Beatrice Morrow
LEVELLAND — Beatrice Morrow, 88, a bookkeeper for QP Parts, of Levelland, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Levelland Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Andrews cemetery with the Rev. Doug Kellow officiating. Arrangements by George C. Price Funeral Directors.
She was born in Trent and moved to Levelland in 1968 from Andrews. She was Baptist.

ODESSA — Andres Rangel Murillo Sr., 86, of Odessa died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Rockwood and was a U.S. Army veteran & POW of WWII. He was Baptist.

ODESSA — Edwin “Eddie” Newton, 60, a former employee of Reedy Manufacturing and Wells, of Odessa, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in White Oak, Ark.

Joseph Rhatie Singh
MIDLAND — Joseph Rhatie Singh passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2003, in Midland, Texas.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Chatterpaul Singh on February 25, 1924, at No. 47 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Guyana. Rhatie married
Kamla Jessodra Ramgulam, deceased 1980, in 1951 and together raised their five daughters, Nina Rookmin Singh of New York, Khay Singh-Phillips of Santa Clara, Calif., Violet Singh of Midland, Texas, Beatrice Indira Singh of New York and Tiny Nadira Kanhai of Toronto, Canada. He was the loving grandfather of Melissa and Susan Singh of Midland, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Leah and Hannah Phillips, all of Santa Clara, Calif., Kevin and Victoria Kanhai of Toronto.
Prior to his short stay in Midland, he lived in Far Rockway, New York, after emigrating from Guyana in 1984. His teaching career spanned thirty-five years, first briefly as a classroom teacher and then as a Principal at the elementary level at Albion School, No 48 Gov’t School, No. 43 Gov’t School, No. 59 Gov’t School, Kawall Gov’t School and Providence School in Guyana. He particularly was proud of his role in coordinating the community labor, land donation and foreign aid that brought access to an elementary school built by residents of No. 43 Village. In 1967, he was one of two principals in the country selected to participate in one-year study at the Latin American Education Institute in Venezuela.
His hobbies included beekeeping, gardening and woodwork. He also operated a successful land excavating business, was a co-founder of the Lotus Valley Cooperative Rice Development Scheme, a member of the Upper Corentyne Lions Club and the West Demerara Lions Club. He was a member and elder of the No. 48 Presbyterian Church and Burns Memorial Presbyterian Church in Guyana. Rhatie enjoyed excellent health in all of his life except the last six months and was blessed with the love and deep respect of many, especially his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, former students and numerous friends. His bright smile, firm handshake, pleasant conversations, and generosity to others were some of the reasons that contributed to his every growing circle of friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 18, 2003, and Tuesday, August 19, 2003, between the hours of 5 and 7:30 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2801 N. Garfield, Midland, Texas, with Reverend Dr. Bob Bullock officiating. Pallbearers will include sons-in-law, Mark Singh, Tom Phillips and Dennis Kanhai. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Final services to celebrate his life will be at 10:30 a.m. at Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home, 103-33 Lefferts Blvd., Richmond Hill, New York 11419 to be followed by cremation (visitation hours in New York are 4 to 8 p.m. August 21 and 22).

Maria Jimenez
ODESSA — Maria Jimenez, 73, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa. Mrs. Jimenez was born Dec. 20, 1929, in Marfa, Texas, to father, Eugenio Molina, and mother, Josefina Hinojos, who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by five daughters, Delma Abalos and husband, Richard, of Odessa, Debra Neitzel and husband, Norman from Odessa, Diana Campos of Odessa, Doreen Moreno and husband, Johnny, of Austin and Delia Garza and husband, Robert, of Fort Worth; five sons, Rafael “Ralph” Jimenez and wife, Gilda of Odessa, Ruben Jimenez of Odessa, Rudy Jimenez and wife, Rocio, Ricky Jimenez of Austin, and Robert Jimenez and wife, Lisa, of Houston; three brothers, Lionel Hinojos of Odessa, Gilbert Molina of California and Ray Hinojos of Houston; four sisters, Victoria Reyes, Janie Galindo and Velma Minjarez, all of Odessa, and Yolanda Gomez of Midland; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparent, Paula Dominguez, paternal grandparent, Maria Molina, and stepfather, Ramon Hinojos.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial following at Ector County cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Garza of Port Arthur, Chris Jimenez of Albany, N.Y., Greg Jimenez of San Antonio, Angel Abalos of Houston, John Cris Moreno and Zachary Moreno, both of Austin, Rene Jimenez, Danny Campos and Jonathan Campos, all of Odessa.

Andres Rangel Murillo Sr.
ODESSA — Andres Rangel Murillo Sr., 86, of Odessa passed away Saturday, August 16, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born August 10, 1917, in Rockwood, Texas, to Apolonio and Gabina R. Murillo. He married
Santos Lopez July 27, 1945, in Paint Rock, Texas. He was an Army Veteran and a POW of World War II, and a Christian Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by wife, Santos L. Murillo of Odessa; three sons, Andres L. Murillo Jr. and wife, Elvira, of Odessa, Gilbert Murillo and wife, Mary, of Baytown and Robert Murillo of Odessa; four daughters, Connie Puentes of Houston, Paulina Baca and husband, Hector Sr., of Odessa, Peggy Mora and husband, Francisco, of Odessa and Joann Murillo of Odessa; one brother Raul Murillo Sr. and wife, Francisca, of Hereford, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, August 19, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pedro Lopez officiating. Interment to follow at RoseHill cemetery.
His Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Andy Murrillo III, Michael Murillo, Hector Baca Jr., Eric Baca, Johnny Puentes, and Anabelle Gonzales.

Edwin ‘Eddie’ Newton
ODESSA — Edwin “Eddie” Ray Newton, 60, of Odessa passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Reedy, Emilio Gallegos, Vernon Foster, Jerry Shafer, R.G. Mahan and Don Page. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Shepard, Kenneth Hodges and J.R. Hahn.
Mr. Newton was born June 14, 1943, in White Oak, Ark., to Edward Warren and Mildred Malease Newton. He had worked for Reedy Manufacturing for more than 15 years and Wells for 25 years. He was a member and past president of Eagles Lodge, a member of the Agape Ministries. He loved playing golf, music and singing. He played in a band for several years and in later years enjoyed jam sessions. He was always asked to play the last song “Turn Out the Lights the Party’s Over.” Eddie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Chris Newton of Odessa; son, Dennis Ray Newton of Odessa; daughters, Cindy Hardwick and husband, Richard, of Odessa, Susan Newton of Abilene; stepsons, Troy Eubanks of Odessa, Bruce Blythe of Denton; grandchildren, Brandon Hardwick, Brian Hardwick, Brooke Hardwick, Braeden Hardwick, Breánna Hardwick, Kortni Newton and Mikal Newton, all of Odessa, and Gayla Shafter of Azle, whom he loved like a daughter.

FORT STOCKTON — Darlene Conway Chambers, 74, of Fort Stockton, a restaurant owner, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, in San Angelo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ with Harold Durham officiating. Burial will be at McKenzie’s Flying V Ranch cemetery. Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Basin, Wyo., and lived in Fort Stockton since 1960. She was Church of Christ.

DEVINE — Cipriano D. Dominguez Sr., 87, of Lytle, a retired employee of Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003.
