ODESSA — Funeral services for Kaitlen Bernice Parker, age 16 months, of Odessa are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Kaitlen passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in Lubbock at Covenant Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, Jason and Yolanda Parker of Odessa; grandparents, Terry Parker Sr. of Lamesa, Linda and Calvin Edwards of Fayetteville, Texas, Vicky and Robert Callahan of Brownwood; her great-grandparents, Bernice Chandler and Roy Don Chandler of Odessa, Cleo Parker of Lamesa and Lue and June Callahan of Stockton, California.

Lola Whitley
GREENWOOD — Lola Mae Whitley, 82, left this earth to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2003, while surrounded by her loving daughters at her residence in Greenwood.
Lola will be missed by her many family members and friends for her quick smile and wit but most of all for her lifelong walk with the Lord. She served as a spiritual example for all who knew her.
Lola will be missed on the prayer chain, where she always prayed for the health, happiness and well-being of others on a daily basis. Lola will forever be remembered as a “prayer warrior” who touched the hearts of many with prayers that were heartfelt and meaningful. Her prayers at Thanksgiving and Christmas gave her family members gentle reminders of how blessed they were while never forgetting to give praise and thanks.
Lola was born June 29, 1920, in Henrietta, Texas, to Charlie and Viola Hulme.
She married
Garland Whitley on December 22, 1935. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1986.
She moved to Midland in 1991 from Colorado City. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. Survivors include her four daughters and three sons-in-law: Clara and Darell Smith of Kingsland, Texas; Wanda and Jimmy Ludewell of Odessa, Texas; Linda and Danny Dosher of Amarillo, Texas; and Donna Chancellor of Midland, Texas. Also, her three sisters, Icie Stephens of Lubbock, Texas; Ruby Moore of Colorado City, Texas; and Doris Jones of Lubbock, Texas; and one brother; Sam Hulme of Dublin, Texas.
Grandchildren: Craig Smith of Rankin; Cindy Reed of Greenwood; Kevin Smith of Greenwood; Suzie Doland of Lewisville; Jimmy Ludewell, Scott Ludewell and Laura Dennis, all of Odessa; Deanna Hetherwick, Debbie Dosher, D.J. Dosher and Donna Dosher all of Amarillo; and Traci Chancellor of Midland.
Great-grandchildren: Brandon, Cole, Cade and Shane Smith; Chad and Haley Smith; Chris and Ryan Reed; Amy and Katie Doland; Zac and Casey Dennis; Kymberlee Dosher; Justin Hetherwick; Shaylee and Dylan Dosher; and Caden and Mason Kidd.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the Greenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Wayman Swopes, pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood cemetery,10908 FM 307, Midland, TX 79706. Memorials are suggested to the Home Hospice of Midland, 901 W. Missouri, Midland, TX 79701 or to Greenwood Baptist Church.

Forrest "Frosty" Gilliam Sr.
Forrest "Frosty" Gilliam Sr., 68, of Odessa, passed away Friday, May 23, 2003 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 1, 1934 in Roan Mountain, Tenn. to H.G. and Jeanette Tipton Gilliam.
He married
Betty Sue Wallace on Nov. 17, 1955 in Gate City, Va. Frosty was the owner and president of Temperature Evaluation Service Company until his retirement in 1996. Following his retirement he became an avid golfer, where he formed many lasting friendships on the golf course. Many who were known as "Frosty’s Pigeons." He was a long time member of Temple Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Rogers officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Madden, Dick Gillham, Roland Gladden, Jim Howard, Neil Marshall, Jim Morris, John Murphy and Tom Tilley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Pritchard, Tommy McClaine, Leroy Shotwell, J.W. Helton and Eddie Thompson. Burial will be private. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was preceded in death by his father, H.G. Gilliam and his sister, Jean Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Gilliam of Odessa; sons Frosty Gilliam Jr. and wife Rhonda of Odessa and Tim Gilliam and wife Rhynda of Maybank; grandchildren, Matt Gilliam and Laura Gilliam of Odessa and Jeremiah Gilliam of Maybank; mother, Jeanette Gilliam of Kingsport, Tenn.; sisters, Doris Carter, Betty Crawford, Lou Dorcey, all of Kingsport, Tenn.; and Kim Fitzgerald, of Houston.
Frosty was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Lester Malec
Lester Malec, 77, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 13, 1925, in Wodjch, Poland. He served in the Polish Army. He worked 30 years for National Starch Chemical Corp. He was a Catholic.
He is survived by his wife Doris Malec of Odessa, daughters, Theresa Miller and husband John of Chicago, Ill., Emma Lee Mortellaro of Indianapolis, Ind., sister Vicha Saconney of Paris, France, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.

Howard Wright Davis
ROCKSPRING — Howard Wright Davis, 82, of Rocksprings, went home to be with the Lord May 22, 2003 at his home in Rocksprings. He was born June 17, 1920 to James and Helen Davis in Sonora. He was reared in Edwards County and served in the United States Navy during World War II, which also includes the infamous attack at Pearl Harbor. After the war, he returned to complete his college education at Texas A&M.
Howard married
Wanda Matthews on Sept. 28, 1946 in Rocksprings. They moved to Pecos where he was a cotton farmer and a rancher. Later he was elected county commissioner. When Howard and Wanda decided to retire they came back to the great Texas hill country.
Howard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Davis of Rocksprings; son, Dennis Davis and wife Susan of Brandon, Miss.; daughters, Cathy Davis Moore of Dallas and D’anndra and husband Eddie of Orange; grandchildren, Chad Davis, Drew, Sarah and James Davis, Misty and Matt Moore and Cody Commander; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Davis.
Howard included in his family circle John and Sheri Smith and their children, John Jr. and Judy of Dallas; Red and Rena Jo Johnson, of Rockspring, Rick and Julie Fairchild and their children, Rick Jr., Lucas, Amanda and Yale of Dallas.
He is also survived by two brothers, Leonard and David Davis; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
Pallbearers are Ray Craig, Eddie Sweeten, Donnie Merritt, Rodney Merritt, Donnie Bippers, Jack Davis, Dave Davis and Jim Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Ragland, Dennis Pheiffer and Lee Wade.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Rocksprings. Interment will follow in the Rocksprings cemetery with the Rev. Ron Van Der Weert officiating.

Mar Lou Dyer-Davis
Mar Lou Dyer-Davis, of Big Spring, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2003. She passed away at her home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with her niece, Rev. Raye Nell Dyer, Chaplain of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Nashville, Tenn. officiating and Rev. Kevin Parker, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1928 in Ranger and moved to Big Spring in 1942. She married
Hubert H. Dyer on Jan. 17, 1946; he preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1986. She then married
R. F. Davis on Nov. 2, 1994; he preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Louise Dean; her father, Marvin E. Willams, Sr. and her stepfather, W. H. Dean.
Mrs. Davis had worked at the Village Shoe Store and was a hobby and craft counselor at the federal prison until her retirement. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Center and the Encourager Group.
Mar Lou enjoyed ceramics and enjoyed teaching crafts. She had won several first place ribbons in local fairs and exhibitions. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved family gatherings.
Mar Lou was a charter member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and took her children to church and taught them to love the Lord. Survivors include her children, Candra L. Pickett and her husband, Roy Dale, of Odessa, Pamela K. Rolfe of Big Spring, Ricky Dyer of Big Spring and Rocky Dyer and wife, Sharon, of Midland; three sisters, Erma Hardin of Fort Worth, Mary Crenshaw of Morgan and Virginia Weiner of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Marvin E. Williams, Jr. and wife, Annette, of Big Spring; six grandchildren, Toy Henry, Kyle Carroll, Kimberly Pickett, Coy Pickett, Richie Dyer, and Christopher Brown; two step grandchildren, Connie Booth and her husband, Donnie, and Chuck Solley and his wife, Delores; seven great-grandchildren, Cara, Nick and Zack Webster, Kendra and Kaylie Dyer, Cayden Pickett and Austin Brown and three step great-grandchildren, Nathan and Zack Booth and Chuckie Solley.

Dollie Dorothea Williams Gaddy
Dollie Dorothea Williams Gaddy, 87, of Odessa, passed away May 23, 2003 at Hospice House in Odessa. She was born Jan. 31, 1916 in Commanche to Henry and Alice Jamar. She retired as a seamstress for Odessa Cleaners and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands: Amos Edward Williams and Charles Hoyt Gaddy, " who was the love of her life;" one daughter; three brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by son-in law John Higginbotham of Celine; step-daughters, Gay Nash and husband E. I. "Red" of Odessa, Bobbie Virgil of Sweeney; 6 grandchildren, Cynthia Johene Nash & husband Gaylon of Odessa, Katrina Corbin & husband Gill of Greenville, Miss., Sherry Jolly of San Antonio, Tisha Smith and husband David of Dallas, Darvin Higginbotham and wife Lisa of Celina, David Higginbotham and wife Diane of Dallas; seven great-grandchildren, Brandy Wilson and husband David of Odessa, Michael Nash of Odessa, Mary Katherine Corbin of Greenville, Miss., Nelson Corbin of Greenville, Miss., Stephanie Jolly of San Antonio, Michael Smith of Dallas, Jonathan Higginbotham of Celina; three great-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Mc Kinzie, and Chance Wilson, all of Odessa; and a host of numerous nieces and nephews.

Melvin Loflin
Melvin Loflin was called to be with the Lord on May 22, 2003. "Dub," as he was known to family and friends, was born to Bill and Florene Loflin on March 26, 1946. A self-employed mechanic and tire man. Dub was always there to lend a helping hand and loved nothing better than to play cards; family gatherings and to spend time in the local coffee shops with friends.
He is survived by three children; Eddie Loflin of Fayetteville, Tenn., Shawna Loflin of Hobbs, N.M., and Jennifer Bietten of Kentucky; sisters, Betty Loflin of Odessa and Shirley Wade of Seagoville; and brother, Richard Loflin of Abilene. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Dub was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wanda Davis of Kermit.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Winkler County Credit Union.
Services will be held at North Funeral Home in Abilene on at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Graveside services to follow at Cedar Hill cemetery.
