Lennie Jones
ODESSA — Lennie Ann Jones, 54, a sales clerk at Charlie Marie for Grandmother’s clothing store, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Hospice House.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Chapa Funeral Home with Dick Brown officiating. Arrangements are by Chapa Funeral Home.
She was born in Kermit.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Ann Marie Headrick of Odessa; parents, David and Charles Marie Harwell of Odessa; and two grandchildren.

Gene Taylor
KERMIT — Gene Taylor, 75, of Kermit, a self-employed barber, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Family Service Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Services Funeral Parlor.
He was born in Dangerfield. He was a Navy veteran.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Ann Taylor of Kermit; daughters, Martha Vining of Lubbock and Mary Rainer of Flagstaff, Ariz.; son, Howard Taylor of Spring; brothers, Edwin Taylor of Hope Ark., and Jerald Taylor of Greeley, Colo.; and nine grandchildren.

O’Day Vogelman
El Paso — O’Day Vogelman, 80, of Mineral Wells, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Fort Bliss National cemetery in El Paso. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors of Odessa.
He was born in Little Rock, Ark. He was a Navy veteran.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Dorothy Vogelman of Mineral Wells; stepdaughter, Sharlet Evans of Mineral Wells; stepsons, Dennie Matthews of Houston and Scott Matthews of West Memphis, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Forrest Johnson
ANDREWS — Forrest D. Johnson, 76, of Andrews died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at his residence.
Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home.

Cruz Vargas
ODESSA — Cruz Vargas, 85, of Odessa died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services are pending with Chapa Funeral Home.

Betty Gray
MONAHANS — Betty Joyce Gray, 67, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Box officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery in Stanton. Arrangements are by Family Funeral Services/

SURVIVORS: Husband, Bobby Gray of Monahans; sons, Rusty Gray of Monahans and Rick Gray of San Angelo; daughters, Kim Passmore and Karen Williams, both of Monahans; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Robert McCourt
MIDLAND — Robert “Bob” McCourt, 75, of Midland, a retired employee of Wedge Wire Line, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Oscar Bejil officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. He served in the Navy and the Army.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Judy McCourt of Midland; son, Bobby McCourt; daughters, Kathy Reeves and Debbie Hostas; sisters, Carol Johnson and Peggy McCourt; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Doris Swindell
ODESSA — Doris Swindell, 82, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Regency Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Dillard, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1944 from Levelland. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
SURVIVORS: Sons, James David Swindell and William Donald Swindell, both of Odessa; daughter, Jerry Lee Cox of Odessa; sister, Ruby Newman of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Lula Roach
ODESSA — Lula Pearl Roach, 83, of Odessa died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Hospice House.
Services are pending with Chapa Funeral Home.

Jackie Norlane Forrester
ODESSA — Jackie Norlane Forrester, 79, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003. She was born on Oct. 9, 1924, in Lawton, Okla. She had been a resident of West Texas for 40 years, moving here from Houston, Texas.
She married James P. Forrester in September of 1943, in Lawton, Okla. She was a collection agent for Sears Roebuck for 20 years. She then moved into sales at Sakowitz Department Store in Midland, Texas. She loved to camp and travel. Her favorite place to camp was at Ladybird Johnson State Park in Fredericksburg, Texas, where she would spend her winters. She also loved to crochet and quilt along with gardening. Most of all she loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Bea Ford; her father, Dewey Glass; her daughter, Norlane Jones; and her son, Steve Forrester. She is survived by her husband, James Forrester of Odessa; one son, Brad Forrester and wife, Sheri, of Odessa; son-in-law, Sherman Jones of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Olga Forrester of Odessa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Tapley officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Nadine Marrs Jordan
ODESSA — Nadine Marrs Jordan, 86, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Comanche Trail Nursing Center in Big Spring. She was born Feb. 24, 1917, to W.M. ‘Bill’ and Margaret Talley Marrs in Portales, N.M.
Nadine came to Odessa with her family in the fall of 1927. After graduating Salutatorian of her class at Odessa High School, she worked as secretary to Murry H. Fly, ECISD Superintendent of Schools. She married Woodrow Wayne Jordan on March 7, 1936 in Kermit. Nadine worked many years as bookkeeper for Automotive Machine and Supply and as office manager for Trico Industries.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Jordan Barbee, her parents and two brothers, Marvin N. Marrs and Howard M. Marrs. Survivors include her son, Mark Jordan and wife, Donna, of Odessa; brother, L.J. Marrs and wife, Margie, of Odessa; sister, Billie Marrs Green of California; three granddaughters, Diane Barbee Herrington of Fort Worth, Hannah and Molly Jordan of Odessa; nieces and nephews, Lou Ann Marrs Wilkerson of Comanche, Loree Marrs Britt of Midland, Marcus Marrs of Odessa, Tony Marrs of Odessa, Gary Marrs of Llano, Paul Marrs of Lockhart, Sharon Kaye Marrs Manley of Colorado, Judy Green Freeland of California and Beverly Green Paul of Arizona.
Throughout her life, Nadine stood up fiercely for what she believed and for those she loved. She will be sorely missed. All of us love her deeply.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Luther Eugene Stewart
ODESSA — Luther Eugene Stewart, beloved husband, father and “Poppa,” age 79, of Odessa passed away peacefully in rest at his residence early Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003. He was born July 25, 1924, in Ada, Okla., to Luther and Vance Stewart.
On Jan. 27, 1945, he married Winona Earl Childress in Fitzhugh, Okla. Luther served as a Navy pilot during WWII. Shortly after his discharge in 1946, he went to work for Stanolind of Indiana, the predecessor of AMOCO.
After retiring from AMOCO in 1984, he enjoyed teaching Oil Field Technology at UTPB until his second retirement in 1990. He enjoyed playing golf, building golf clubs, barbecuing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Winnie Stewart of Odessa; son, Larry E. Stewart and wife, Deborah, of Midland; daughter, Sharon O’Donnell of Odessa; three grandsons, Timothy Dean Stewart, Brandon Lucas Stewart and Cody Gene O’Donnell; five granddaughters, Laura Suzanne West, Ashley Nicole Green, Whitney Denise Stewart, Kristin Suzanne O’Donnell and Brooke Allison Stewart; three great-grandchildren, Logan David West, Tanner John Green and Rachael Suzanne O’Donnell.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Church of Christ pastor, Larry Roberts officiating.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Sally Peery Searls
ODESSA — Sally Peery Searls passed away Oct. 10, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born March 3, 1929, in Odessa, Texas, to John W. Peery and Bernice Peery.
After graduating from Odessa High School in 1945, Sally attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. She graduated from Stephens College in 1947. Soon after graduation, she married Robert S. Searls on July 19, 1947. Theirs was a special union that lasted 54 years.
Sally was always active in her children’s lives. For 12 years, she was a Girl Scout leader for many different troops. She held active positions with the Girl Scout Council in Ector County. As a member of the Medical Center Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, Sally volunteered her time and talent.
She was a founding board member of the Abused Children’s Shelter, which is now known as Harmony Home. She was active in the Odessa Country Club, serving as a Past President of the Women’s Association. She also was a member of the OCC Women’s Golf Association.
To all her many friends and acquaintances, Sally was always a joy. She laughed loudly and often. She brought a humorous perspective to any aspect of life. People loved to be around her just to join in on her fun. She was loved and admired by her family.
Her beloved husband, Bob, passed away in 2002.
She is survived by her three children, daughter, Susan Collier and husband Roy, son, John Searls and wife Jennifer and daughter, Linda Neidert and husband Bob. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Steven Collier and wife Cindy, Stacy Collier, Lynette Neidert, Robert Neidert, Cort Searls, Pierce Searls and Halston Searls; nephew, Robert Searls and wife Yolanda; niece, Ceci Leonard and husband Jack; family members, Luisa and Jim Searls; and special friends, Nelson Allison, Marion Luper, Pauline Marshall, Paul Cunningham and Mazie Duffie.
Pallbearers will be Boyd Cowan, David Salmon, Jimmy Goates, Tim Edgmon, Pat Campbell and Joe Mac Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Bradley, Ted Roden, Paul Cunningham, Bill Fowler, T.J. Barton, B.G. Newberry and Ace Barnes.
Funeral Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Tamplin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medical Center Hospital Women’s Auxiliary or Harmony Home.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
