ODESSA — Mildred L. Bell, 83, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Deerings Nursing Home. She was born March 2, 1920, in Coke County. She moved to Odessa in 1999 from Mineral Wells.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. Bell and son, Gerald Luther Bell.
She is survived by her sons, Marvin E. Bell of San Antonio and Thomas L. Bell of Los Angeles; daughter, Terri Lynn Hooper of Big Spring; daughter-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) Bell of Odessa; sister, Jera Stephan of Abilene; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Woodland Park cemetery in Mineral Wells.

Leslie Maude Manley
ODESSA — Leslie Maude Manley, 91, of Odessa, a homemaker, passed away at the Hospice House. She was born June 6, 1912 in Eros, Ark. She joined her Savior and entered the Kingdom of God on Dec. 12, 2003. Maude is remembered as a loving mother, supportive wife and an adoring grandmother. She spent her life devoted to serving the Lord and spreading his word. Loved ones remember her as a living testimony to Christ.
Preceded in death by her husband and two sons, she is survived by a sister, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Tapley officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Eva Mae Newman
MORAN — Eva Mae Newman was born on May 3, 1911, in Mart, Texas, to Louis and Lois Miller. She passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Odessa. She was 92.
Eva married
Floyd B. Newman in 1932 in Old Glory, Texas. She spent 31 years of her life in Moran and the last 23 years in Odessa. Eva was a retired school cafeteria worker in Moran.
Eva was the oldest child and only girl out of eight children. She was very proud of all of her brothers. Eva will be remembered as a gentle caregiver. She loved taking care of people and doing nice things for others. Even though she might act like it was a chore, she loved to cook for other people. Eva kept a large collection of family photographs and made it a point to keep track of her grandchildren and what was happening in their lives. Eva loved fishing and taking car trips. Her last few years were spent taking care of Nike, her dachshund.
Her husband, Floyd, and her brothers L.J., Ralph, Garvin, Warren, Dan and Leslie preceded her in death. Eva is survived by her sons, Perry Newman of Abilene, Jerry Newman of Moran and Randy Newman of Ennis; daughter, Granla McKelvain of Odessa; brothers, Raymond Miller of Brownwood and Durwood Miller of Granbury; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be today from 5 until 7 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Moran cemetery in Moran. Service arrangements entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors of Odessa and Godfrey-Neece Funeral Home of Moran.
Barbara Carver Parr
ODESSA — Barbara Carver Parr died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Odessa. She was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Whitney, Hill County, Texas, to Charles Spencer and Marguerite Moore Carver.
Mrs. Parr graduated from Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro Junior College and the University of Texas, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. During World War II, she worked for the Fifth Ferrying Group of the USAF, Love Field, Dallas. The Parrs moved to Odessa in January 1947. She was employed for several years in the Administration office of the Ector County Independent School District. She was a sustaining member of the Odessa Junior League and Odessa Symphony Guild and was a member of the Odessa Garden Club for a number of years. She was a longtime member and worker in St. John’s and St. Barnabas Episcopal Churches, and served Meals On Wheels and Cancer Society Road to Recovery as a driver for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, John Edward Carroll II.
She is survived by her husband, Josh H. Parr, whom she married
on April 20, 1946; her daughters, Rebecca Parr Atwood and husband David, Victoria Parr Ehrlich and her husband Paul; two grandsons, Joshua Parr Ehrlich and Simon Mahler Ehrlich; sister, Parry Carver Harris; brother, Charles Spencer Carver Jr.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
