Johnny Singletary
ODESSA — Funeral services for Johnny Singletary, 68, of Lake Haven, Lake Brownwood, Texas, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2003, in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Justice and Rev. Lynn Turnbow officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Singletary died, Thursday morning, May 8, 2003, at his residence in Lake Haven, Lake Brownwood, Texas.
He was born August 17, 1934, to Benjyman Joseph and Elizabeth Melvina Sherrill Singletary in Durant, Oklahoma. He married
Dorothy Nell Pilcher in Eunice, New Mexico, April 25, 1957.
He was self-employed operating the Hi-Tech Pest Control Company for seven years. He was in the National Guard, had lived in Lake Haven for the past twelve years, and was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nell Singletary of Lake Haven, Lake Brownwood, Texas; two daughters, Patricia Singletary of Odessa, Texas, and Teresa LaNell Winkler of Pearland, Texas; and son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Gail Allen of Mansfield, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Dollie Mae Cantera of Glenpool, Okla., Bennie Faye Smith of Atoka, Okla., Mary Lee Truitt of Goldthwaite, Texas, Patsy Jo Whitstone of Mineral Wells, Texas, Helen Ann Lewis of Monahans, Texas, Wanda Jean Briggs of Gardendale, Texas, Virginia Sherlene Haskins of Odessa, Texas, Junior Singletary of Lake Brownwood, Texas, and Linda Nelson of Frazee, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjyman Joseph and Elizabeth Melvina Sherrill Singletary; and a sister, Billy Jay Duffy of Dickerson, Texas.

ODESSA - Jose Soto Guerra, 60, a machinist for the oil industry, of Odessa, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Buenas Nuevas Assembly of God with the Rev. Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was born in Crystal City.

MONAHANS - Caleb Michael Holly, 1-year-old son of Greg and Keli Holly of Monahans, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, in Lubbock.

Ruben Lopez Macias
ODESSA — Ruben Lopez Macias, 22, was born February 27, 1981, in Portales, N.M., to father, Ruben Lopez, and mother, Irma Macias. Ruben was a Christian. Ruben died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Church of Christ on Sixth and Jackson with Pastor Raymundo Calzadias officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Irma Macias of Odessa; sister, Mirna Mujica of Andrews; brother, Jesus Antonio Mujica of Fort Bragg, N.C.; grandparents, Armando and Elva C. TRINITY - Jake Eddie Johnson, 93, of Odessa, a retired postal worker, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Huntsville Memorial hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lone Star Mission Baptist Church in Trinity with the Rev. E.J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Bliss in El Paso. Arrangements by Johnson Funeral Home of Madisonville.

ODESSA — Jose Soto Guerra, 60 years of age, passed away on Aug. 8, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born on May 19, 1943, in Crystal City, Texas, to Jose and Cleta Guerra. He married
Rebeca Bernal on Dec. 3, 1963, in Ruby, Texas. A machinist for the oil industry, he was employed with Brown Well Service, Texas Reamer, General Tire and Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hilario and David Guerra; and sister, Gregoria Avila.
He is survived by his wife, Rebeca Guerra of Odessa; son, Joe Guerra and wife Delilah of Odessa; daughters, Sandra Hill, Diana Martinez and husband Carlos, Debbie Baiza and husband Alfredo and Rebecca Nicole Guerra, all of Odessa; brothers, Francisco Guerra of Crystal City, Fortunato Guerra of Grand Prairie and Guadalupe Guerra of Seattle; sisters, Juana Hernandez and Dora Guerra, both of Grand Prairie, Pime Cervantes and Dominga Mata, both of Crystal City and Maria Angela Guerra of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Janie Louise McKinney
MIDLAND — Janie Louise McKinney passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 in Midland, Texas.
Janie McKinney was born on April 12, 1916, to JPH and Lottie McMullan in Bronte, Texas. Janie was reared and educated in Midland, Texas. She married
SR McKinney on Aug. 21, 1937, in Odessa, Texas. Janie worked for First National Bank and various oil companies. Janie was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church. Janie McKinney was a beloved wife and mother and she will be missed dearly.
Janie McKinney is preceded in death by her parents; and her late husband, SR McKinney, who passed away on April of 1976.
Janie is survived by three daughters, Lucille Don Juan, Patricia Bishop and Sally Buys; one brother, JPH McMullan Jr. and wife Betty; and one sister, Wanda Creech, all of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren, Juan and Barbara Flores, Luisa and Scott Turner and their son Wesley, Ami Buys and Jesse Milstead; great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and Tamu, our mother’s beloved friend and faithful companion.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at Resthaven Memorial Park with Dr. Jerry Hilton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Scott Alan Scown
ALPINE — Scott Alan Scown passed away at home after a sudden illness August 6,2003.
He was born in Alpine, Texas on December 14, 1962. Scott graduated from Alpine High School in 1981. He received his Professional Chefs Degree from the Culinary institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in 1983.
He was employed at the Dominion Country Club and various hotels and country clubs throughout San Antonio area as a pastry chef. He returned to Alpine in 2002 and was employed at the Bread and Breakfast Restaurant. Scott will be remembered for the beautiful cakes he made for an innumerable number of weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and parties throughout the Big Bend area.
Scott is remembered as a kind and caring soul, who always thought of others. He had an abundance of friends and everywhere he went be made additional friends. Scott was easy to know and to love. Scott was loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his parents Ted and Emily Scown of Alpine; sisters, Barbara Scown of Pecos and Paula Morehead; brothers, Steven and Russell Scown of Alpine; nephews, Jeremy Morehead of Carrollton, Georgia, Seth Scown of Ajo, Arizona, Justin Scown of San Angelo, Texas; nieces, Emery and Allyson Scown of Alpine; three grandnephews; and one grandniece; and numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2003, at the Holland Hotel in Alpine, to share and celebrate his life.
