BALMORHEA — Sandra Ann Garcia, 33, of Balmorhea, a personal accountant, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in Midland.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ with Doug Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Balmorhea cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She was born in Pecos. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: parents, Tommy Sr. and Gloria Garcia of Balmorhea; brother, Tommy Garcia Jr.; sisters, Mary Rodriguez, Cherry Garcia and Cathy Garcia, all of Balmorhea; and grandparents, Timoteo and Cinderella Garcia of Balmorhea and Estella Villarreal of Marfa.

Dora Hayter
FORT STOCKTON — Dora Frances Alma Hagelstein Hayter, 78, of Fort Stockton, a retired math teacher, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Miles and Ann Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in San Angelo. She was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Son, Bob Hayter of Fort Stockton; daughter, Mary Lynn Page of El Paso; sister, Meta Simmons of Richmond, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Lowell Lund
KERMIT — Lowell Parker Lund, 79, of Midland, a retired Northern Natural Gas employee, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Family Services Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Mohler officiating. Burial will follow at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Family Services Funeral Parlor.
He was born in Story County, Iowa.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary Lund of Midland; daughters, Loretta Tarango and Melinda Compton, both of Midland and Vickie Frie of Wink; sons, Paul Lund and Mark Lund, both of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Robert Miles
PECOS — Dr. Robert E. Miles, 84, of Pecos, a retired dentist, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. James Miles and Matthew Miles officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest cemetery in Fort Davis. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Davis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Charlotte Miles of Pecos; son, Dr. James Miles of Fort Stockton; daughter, Ruth Miles Biller of Lacey Springs, Ala.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Beverly Rowan
ODESSA — Beverly Johnson Rowan, 46, of Odessa, a registered nurse, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at her residence.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Sherman.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Melissa Land of Odessa; mother, Anna Johnson of Odessa; and sister, Gail Johnson of San Diego.

ODESSA — Edwin Ray Newton, 60, of Odessa, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Bernice Bailey
ODESSA — Bernice Bailey, 98, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Andrews West cemetery with the Rev. Mike Bryant officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She was born in Lawton, Okla. She was a 48-year resident of Andrews.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Dorothy Harmon of Orange and Nancy Helvey of Andrews; son, Charles Bailey of Andrews; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mack Powers
MONAHANS — Mack Powers, 84, of Monahans, a retired Sharp Drilling employee, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Gordon Cox officiating. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home.
He was born in Dallas.
SURVIVORS: Stepdaughter, Jill McKinney of Dallas; brothers, W.B. Powers of Silver City, N.M., Nile Eugene Tudor of Port Lavaca and Ennis B. Tudor of Hatch, N.M.; sisters, Watsie Counts of California, Mary Lottie Bickle of Granbury and Dolly Wooten of El Cajan, Calif.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Guadalupe Rios
STANTON — Guadalupe Aguirre Rios, 61, of Stanton, a nurse’s aide, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, in Stanton.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Wilhelm officiating. A rosary was said at 8 p.m. Saturday at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery. Arrangements by Stanton Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel.
She was a longtime resident of Stanton. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Innocencio Rios of Stanton; sons, Manuel Aguirre Jr. of Denton, Johnny Aguirre and Felipe Jesse Aguirre, both of Stanton; daughters, Sally Valles of Midland, Mary Ann Moreno, Linda Ramirez and Lucy Rios, all of Stanton; brothers, Matilde Cortez Sr. of Stanton and Julio Garza of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Santiago Sais
PECOS — Santiago Sais, 84, of Pecos, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Balmorhea and was a lifelong resident of Pecos. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Eloisa Sais of Pecos; sons, Salvador Sais of Andrews, Alvaro Sais of Ardmore, Okla., and Henry Sais of Pecos; and 11 grandchildren.

Robert Stokes
ODESSA — Robert Stokes, 82, of Odessa, a retired oilfield service operator, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services have not been scheduled. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Geneva, Ohio.
SURVIVORS: Wife; Jackie Stokes of Odessa; son, Herbert Stokes of Houston; daughter, Christy Perry of Lubbock; brother, Jimmy Stokes of Ashtabula, Ohio; sister, Dorothy Howard of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

FORT WORTH — Lawrence Sheppard, 73, of Fort Worth, a retired production worker for Hobbs Trailer, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at McMillan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jackie Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the Dallas/Fort Worth National cemetery. Arrangements by Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors.
He was born in Breckenridge. He was a former resident of Odessa.

Sheppard of Fort Worth; son, Larry Sheppard of Fort Worth; daughters, Cathy Jane and Veda Parker, both of Fort Worth; stepsons, Johnny Bryant, Dennis Bryant, Rickie Bruton and Lonnell Oliver, all of Fort Worth; stepdaughters, Linda Walker, Tammie Bryant and Carmen Bryant, all of Fort Worth; brother, Freddie Norton of Fort Worth; sister, Barbara Norton of Fort Worth; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
