ODESSA — Mearn Cravens, 79, of Odessa died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at his residence.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Sylvia Ann Whitlow Milsten
MONAHANS — Sylvia Ann Whitlow Milsten, 41, of Monahans, a homemaker, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at her residence. She was born July 23, 1962, in Monahans.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with Danny Green officiating. Services are entrusted to Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
She was born in Monahans.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Whitlow, in 1978.
Survivors include her former husband, Stanley Milsten and his son, Anthony, of Monahans; her mother, Deborah Owens Whitlow of Monahans; brothers, Jim Whitlow and wife, Kathy, and son, Eric, of Alamogordo, N.M.; Roger Whitlow and wife, Michelle, and children, Marcus and Cassie Whitlow, Mathew Sanchez, Billy, Robert, Chris and Ashley Henderson, all of Monahans; and Scott Whitlow and wife, Tina, and daughter, Amanda, of Monahans; and numerous family members and friends.
I would like to express my “Thanks” to the many friends and family for their cards, words of encouragement and their many acts of kindness during my illness, to the end. My appreciation is greater than any words can say.

Charles Pat McDaniel
ODESSA — Charles Pat McDaniel, 72, of Odessa, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Honorary pallbearers were: Millard Alexander, Jerry Armstrong, Boyd Hughes, Dawl Johnson, Randy McGuire and Bob Sanford.
Mr. McDaniel was born on Nov. 29, 1930, in Big Spring, Texas, to Charles Hansford McDaniel Jr. and Opal Patterson McDaniel. He married Norma Dean Fletcher on July 3, 1954, in Odessa, Texas. He attended the Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas. Mr. McDaniel worked for Republic Supply Company for 36 years, and retired from Union Supply in 1994. Upon his retirement, he established C. Pat’s Crafts, specializing in handcrafted pens. In addition to woodworking, Mr. McDaniel enjoyed deer hunting.
He was an elder on the Session at Cumberland Presbyterian Church multiple times between 1959 and 2002. He also taught Sunday School, directed the choir, and sang in the choir when he was not directing it. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Don Hank McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Dean McDaniel of Odessa; two daughters, Carra Schneider and her husband, Bobby, of Odessa and Tina Bolton and her husband, Joey, also of Odessa; one son, Charles “Chuck” Pat McDaniel Jr. of Odessa; five grandchildren, Sheena McMillian and her husband, Charlie, of Bryan, Texas, Jordan Richards, Garren Schneider, Joe Bolton, and Sara Bolton; two brothers, Luther McDaniel and his wife, Joyce, of Kerrville and Terry McDaniel and his wife, Kay, of Big Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Odessa.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Charles Grady Waters
ODESSA — Our beloved father went to be with our Lord Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003. He was born June 2, 1921, in Houston, Texas. He had served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946 and joined the Reserves from 1946 to 1950. He started at McNut Refinery in 1951 which sold out to El Paso Products in 1953 and then changed to Shell Oil, from which he retired in 1989 as a supervisor.
He belonged to the Masons from 1967 to present day and was the Worship Mast of Odessa Lodge #955 from 1996-1997. He was a 32nd degree Yorkright Mason, a Mason Knights Templar and belonged to the Mason Chapter and Council.
He became an honorary deacon on September 18, 2003, at the Vine Baptist Church where he attended.
He had a quest for knowledge and become a carpenter. He built three houses in his lifetime. He was a great family man and believed that family always came first.
He is preceded in death by his father John R. Waters and mother Laura Ellen Waters. He is also preceded by his loving wife of 50 years, Betrice Waters.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dottie Creech and Paul of Irving, Jeannie Hight and Joel of Odessa and Debbie Imler and Phillip of Odessa; son, David Waters and wife, Katie, of Odessa. He had 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at the Vine Baptist Church with Pastor JY Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Ron ‘Coach’ Huckabee
MIDLAND — Ron “Coach” Huckabee of Midland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003.
He was born Dec. 27, 1935, to O.D. and Lucille Huckabee in Brownfield, Texas, and grew up in Andrews. Coach was a graduate of Andrews High School and Hardin-Simmons University. Prior to his retirement, after 22 years in the oilfield sales, he coached various sports. His coaching career included six years in Hale Center, 16 years in Monahans, one year at Midland Lee, and most recently was an assistant coach for Midland Christian Girls Basketball team. Coach loved roping and horses in his early career, but golf was his most recent passion. A member of Greentree Country Club, Coach loved assisting and helping all with their golf game. He was a coach to the very end.
Ron’s grandchildren were his life, and he loved watching them participate in their sporting events and really enjoyed “helping” the officials. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Ron was a fine Christian man who loved the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Huckabee of Midland, TX; sons, Dub Huckabee and his wife, Cathie, of Midland, TX, Gary Huckabee and his wife, Angie, of Monahans, TX; daughter, Sheri Carr and her husband, David, of Stanton, TX; his parents, O.D. and Lucille Huckabee; grandchildren, Ashley Huckabee, Amy Baum, Bobby Boaz, all of Midland, TX; Heather and Traci Carr of Stanton, TX; Kacie, Jamie and Alex Huckabee of Monahans, TX; great-grandchildren, Destiny Lancaster, Darien Baum, Erin and Tyler Boaz.
The family would like to recognize the whole group of “Home Hospice Angels” who assisted us in the final days. Special thanks also to Dr. David Watkins and the awesome Cancer Center staff.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at First Baptist Church Worship Center with Reverend David Evans of Trinity Baptist in Amarillo officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy., Midland, Texas.
Memorials may be directed to Home Hospice, 901 W. Missouri, Midland, TX 79701.

Cynthia May Ogilvy
ODESSA — Cynthia May Ogilvy was born May 4, 1948, in Odessa to Howard and Pearl Calvert. Cynthia passed away after a brief illness Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at the First Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her father Howard Calvert and niece Michelle Calvert.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Tim Ogilvy of Odessa; daughter, Jamie Davis and husband, Chris, of Nicholasville, Ky.; mother Pearl Calvert of Odessa; father and mother-in-law, Buck and Judy Ogilvy of Odessa; aunt and uncle, Mary and Kennedy Whitely of Austin; aunts, Ollie Belle Holt, Joy Belle Stelleman and Lavada Haupp, all of Odessa, and Laverne Patton of Austin; uncle, Coy B. and wife, Joyce Calvert, of San Angelo; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sarah Ogilvy of Odessa; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Mike Withrow of Odessa; nephews and nieces, Michael Calvert, Chris Withrow, Stephen Withrow, Matthew Withrow, Lonnie and Brenda McComas, Becky and Bill Boone, Sarah Bidwell, Amanda Boone and Austin McComas; and her pets, Jasmine and Justice.
Cynthia loved people, and people loved her. She loved her father very much and was very much like him; private and gentle. She was never idle, but always enjoyed working in her home and garden. She worked hard at everything she did and wasn’t afraid to try anything.
Cynthia was the type of person who was there first when someone needed help and was the last one to leave. She was a strong, determined person who befriended anyone and anything. Many times she would pick up strays that managed to tug at her heart.
Cynthia was a member of the Odessa Board of Realtors, Women’s Council of Realtors, where she held various offices, and the Mortgage Bankers Council. Cynthia was a dedicated volunteer and fundraiser for Meals on Wheels; was recipient of the 1993 Affiliate of the Year award presented by the Women’s Council of Realtors and worked with Investors Mortgage, ABC Mortgage, Krupps Residential Mortgage and First American Bank Mortgage. Cynthia was also the owner of Specialty Catering.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be directed to Meals on Wheels capital campaign.

Marina D. Rojero
ODESSA — Marina D. Rojero, 40, of Odessa passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at her residence. She was born Dec. 9, 1962, in Odessa to Catarino and Aida Dutchover Rojero. She was Christian Catholic and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by mother, Aida Rojero; brother, Catarino Abel Rojero; and grandmother, Elfida Dutchover. She is survived by her father, Catarino Rojero of Odessa; special friend, her ex-husband, Robert Rivera of Austin; five sons, Bobby Rivera and wife, Katie, of Austin, Randy Rivera of San Angelo, Joshua Rojero, Steven Martinez and Domanick Rodriguez of Odessa; one daughter, Candice Marie Rodriguez of Odessa; three brothers, Albert Rojero and wife, Sandra, Elias Rojero and wife, Maria, of Odessa and Joe Rojero and wife, Maria, of Dallas; five sisters, Abby Rojero of San Angelo, Lupe Sosa of Odessa, Elva Subia and husband, Lupe, of Katy, Jolanda Rivera and husband, Freddy, of Odessa and Cathy Lopez of Odessa; two grandchildren, Serynah and Maliki Rivera; 32 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews; and several, aunts, uncles, cousins and her dear friends.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 24, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Reverend Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Albert Rojero, Israel Hinojos, Ismael Hinojos, Isaac Hinojos, Derrick Sosa, Christopher Sosa and Jesse Rodriguez.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

Ann Riley Shields
ODESSA — Ann Riley Shields passed away on Sept. 20, 2003. She was born February 10, 1929, in Paint Rock, Texas. Ann married A. L. “Dake” Shields on Jan. 5, 1948. She was a registered nurse.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and her son, Larry, and grandson, Justin Dvorak.
Ann is survived by her husband; son, Gary and his wife, Judy, of Spring Texas; daughter, Sherree and her husband, Rick Carter, of Odessa; six grandchildren, Lori Shields of Arlington, Texas, Dake Shields of Humble, Texas, Riley Shields of Spring, Texas, Allison Carter and Cory Carter of Odessa, David Duckworth of Odessa; two great-granddaughters, Dakkota and Kamryn Duckworth; one brother, Dub Riley of Odessa; and two sisters, Oma Bullard and Bobby Fisher, both of Odessa.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laguna Park Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 5103, Laguna Park, Texas 76644.

Norma L. Robinson
MIDLAND — Norma L. Robinson of Midland passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003.
She was born Nov. 9, 1927, to Harvey and Ellie Awalt in Eastland, Texas, and was reared and educated in Carlsbad, Cloudcroft, Artesia and Jal, N.M. While living in Jal, she met Cecil Robinson. After graduation from High School Cecil joined the Navy. He and Norma were married on May 18, 1945, in Vallejo, Calif. After the war, Norma and Cecil lived in Wink, Fort Stockton, McCamey, Crane, Andrews, Odessa and Midland. In 1959, they were original partners of Ruthco, Inc. an oilfield service firm. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Deerings Nursing Home in Odessa, Texas and the Odessa Scripture Shop. Norma was a member of Crossroads Christian Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara White.
Norma is survived by her husband, Cecil Robinson of Midland, Texas; daughter, Mona Kinder and husband, Don, of Miami, Texas; two brothers, L.A. “Arch” Awalt of Sacramento, Calif.; Jerry Dan Awalt and wife, Connie, of Andrews, Texas; one sister, Mona Jean Hale of Tyler, Texas; two granddaughters, Krista Bumstead and husband, Matthew, of Lubbock, Texas; Kasey Sims and husband, Kelley, of Amarillo, Texas; one grandson, Jeremy Kinder and wife, Jennifer, of Austin, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Susannah Bumstead; and one great-grandson, James Ashlock “Ash” Bumstead; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Christian Life Center with Reverend Rene Brown and Reverend Billy Raies officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Merlin Despaux, Justin Bartlett, Chuck Clark, David Goins, Michael Klessman and Lucky Shaw all students of Teen Challenge.
