Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Waco. She was Baptist.

Benino Sanchez Jr.
TOYAH — Benino “Ben” Sanchez Jr., 51, of Toyah, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, in Pecos.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Emily’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Toyah cemetery. Arrangements by Peaceful Garden Funeral Home of Pecos.
He was born in Pecos and was a lifetime resident of Toyah. He was Catholic. He was an Army veteran.

ODESSA — Rita D. Williams, 88, of Odessa, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Deines officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Coffeyville, Kan., and moved to Odessa in 1948. She was Presbyterian.

Korkie Nunez
ODESSA — Memorial services for Korkie Nunez, 41, of Odessa will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Terry Pierce officiating.
Services under direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nunez passed away Sunday, July 6, 2003, at her residence. She was born February 2, 1962, in Odessa. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and graduated from Ector High School.
Survivors include her son, Alex Nunez; mother, Eva Munoz; four sisters, Liza Valenzuela and husband, David Luna, Ami Granado, Delma and Sue; five brothers, Eloy, Larry, Rick, Arturo Jr., and Jesse; best friends, Lea Venegas and Julian Luna; mother-in-law, Emelisa Rodriquez; four aunts; one uncle; three Godchildren; various nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, “Mojo”, all of Odessa.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Elsie Bean
BROWNWOOD — Funeral services for Elsie Vida Gober Smith Bean, 82, of Brownwood, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, Dr. Stephen Brazzel, officiating with Ronald Adams and Andy Smith giving eulogies. Burial will follow in Greenleaf cemetery, Brownwood, Texas, under the direction of the Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Born in Bouser, Texas, the eighth of nine children to John and Lucy Gober, Elsie was raised in Brownwood where she married
James Eldon Smith who preceded her in death in 1964. They made their home in Odessa, Texas, where they owned Odessa Insulation Company. She retired from Smith Furniture Store in 1991 returning to Lake Brownwood to be near her family.
Elsie is survived by a daughter, Sandra Miller of Brownwood, Texas; a son, James Smith of Sweetwater, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle Loyd, Melissa Davis, Amanda Knight and Shelly Smith; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Linnie Green of Midland, Texas, Edna Wagnon of Trinity, Texas, and Inez Lack of Brownwood, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death is L.M. Bean, husband; Jerry Smith, son; brothers, John Albert, Emmitt, Walter and Elton Gober; and sister, Myrtle Adams.
The pallbearers will be Clifton Gober, Ray Brazzel, Steve Lack, Tom Lack, David Gober and Fred Adams.
The family request that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
Mary Evelyn Grimes
ODESSA — Mary Evelyn Grimes, 77, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2003, in Odessa.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bob Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Mrs. Grimes was born on June 13, 1926, in Chadwick, Illinois. She married
Jesse Taylor Grimes III on April 14, 1950, in Odessa at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1986. Mrs. Grimes attended nursing school in Illinois, and moved to Odessa in 1949 to assist other nurses here during the Polio epidemic. Since that time, she has worked for Headlee Hospital, Drs. Rainer, Wood, Lily, and Heston. She also worked for Medical Center Hospital. Mrs. Grimes was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxilliary.
Survivors include a son, Taylor Grimes of Odessa; a daughter, Dana Harrington of Odessa and her husband, Dale; grandchildren, Joseph, Emily and Sarah Harrington, and Tiffany and Taylor Grimes.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday July 8, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials have been requested to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
Ernest Nathern Aley
ODESSA — Ernest ‘Sonny’ Nathern Aley, 58, went to our Father in Christ on July 7, 2003, at his home in Odessa. He was born in Levelland, Texas, on February 19, 1945.
He was an oil field worker and has lived in Odessa ll his life. He enjoyed fishing and being with his family. He was a beloved father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Aley and Thelma Paschel Oates. He leaves behind two sons, Jack Aley and wife, Gina Aley, of Odessa; and Jr. Aley of Reserve, N.M.; two sisters, Barbara Jean Tolbert of Odessa and Billy Jo Rankin and husband, Don Rankin, of Odessa; four grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at 5715 Ector. The family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice.

RP Lewis
ODESSA — RP Lewis, entrepreneur, husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2003, in Odessa, Texas. RP was born to Cleo and George Franklin Lewis on May 4, 1927, in Grand Saline, Texas. He married
Patsy Marie Jones on December 2, 1950, in Snyder, Texas.
RP served in World War II as an Army officer. Except for his years in the service, he worked in the oil fields of West Texas. In 1963, RP and his wife Patsy founded their own business, Lewis Casing Crews, an oil field service company, in Odessa. RP’s success as an entrepreneur in his numerous business dealings were based on his faith in God, his fair and honest spirit, and the fact that he always kept his word.
RP lived an exciting life of 76 years full of laughter and adventure. His favorite activities over the years have been family gatherings at his mountain home in Ruidoso, bass and trout fishing, bird hunting, gardening, swimming, and reading.
RP is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy; daughter, La Donna Lewis Weaver; sons, Franklin and Patrick Lewis; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren which have been the light of his life; four brothers; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
RP was a Christian, and a memorial service to honor him will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Oden officiating. The Lewis family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

ODESSA — The Rev. Carroll Raymond Bugg, 75, of Odessa, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church with Revs. Grover Bishop and Donald Bugg officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Pine Bluff, Ark.

ODESSA — Joe Daniel Carrasco Jr., infant son of Brenda Talamantez and Joe Daniel Carrasco of Odessa, died Monday, June 16, 2003, in Fort Worth.

CRANE — Annis Doolen, 94, of Crane, a homemaker, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at the Crane Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born in Rochester and was a 64-year resident of Crane. She was a member of the Mary Street Church of Christ.

OKMULGEE, Okla. — Lura An Friemel, 40, formerly of Odessa and now of Okmulgee, Okla., a Licensed Practical Nurse at Rebold Manor Nursing Home, died Friday, June 13, 2003.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Fred King officiating. Burial will be at Post Oak Memorial cemetery in Athens. Arrangements by McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.
She was born in Wichita Falls. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
