Mary Oswald
BAILEY — Graveside services for Mary Francis Bryant Oswald, 72, of Cumby, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Aldridge Ridge cemetery near Bailey, Texas, with Rev. Stan Corcoran officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of LyBrand-Pemberton Funeral Home of Commerce. Mrs. Oswald died Monday in a Conroe hospital.
She was born Feb. 3, 1931, in Commerce, the daughter of the late Fred Albert and Francis Edna Bryant. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1948 and was active in alumni affairs. She was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Don Crownover in 1985; and by husband, Joe Oswald, in 1995; Mrs. Oswald had lived in Cumby the past three years.
Mrs. Oswald is survived by her son, Danny Wilson and wife, Lori, of Montgomery, Texas; and sister, Annie Fred Abernathy of Cumby; two nephews, Mark Abernathy of Douglasville, Ga., and Billy Abernathy of Cumby; two nieces, Bobbi Abernathy of Friendswood and Ruth Abernathy of Crandall; one great-nephew, Andy Abernathy; and two great-nieces, Whitney Abernathy and Katie Abernathy.
Mrs. Oswald was also preceded in death by infant sons, Jim Bob and David Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Nick Bermea
KERMIT — Nick Bermea, 92, of Kermit, a former truck driver, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrangements are by Cooper Funeral Chapel.
He was born in Del Rio and was a 39-year resident of Kermit. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Connie Bermea of Kermit; sons, Oscar Bermea of Kermit, Sammy Bermea of Monahans, Efren Castro of Odessa and Abel Castro of Big Spring; daughters, Estella Avila of Odessa and Peggy Barrara of Kermit; brother, Alfred Bermea of San Jose, Calif.; sister, Olivia Olvera of Houston; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Richard Gutierrez
PECOS — Richard “Calo” Gutierrez, 87, of Pecos, baker and owner of Dicks Sweet Shop, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at his residence.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Pecos. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was Catholic.

ODESSA — Mario Pando Levario, 27, of Odessa, an employee of the City of Lafayette, La., died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, in Scott, La.

ODESSA — Jerry Lee Nealy, 63, of Odessa, a retired chef, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in Houston.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. R. S. Sutton officiating. Burial will be at the Ector County cemetery, Rose Hill Section. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Granger and moved to Houston from Odessa.
