Maxine Purcell
MONAHANS — Maxine Purcell, 78, of Burnet, a housewife, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Austin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Monahans with the Rev. Jeff Box presiding. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home in Monahans.
She was born in Lynn County and lived in Monahans. She was Baptist.

Neomia Lee Harper
ODESSA — Neomia Lee Harper, age 82, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born June 4, 1920, in Grandfalls, Texas.
Mrs. Harper was a graduate from Ysleta High school in El Paso, Texas, and was a Baptist. She lived in El Paso for many years, and she also had a second home in Ruidoso, N.M., that she went to for enjoyment. She spent the rest of her life in Odessa, Texas, with her daughter.
Neomia and her beloved husband, Guy W. Harper, were married
for 57 years. She was a homemaker and a beautician. She loved to sew and knit and her family was always first in her life. They owned an apartment complex for 37 years. Together, they moved into the home they built to retire in.
She is survived by two sons, Guylee Harper of El Paso and James L. Harper of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a daughter, Brenda K. Pierce of Odessa; two sisters, Jewel Lutich of Tornillo, Texas, and Loree Richards of Carlsbad, N.M.; two brothers, W.T. Russell of Alamogordo, N.M., and Raymond Russell of Pawhuska, Okla. She was very close to her brothers and sisters and loved them dearly. She also had four grandchildren, Tony Harper, Todd Harper, Tammy Shumake and Gwenlyn Wilson; and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guy W. Harper; and two sisters, Ruby Hix and Dorothy Croley.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Brown officiating. Interment will follow the services at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Dabney Blaylock
BLACKWELL — Dabney Winston Blaylock, 61, of Blackwell went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 10, 2003.
He was born Dec. 7 1941 in Littlefield, Texas, to Ottis and Agnes Blaylock who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brother Gordon Blaylock and sister Sharon Blaylock.
He married
Frances Bessire on October 12, 1962. He worked as a General Electric Technician in Odessa for 28 years retiring in 1996. After retirement, he and Frances made Blackwell their permanent home. Dabney loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dabney will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of Blackwell; daughter, Shauna McGlothlin and her husband, Wayne, of Temple; two sons, Gayland Blaylock and his wife, Kim, of Odessa, and Kyle Blaylock also of Odessa; and four grandchildren, Toby McGlothlin, Amanda McGlothlin, Chris Crane and Kaitlyn Blaylock; sisters Marieta Wilkinson of Muleshoe, Marie Robertson of Frisco, Debra Lose of Oregon; and brother, Lewis Blaylock of Bridgeport.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Blackwell with Brother Tom Hiser officiating. Interment will be at Blackwell cemetery. Arrangement by Shaffer Funeral Home of Bronte. Pallbearers will be Howard McKay, Daniel Gawlik, Tom Harries, Charles Lisso, Bob O’Neal and Lee Womack.

ODESSA — Funeral services for Brian Christopher Pool, age 29, of San Antonio, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Weymouth officiating. Burial will be in Monahans Memorial Park.
He passed away in San Antonio on Tuesday, July 8, 2003.
Mr. Pool was born November 15, 1973, in Dallas, Texas. He was a student at San Antonio College. He was a member of Parker Heights Christian Church.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lina and Larry Murray of Odessa; his father and stepmother, Ben and Lenora Pool of Sonora; his sister, Rachael Pool of Odessa; his step grandfather, Ed Murray of Odessa; and step grandmother, Irma Luckie of San Angelo. He is also survived by four stepbrothers, Shannon Rushing, Trey Rushing, Levi Pool and Jason Murray; and a stepsister, Candice Joyner.

Rosa Amelia Santoyo
ODESSA — Funeral services for Rosa Amelia Santoyo, age 55, of Odessa, are scheduled for 12 p.m. Noon on Monday, July 14, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.
There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 14.
Mrs. Santoyo was born June 27, 1948 in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico to her parents Luis Estela and Rosa Estela Carrion. She passed away, Friday, July 11, 2003 at Medical Center Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She married
Pedro Santoyo on Sept. 11, 1965 in Chicago, Ill.
She is survived by her husband, Pedro Santoyo; her son, Pedro Santoyo, Jr. and wife, Maria; her three daughters, Rosa Lopez and husband, Juan, Yolanda Ewing and husband, Scott, and Maria Guadalupe Santoyo, all of Odessa; her sister, Carmen Estela of Puerto Rico; and seven grandchildren.
The family requests that anyone attending the funeral services or rosaries, will not wear black clothing.

Wade Manchell Slough, Sr.
ODESSA — Pagosa Springs resident, Wade Manchell Slough, Sr. died in his home on Wednesday, July 9, 2003.
He was 88 years old. Wade was born in Holder, Texas on May 8, 1915 to Grover Cleveland Slough and Nancy Melissa Wade. He attended high school in Goldsboro, TX and earned his CPA through LaSalle University. On October 20, 1941 he married
Nona Audrey Pike in Odessa, TX.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the 36th Division, M Company, 143rd Infantry. He then transferred to the 36th Signal Company during World War II and received the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service. He obtained the rank of T/Sergeant in the T&T section. He made beachhead landings at Salerno, Italy and St. Raphael, France and was honorably discharged on July 1, 1945.
After his military service he went to work for the United States Postal Service. He served as postmaster in Odessa, TX for 20 years. He retired in 1972. He earned his commercial real estate license and was active in sales for 18 years before moving from Odessa to Pagosa Springs in 1991.
Wade served as Deacon for many years at the First Christian Church in Odessa, TX. He was a Charter Life Member of VFW Post 4372 and served as its first full time commander. He was a Master Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Odessa Toastmasters Club, and the Rotary Club.
Wade is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, W.C. “Bud” Slough, and Aubrey Slough and his sisters, Cleo, Dollie and Myrtle.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Slough of Pagosa Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, Wade, Jr. and Cheryl Slough, of Plano, TX; his daughter Brenda Cockrell of Dallas, TX; his daughter and son-in-law Rune’ and George Scott of Odessa, TX; his brother and sister-in-law, G.C. and Dorinda Slough; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bob Szosthowski; his grandchildren, Sean, Clint and Tamara Cockrell; Wade III, Brent and Rachel Slough; Sherry Adams and Michelle Hendrickson; his great grandchildren, Blake and Chase Adams and Caitlin and Caroline Cockrell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Chapel.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home of Odessa.
