of Wichita Falls, a homemaker, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at the W. Erle and Emma White Hospice Center in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Andrews West cemetery with the Rev. Terri H. Perkins officiating. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She was born in Hardtner, Kan. and moved to Wichita Fall in 1993 from Andrews. She was a homemaker.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Robert M. Payne of Wichita Falls; daughter, Janet Lasseter of Wichita Falls; son, Robert E. Payne of Midland; sister, Verna Dutton of Mulvane, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

MONAHANS — Evelyn Harriet Vining, 99, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at her residence.

She was born in Piper, Kan.

MERKEL — Willie Bell Williams, 58, of Midland, a cook and seamstress for Wall’s Manufacturing, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel with the Rev. Phil Babcocks officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Starbuck Buck Funeral Home.
She was born in Welder and was a member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church.

Beatrice ‘Marie’ Chesser
ODESSA — Beatrice “Marie” Chesser went to be with her Lord on May 5, 2003. She was born in San Saba, Texas, on July 18, 1926. She was raised on a farm as the youngest of seven children. Marie left the farm as a teenager to pursue an education. Shortly after graduating business college, she moved to Goldsmith to begin employment.
Marie’s occupational pursuit not only granted her the opportunity to provide for herself, but an introduction to her future husband. She married
Billy Joe Chesser and had two children. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and tending to her flowers. Marie was very active in the church and a respected member of her community.
She is survived by her brother, Roderick Quain; her sister, Josie Hughes; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 2011 N. Washington, in Odessa. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
