Shirley Lee Wilson
ODESSA — Shirley Lee Wilson passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Regency Hospital in Odessa, following a brief battle with ovarian cancer. She was born February 5, 1954, to Gareth and Joy Pollard.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Wilson; and son, Troy Wilson of Odessa; daughter, Emily Richards of Dallas; parents, Gareth and Joy Pollard of Odessa; brother, Gareth Pollard Jr. of Austin; and twin sister, Patricia Mackey of Odessa.
Saturday night, she passed peacefully in the presence of her loved ones and friends. Two of the most important aspects of Shirley’s life were her family and her work. For the past 14 years she was assistant to Dr. Kris Howard; she loved her work and enjoyed the friendship and affections of the staff and clients.
The family is grateful for the many prayers and support from numerous friends expressed during these last weeks. Special thanks to Shirley’s friend Laura Granbery for being there till the end.
Memorial services to celebrate Shirley’s life were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church, 1420 E. 42nd, with Rev. Scott Sprouse officiating.

Linda Fay ‘Nini’ Henderson
ODESSA — Linda Fay “Nini” Henderson, 48, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born February 10, 1955, in Menard, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. J.D. Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James B. Nixon and Mable Lee Davis, and her twin sister, Brenda Nixon on Aug. 23, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Joe Henderson of Odessa; parents, Jack and Ann Cockrell of Coleman; her brother, Bobby Baker Sr. and sister, Janet “Katie” Sullins, both of Odessa; her children, Kristopher Melton, Brenda Pinkstaff, Janet Henderson and Sandra Henderson, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Joseph Henderson, Stasi Pinkstaff, Matrassa Henderson, Cody Grasty, Lee J. Rutledge, Tanner Pinkstaff, Samuel Rutledge and Jaicee Melton, all of Odessa; and numerous “special” nieces and nephews.

Mickey Richburg Jr.
ODESSA — Mickey Richburg Jr., 69, of Odessa passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born September 26, 1934, in Inadale, Texas, to Carmen and Christeen Richburg.
Mickey attended the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. He managed the Palace Cleaners in Roswell, N.M., and worked for Levi Strauss and Co. for many years in both Roswell and Odessa. He was last employed with Albertsons in Odessa. He volunteered at the Northside Senior Citizens Center and was cherished by many of his friends in the deaf community. He has been a resident of Odessa for the past 22 years.
Survivors include his mother of Odessa; two daughters, Paula McDonald of Roswell and Jennifer McDonald of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, James A. Richburg of Odessa, Gary Richburg of Roswell and Ronald “Ron” Richburg of Roswell; one sister, Janie Coats of Carlsbad, N.M.; and six grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin Weeaks of Roswell, Joman and Joloni Pettes of Roswell, Billy McDonald of Anchorage and Brian Chavez of Anchorage.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1976 and his brother, T.D. Richburg in 1997.

Ramiro Cantu
ODESSA - Ramiro Cantu, 44, a truck driver, of Odessa but previously of Mathis, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in San Angelo.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Redeemer with the Rev. Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Mathis.

Afton Davis
ODESSA - Afton Hagar Davis, 88, died Friday, July 25, 2003.
Family visitation will take place at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Paul Veree officiating. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
She moved to Odessa in 1948.

Elena Hill
ODESSA - Elena Flores Hill, 85, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilberto Rodriguez officiating. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the E Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
She was born in Cameron. She was a 60-year resident of Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Rumaldo Hill; sons, Rey Hill, Willie Hill Sr., Pastor Rosario Hill and Rumaldo Hill Jr., all of Odessa; daughters, Mary Ann Ortega and Lidia Cruz, both of Odessa; and sisters, Isabel Silvas of San Jose, Calif., and Maria Felis Sosa of Odessa.
John Wesley ‘J.W.’ Epperson Jr.
ODESSA — John Wesley “J.W.” Epperson Jr., born in Pangburn, Ark., on December 31, 1919, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003.
He married
Ellen Curtner Oct. 29, 1940. He served in the Army Air Corp in WWII with the B29 bomber group on Tinian Island. He retired from Ector County School District where his kids knew him as “Shorty.” He was a faithful member of Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Odessa; his two sons from San Angelo, Jerry and Kenneth; one stepson, Harold Medlin of Dallas; seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his twin sons, three brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be given to Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church with Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Eilleen Smith Gordon
BALLINGER — Eilleen, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, in Midland, Texas. She was born June 2, 1922, in Ballinger to Mr. and Mrs. William Ralph Smith. She grew up in Ballinger, graduating from BHS, May 1939.
She married
Wayne Gordon of Miles, Texas on Nov. 16, 1940.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Tommy Zayne Gordon of Midland; two daughters, Judy Wayne Dixon of Midland and Penny Darlene Farris and husband, Roy, of Odessa; seven grandchildren, Carmen Cay Lewis and husband, Jeff, of Fairfield, Troy Z. Gordon of Hillsboro Beach, Fla., Darrell Wayne Dixon and wife, Stacy, of Boerne, Gordon Bryan Dixon and wife, Tracy, of Midland, Kevin Kyle Dixon of Midland, Lisa Dawn Kidd and husband, Ronnie Jr., of Odessa and Gordon Shayne Farris of Odessa; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, cousins and many, many friends.
A special thank you to the staff of Odyssey Health Care and the staff of Terrance West Nursing Home that assisted her.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Evergreen cemetery in Ballinger, Texas.

Juanita Tosh Pipkin
MONAHANS — Services for Juanita Tosh Pipkin, 82, of Monahans, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, October 6, at Third & Dwight Church of Christ, with Greg Holly officiating.
She was born December 23, 1920, in Mount Vernon, Texas, to George and Mary Tosh. She married
Andy Edward Pipkin, January 23, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas. She grew up in Lubbock, moving to Breckenridge after her marriage.
In 1939, they moved to Monahans from Breckenridge. She was a member of Third and Dwight Church of Christ, teaching Bible Classes in the Youth Department for many years. She was a practicing Public Accountant in Monahans from 1949 to 1971, specializing in Federal Taxation. She became an Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent in 1967. Continuing accounting education was done in Chicago, Lubbock, and Odessa institutions. Since 1971, she served as accountant for four local businesses.
She was active in local ladies golf, having been a member of Lower Plains Ladies Golf Association, Big Bend Ladies Golf Association, and Ward County Golf Association.
She is survived by a son, Randall Jess Pipkin, and wife Stephanie, of Monahans. Her daughter, Linda Kay Derrick, and husband Jay, also of Monahans. Her grandchildren, Denise Barnett of Abilene, Phillip Derrick of Monahans, Jon Derrick of Ft. Worth, Chad Pipkin of Midland and Christin Pipkin Gray of Midland. Her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Katie Barnett of Abilene, Chris, Michael, and Hollie Derrick of Monahans, Andy Derrick of Fort Worth, Dylan Pipkin and Taylor Gray of Midland.

ODESSA — Alvin Ray Woodard Sr., 44, a retired electrician passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Mr. Woodard Sr. was a life long resident of Odessa, Texas.
He is survived by his wife LaTonia; son, Alvin Ray Woodard Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M.; stepsons, Alvin Chester Routte, Desmond Tremaine Hill, Billy Ray Hill, all of Odessa; daughters, Bertrina Ynonne Woodard and Chauntuaqua Nekkimm Rogers, both of Albuquerque, and Tamoxey Kelly; sisters, Sharron Woodard Mitchell of Waco and Beverly Woodard of Los Angeles; grandchildren, Treniyah Mi-Kielle Woodard-Draper and Yhai-mene Ray Woodard, both of Albuquerque, Maya Raven Routte, Makaila Mariah Routte, Maliyah Sabrina Routte, Ariana C’leste Routte, Treasure Renea Hill, all of Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Simon Peter Woodard, and his mother, Katherine Willis.
He was born Aug. 11, 1959 in Odessa.
