Born in Lynn County, Texas, our Dad joined the U.S. Army. After adventures, he returned to work many, many double shifts as a roughneck in the West Texas oil fields. As he climbed the oilfield ladder, he traveled to Trinidad, Singapore, Asia and Syria. During the War of Desert Storm, our Dad traveled to Kuwait to help put out oil fires that were supposed to last for five years. The fires were put out in nine months. As it is said, “You want Hell put out … send a Texas oilman.” Besides the Kuwaiti fires, among his professional accomplishments were offshore drilling and working in West and South Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. He was employed by E.O.G. Resources as a Division Drilling Superintendent. Our Dad’s career had spanned 36 years of oilfield and hard work with little more than a G.E.D. Sometimes hard work and life experiences outweigh higher forms of education. Our Dad enjoyed restoring classic American cars, NASCAR, traveling with our mom, and being with family and friends. Our Dad was a very special man that had a kind heart and compassion for everyone. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was the most generous person that we have ever known. He will be missed always. Our Dad was the definition of honesty, integrity and fairness. But most of all, he was our Dad and we are very proud of him.
We want to thank Hays County E.M.S., ER staff, ICU nurses, doctors, and staff of the ICU at St. David’s Hospital, as well as our family and friends.
