ODESSA — Daniel Porras, 17, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2003, following an automobile accident. He was born on March 16, 1986 in Midland, Texas, to Arturo Urias and Maria Gabaldon. Daniel was employed in construction, was member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and attended Ector Jr. High School.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Deanda of Odessa; son, Daniel Porras Jr. of Odessa; parents, Arturo Urias and Maria Gabaldon; grandmother, Carmen Gabaldon of Odessa; sisters, Michelle G. Harrison, Mayra Gabaldon and Maria Soledad, all of Odessa. His grandfather preceded him in death.
A rosary will be recited Thursday, August 14, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Israel Tercero, Eloy Rodriguez, Sergio Quinonez, Luis Luna, Jesus Rodriguez and Joel Quiroz.

Maria ‘TiaTa’ R. Solis
ODESSA — Maria “TiaTa” R. Solis, 49 years of age, of Odessa, passed away on August 12, 2003. God looked out into his garden and noticed a flower was missing. He replaced the missing flower with our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. She was called to heaven to end her pain and suffering. We will miss her, but are thankful that she is now with our heavenly father.
She was born December 13, 1953, in Pecos, Texas, to Hilario and Aurora F. Ramos. She was a Christian Catholic and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by father; brother, Billy Ramos; grandparents, Andres and Guadalupe Ramos, Crispin and Luisa Franco.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Gonzalez; sons, Luis Solis and Norma of Odessa, David Solis and Kristy of Odessa and Monserrath Solis Jr. of Dallas; mother, Aurora Franco of Odessa; brother Andres Ramos and Elena of Midland; sisters, Guadalupe Anchondo and Chris of Odessa, Maribel Torres and Juan of Odessa and Ramona Levario and Manuel of San Antonio; and sister-in-law, Hortencia Ramos of Odessa; and six grandchildren, David Allen, Sadie, Madeline, Marrisa, Jonathan and Sienna Luisa.
Visitation will begin today at 621 N. Kelly and rosary is set for 7 p.m. today at 621 N. Kelly. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2003, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date.
Pallbearers will be David Solis, Juan Torres, Juan Torres Jr., Jose Luis Torres, Raul Hernandez, Fernando Garza, Chris Anchondo and Larry Torres.

Wesley James Thomason
ODESSA — Wesley James Thomason, 63, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at his residence. He was born March 6, 1940, in Brownwood. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, The V.F.W. and the Vietnam Vets.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tresia Kathleen Thomason; and parents, James Benjamin and Edna Thomason.
He is survived by his son, Mark Thomason and wife, Tanya, of Odessa; daughter, Kathleen Morrell and husband, Eric, of Odessa; seven grandchildren, Leonard Thomason, Brandon Thomason, Jessica Thomason, Erica Wauqua, Cody Wauqua, Dominique Thomason and Cheyenne Morrell; and sisters, Alice F. Hart of La Vernia, Texas, and Sue McCracken of Tomball.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating.

V.L. ‘Whitey’ Whitehouse
ODESSA — V.L. Whitehouse, “Whitey”, a loving husband, daddy and grandpa, age 79, a longtime resident of Odessa went to rest with the Lord Monday, August 11, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born November 29, 1923, in Ink, Ark. He was a warehouse foreman and truck driver for Fidelity Oil Co./Starrgas for 20 years and retired in 1986. He married
Julia Gallegos, his loving wife of 48 years, on December 27, 1954, in Stigler, Okla.
He was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Cordelia Whitehouse, and brother, Paul Whitehouse.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Whitehouse of Odessa; daughters, Teresa Gallegos and husband, Edward, of Odessa, Dana Carrasco and husband, Eddy, of Odessa and Gayla Whitehouse of Midland; five grandchildren, Amie and Daniel Rivera, Kevin and Starla Tavarez, Erik Tavarez, Jason Carrasco and Justin Carrasco; step-granddaughter, Brooke Gallegos; great-granddaughter, Madisyn Tavarez; and close friend, Rosemary Baker of Midland; his sisters, Florence Dennis of Oklahoma, Faye Gonzales of New Mexico, Lela Gonzales of Oklahoma and Coy Lawrence of New Mexico; brother, Allen Whitehouse of New Mexico; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his precious pets, Lady, Tater and Mongrel.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

BIG SPRING — Francisca Cruz, 76, of Big Spring, homemaker, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at her son’s residence.

MIDLAND — Maria Graham, 76, of Midland died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Odessa.

She was born in Naples, Italy. She was Presbyterian.

FORT STOCKTON — Arthur G. Harral, 84, of Fort Stockton, a rancher, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Fort Stockton.
Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church with the Revs. Sara Garnett, Charles McIntyre, Dean Durkson and Lay Reader officiating. Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
He was born in San Angelo and was a 32-year resident of Fort Stockton. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

EUNICE, N.M. — James E. “Jim” Hubbard, 78, of Eunice, N.M., a retired salesman, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, in Eunice.

He was born in Eastland and moved to Eunice, N.M., from Odessa. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

TISHOMINGO, Okla. — Mary Alice Payne, 82, of Tishomingo, Okla., a homemaker, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Abilene, Texas.

She was born in Holly Creek, Okla., and lived in Kermit for 27 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
