Doris was loved by many for her truly unselfish generosity, charitability, compassion, courage and kind understanding. As an employee of Mrs. Baird’s bread store on Dixie Street for fifteen years, she was always willing to help people in need with donations of food and money and expected nothing in return. Her charitability extended to animals as well, in particular to countless cats she rescued and cared for. A lifelong Democrat, she never backed away from a lively political debate. Many sought her out just to talk to because of her non-judgmental attitude. Her honesty and fairness were a model to all who knew her. She had a great love of music and a wonderful sense of humor; she loved British comedy, especially Monty Python. A romantic at heart, she was an avid reader of Jane Austen and romance novels.
She was married
to William (Bill or Pappy) Levins for 53 happy years, and was the great love of his life. Still obviously in love even after so many years, Doris and Pappy had a relationship that was rare and beautiful. A devoted mother, she always put her two children, Rebecca (Becky) and William (Willy), first. She is survived by her husband, two children, five grandchildren and three cats.
Visitation is at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mario Pando Levario
ODESSA — Mario Pando Levario, 27, of Odessa passed away Monday, August 25, 2003, in Scott, La. He was born December 17, 1975, in Ojinaga, Mexico, to Ramon Sr. and Horetencia Levario. He was a Christian Catholic and employed with the City of Lafayette, La. His greatest desire was to find his purpose in life.
Those who knew him understood his sense of humor. He was known for his laughter and constant joking. To his brothers and sister, he is remembered as their “little brother.” To his parents, he is remembered as the one who needed extra love. Mario ventured out of state in hopes of finding his purpose. His family that stayed behind prayed and hoped that he would. There to receive him with open arms were more family. During his stay he enjoyed his newfound friendship with Barry. The two spent most of their time with family and friends. In the short time together they explored the depth of life.
With help from his loving brother, his sister-in-law and a local church the journey seemed fruitful. Back home his parents, brothers and sister rejoiced that things were going well. The day of the tragedy laid questions of uncertainty. Back at home his parents questioned; his only sister stunned; his brothers searched their feelings.
There in Louisiana, his brother searched his heart. In the hours that followed a light beamed in the darkness. Maybe not all questions were answered, but the one question that was, was Mario’s purpose. There in, KOA Campground, Scott, La., many witnessed love, hope and life. The love for mankind, the hope of eternity and the purpose of life. Mario Levario will never be forgotten. He lives with the Father in heaven and in the hearts of those left behind.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sebastian Chavez Levario. He is survived by son, Mario Alexis Levario of Odessa; parents, Ramon Sr. and Hortencia Levario of Odessa; brothers, Francisco Levario and wife, Ana, of Ojinaga, Carlos Levario of Odessa, Ramon Levario Jr. and wife, Juana, of Odessa, Edgar Levario of Odessa; sister, Maria L. Torres and husband, Isai, of Odessa; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Gerardo Rodriguez, Arturo Ramos, Gabriel Ramirez, Felipe Ramirez, Joel Flotte, Jose Angel Flotte, Chris Apodaca and Amado Gonzales.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, August 29, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
