James ‘Jim’ Boyles
ODESSA — James “Jim” Boyles, 74, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Semper Care of Midland. He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Breckenridge to Wave and Gladys Boyles.
Jim was known to many as Bumpus, Papa, Jim Dandy, Pal and Buddy. He had worked for E.L. Farmer before serving in the Army during the Korean War. He was past owner of M&S Grocery and had worked for Foremost and Metzger Dairy before he retired from Gandy’s Dairy after 25 years of service.
He married
Janice Elaine Cearley on July 25, 1953, in Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lucille Smith; and three brothers, John, Bobby and Bennie Boyles.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Boyles of Odessa; daughter, Melody Gilbert and husband, Ragon, of Odessa; brothers, Frank Boyles and wife, Leslie Mae, of Tacoma, Wash., Wave Boyles and wife, Kayla, and Don Boyles and wife, Linda, all of Odessa; sisters, Leona Moffitt of Odessa and Polly Stevens and husband, Ellis, of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Landry, Chase and Kesslie; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Donny Williams and Clydel Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Program at First United Methodist Church or First Baptist Church TV Ministry.

Thomas Edward ‘Tommy’ Hall
ODESSA — On Nov. 4, 2003, our beloved father went to join our mother in Heaven. Our dad was born June 8, 1931, in New Orleans, La., and grew up in Rankin. He served his country by joining the Army and serving during the Korean War.
Dad met and later married
our mom, Margaret Cox, on June 8, 1952, in Taylor, Texas. They were married
fifty years, until she passed away in late August. The same year they were married
, dad graduated from TCU with a bachelor’s degree in pre-law. However, with the West Texas oil boom going on, dad instead became a salesman in the field.
He was very involved in the community. He was a longtime member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the High Noon Optimist Club. Along with our mother and several other couples, dad was a founding member of Bethany Christian Church.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and golfing, but loved football. Weekends usually consisted of Friday night Permian games, Saturday TCU games and Sunday Dallas games.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon King and her companion, Charles Morehead, of Odessa and Lisa Twilligear and husband, Rick, of Gardendale; grandson, Travis Twilligear of Gardendale; and granddaughter, Marlisa Keene and husband, Steve, of Odessa.
A memorial service has been set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Bethany Christian Church.

Mildred Leona Goddard McAdoo
ODESSA — Mildred Leona Goddard McAdoo, 102, of Robert Lee and formerly of Odessa, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the Rose Hill cemetery in Odessa. Arrangements are under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Mrs. McAdoo was born on Aug. 22, 1901, in Roger Mills County to Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Goddard. She married
William R. McAdoo and together they had three children, Norma Townsend of Grove, Okla., Virginia Mae Clements of Midland and William R. McAdoo Jr. of Robert Lee, all of whom preceded her in death.
She was blessed to be survived by her sister, Wynona Goad of New Kirk, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Rachel McAdoo of Robert Lee; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Benjamin M. Reyes
ODESSA — Benjamin M. Reyes, 51, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was a beloved father, husband, son and brother. Benjamin was born Nov. 27, 1951, in Marfa, Texas. He had lived in Odessa since 1952. He attended Odessa schools and was employed with Permian Music Co. as an instrument repairman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos L. Reyes Sr. Benjamin is survived by his mother, Maria M. Reyes; son, Benjamin Reyes Jr.; brothers, Carlos M. Reyes Jr. and wife, Victoria, and Robert Reyes; sister, Martha Montemayor and her husband, Rick; nieces, Sandy Reyes and Tara Montemayor; and nephew, Roger Montemayor all of Odessa.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Revered Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Reyes, Ruben Reyes, Joe Marquez, Roger Montemayor, Randy Davis and Benjamin Reyes Jr.

Jimmy ‘J.R.’ Richardson
ODESSA — Jimmy ‘J.R.’ Richardson, 66, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 at his residence. He was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Broken Bow, Okla. He was very proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage.
Mr. Richardson was a car dealer in Odessa for over 35 years. He was very proud that in his long career that he sold close to 10,000 cars and helped many families in need with financing. Many times, he would waive the down payment. In his 35 years, he gave cars to people in need and sold many cars to several generations in the same family.
His reputation as an honest and reputable dealer was known throughout the Permian Basin.
He is survived by his wife, Dena Richardson of Bulverde; son, Robert Richardson and wife, Melanie, of New Braunfels; daughters, Rhonda Richardson Grimmett and husband, Larry, of Murrietta, Calif., Janice K. Richardson and Terry Richardson both of Bulverde; brother, Rodney Batson of Weatherford; three grandchildren, Ashlyn Richardson of New Braunfels, Stephanie Simmons of Bulverde and Christopher Simmons of Murrieta, Calif.
A memorial service will be held noon Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at 6496 W. University, Odessa.
Mr. Richardson’s cremains will be scattered on his ranch in Sanderson on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. Anyone interested in going can meet at noon at the Courthouse in Sanderson, Texas.

Philip F. Hock Jr.
MIDLAND — Philip F. Hock Jr., age 60, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at his residence. He was born March 21, 1943 in Fort Snelling, Minnesota, the son of Philip F. Hock, Sr. and Harriet Heaser Hock. He served two years in the U.S. Army as a nuclear weapons specialist. Philip graduated magna cum laude from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky in 1968 with a BS in Geology and Biology then continued graduate studies with a fellowship from the National Science Foundation, and in 1970 received his MS in geology from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M.
He and Angela Lynn Kelley married
in Louisville, Kentucky September 2, 1967, and their family grew to three children: Sherilyn, David, and Elizabeth. His career as a petroleum geologist began with Exxon Co-USA in Midland in 1971, then in Andrews, TX and Corpus Christi, TX. Other positions followed in Oklahoma with Robinson Brothers Drilling Company, Reading and Bates, and RAMCO. He and Angela returned to Midland in 1993, where Philip was employed with Southwest Royalty Company. He began teaching science for Buena Vista Independent School District in 1999, then with Ector County Independent School District at Ector Junior High School until May 2003.
Philip is survived by his wife of 36 years, Angela Hock of Midland, Texas; son, David William Hock of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Sherilyn Herndon of Memphis, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Haralson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Andrew Richard Herndon, Nathan Philip Herndon, and Carolyn Elizabeth Herndon, and his sons-in-law: Corey Glenn Herndon and Charles Andrew Haralson. He is further survived by a sister, Louise Shively of Columbus, Ohio; brother, William Hock of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces and nephews: Diane and Matt Shively, Philip, Bill and Abby Hock, Erin Osborne, Daniel and Alice Regneri, Katy and Gretchen Kreinbihl, and Anne Kelley, a great-niece and great-nephew, Jade and Danny Osborne. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Midland, with The Reverend Dr. Mark Cannaday officiating, and The Reverend Josie Rose and The Ven. Dana Wilson assisting.

James Bill Storie
ODESSA — James Bill Storie, our beloved father and friend, went to his heavenly home November 12, 2003 at the age of 87.
He was known as Bill to friends and family. He loved his family and his country. He served a tour of duty for the Navy and another tour of duty for the Marine Corp. He worked hard all his life, building his own company known and respected as Storie Plastering Company. He was also proud to be a 32nd degree master mason for more than 50 years.
You’ll always be with us Pop, always.
He is survived by his son, James Bruce Storie; wife Vickie of Odessa; daughter, Tanya Kay Searcey and husband, Dave of San Antonio; brothers, Ted Storie of Marshall, Texas; Wayne Storie of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Bret, Martha and Mathew Searcey and Jennifer Storie.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

CRANE — LaVerne Chrane, 78, of Lubbock and formerly of Crane, a retired elementary schoolteacher, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Lubbock.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mary Street Church of Christ with Ministers David Bonner and Gene Klutts officiating. Burial will be in the Crane County cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She was born in Post.

BRECKENRIDGE — Alta Faye Geiger, 70, of Breckenridge, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003.

She was born in Colorado City. She was Baptist.
