ODESSA -- Brijida Renteria, 68, of Odessa died Friday, March 6, 1998, at her residence.

Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Jose Alvarez

SEAGRAVES -- Jose Eriberto Alvarez, 76, of Monahans, a farmer, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Casey officiating. Rosary was said Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Head Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at Seagraves cemetery. Arrangements by Head Family Funeral Home.

He was born in Presidio and moved to Seagraves in 1965. He moved to Monahans in 1991. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Joe Luis Alvarez of Seagraves, Mario Alvarez of Monahans, Eliseo Alvarez of Burnett and Cruz Alvarez of Seagraves; daughters, Grace Galvan of Monahans, Gloria Reyes of Abilene and Sara Soto of Borger; brother, Ildefonso Baeza of Mexico; sister, Nicanora Fino of Midland; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

William Avera

ODESSA -- William Scott Avera, 46, of Odessa, a plumbing warehouse manager, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Llano Medical Hospital in Llano.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Marietta, Ga., and was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Son, Chris Avera of Danielsville, Ga.; brothers, Allen Avera of Odessa and Raymond Avera of Midland; and sister, Barbara Jackson of Odessa.

Ben Bowen

ODESSA -- Ben Morris Bowen, 77, of Midland, a retired roughneck and derrick hand, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

He was born in Como and was an Army veteran.

SURVIVORS: Step-daughters, Terry Krugman of Odessa, Shirley Faglie and Sandra Baker, both of Midland; sisters, Clara Flourney of Seminole, Okla., and Mozella Smith of Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Joan Brake

SNYDER -- Joan Brake, 81, of Snyder, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Snyder Oaks Care Center.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hillside Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Holcomb officiating. Arrangements by Wright Funeral Home.

She was born in Junction was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Martha McCord of Odessa; son, Jim Brake of Sparks, Nev.; brothers, Lonnie Coleman Jr. of Gun Barrel City and Bob Coleman of Eldorado, Ark.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mable Carter

KERMIT -- Mable Carter, 87, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Winkler County Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m Sunday at Belvue Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel.

She was born in Coleman County and was an eight-year resident of Kermit. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Dorothy Campbell, Alice Dodd and Virige Adams, all of Wink; sister, Juanita Huff of Old Salem; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

James Harlan

CRANE -- James Harlan, 81, of Galveston, a retired driller, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Crane County cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Parker officiating. Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Homes.

He was born in Westville, Okla., and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Sharon K. Allen of Galveston; sons, John Harlen of Pampa, Robert Harlen of Plfugerville; sister, Imogene Harlan of Edmond, Okla.; brother, Lloyd Harlan of Midland; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jack Hughins

ODESSA -- Jack Hughins, 80, of Odessa, a retired diesel mechanic, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born in Roanoke, Va., and moved to Odessa in 1986 from Orland, Calif. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Gladys Hughins of Odessa; son, Steven Hughins of Breckenridge; daughter, Lynett Sousa of Odessa; brother, Jim Hughins of Aptos, Calif.; sister, Julia Lorentz of San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bill LaQuey

BROWNWOOD -- Bill LaQuey, 69, of Blanket, a retired pumper for Arco Oil and a rancher, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley cemetery. Arrangements by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

He was born in Gilliland and moved to Blanket in 1987. He was an Army veteran. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Norma Jean LaQuey of Blanket; daughters, Connie Vance of Lubbock and Judy Ehlers of Arizona; son, Stephen LaQuey of Blanket; sister, Pat Pyka of San Antonio; mother, Leola LaQuey of Seymore; and six grandchildren.

Joy McCracken

LONGVIEW -- Joy Rose McCracken, 72, a retired salesperson, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hallsville cemetery with the Rev. John Wallingford officiating. Arrangements by Welch Funeral Home.

She was born in Coleman County and moved to Longview in 1982 from Odessa. She was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Daughter, Paula J. McCracken Tullos of Hallsville; sons, Don McCracken of Hallsville and Tommy McCracken of Ben Wheeler; brother, E.B. "BlueTempleton of Bandera; sisters, Gloria Yelek of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Jewell Thomason of Temple; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

ArDee Morgan

MIDLAND -- ArDee Morgan, 84, of Midland, a retired drilling supervisor, died Tuesday, March 4, 1998, at his residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bellview Baptist Church with the Rev. Myron L. Unruh officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.

He was born in Mill Creek, Okla., and moved to Midland in 1961. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Golda Morgan of Midland; sons, James Morgan of Midland and Ray D. Morgan of Lee Summitt, Mo.; sisters, Alma Kirk of Lawton, Okla., and Claudie Hood of Oregon.
