Mr. Juedeman was a mainstay of the Republican Party in Texas and was instrumental in building an effective party apparatus in Ector County during the early 1960s, an era when state and local politics were dominated by the Democratic Party. Relying on his experience as a three-term representative in the Montana Legislative Assembly, he mentored young Republican candidates running for office, advised party faithful on the creation of an effective vote getting organization, and campaigned tirelessly for Texas Republican issues and candidates for over three decades. Characterized by a positive attitude and an ever-present sense of humor, he zestfully entered the political fray. Victories were received with cheerful grace, and losses were received without bitterness or rancor.

In 1936, he moved from Oklahoma to Montana and began farming wheat, barley and mustard near the Canadian border. In 1952, he was elected to the House of Representatives in the Montana Legislative Assembly. During a successful six-year tenure in the Montana House, he became Republican minority leader and served as Chairman of the Montana Republican Party. In 1958 he moved to Odessa and partnered with his best friend and brother-in-law, M. F. “Jake” Lawless, in a series of oil and gas investments that stretched over a 25-year period. Levi W. McGlothlin
BELLEVUE — Family and friends regret to inform of the passing of Levi Walter McGlothlin on Jan. 3, 2004. He was the husband of Ginger R. McGlothlin; father of Melissa L. Gray, LizBeth Frazier, Jeffrey S. Moore and Rebecca S. Guenoune; nine grandchildren, Tyler Gray, Allison, Erin and Matt Frazier, Austin and Megan Moore, Vincent, Malory and Adam Guenoune; brother of Beth Lyn Kirkpatrick and son of Bess and the late L.W. “Mac” McGlothlin.
Born on March 20, 1940, in Hobbs, N.M., Levi spent most of his childhood in Oklahoma and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1958 where he formed lifelong friendships and was especially proud of becoming an Eagle Scout. He went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1964 and continued in the family business of gas testing and measurement for Thurmond-McGlothlin Inc. in Midland from 1965 to 1981. He then moved to Bridgeport, W.V., from 1981 to 1985 where he formed Black Stallion Drilling and Eastern Flow Products.
Thereafter he moved to Annapolis, Md., where he started Teller Training Institute (1987-1991) and subsequently established Applied Career Training (1991-present) with his wife, Ginger. Having homes in both Annapolis and Arlington, Va., he most recently moved to Fairfax Station, Va. Levi served on the Presidential Advisory Committee and Political Action Committee of the Career College Association (CCA), as President of the Virginia Career College Association (VCCA), The Virginia Governor’s Advisory Board and The Workforce Investment Board, among others.
A romantic man, Levi loved poetry, art, music and reading. His friends know that his favorites were Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and that he knew every word of every song that each wrote. Discussing these songs or a great movie or book over a fine wine are fond memories for all. Traveling with the love of his life, Ginger, and their friends were passions that could only be overshadowed by having his grandchildren close by. Favorite pastimes included sailing the Chesapeake Bay on his boat “Tangled Up in Blew, ” golf and discussing events of the day and politics.
Levi lived every day of his life to the fullest. Never letting an early injury slow him down he had a sincere “joie de vivre” that spilled over into every friend that he had and every person that he met. Levi will forever be in the minds and hearts of all that he touched. The earth has lost a fine man but the world is a better place because of him. “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” — Abraham Lincoln.

Patsy Lee Barnett
ODESSA — As a mother, she was the best. She welcomed the triumphs and was there for us during the valleys. Pat Barnett was born in Arkansas and was raised in St. Louis, Illinois. She moved to Iraan, Texas, in 1956 where she met and married
Billy Barnett in July 1958. She had two boys who love her dearly. In 1987, she not only was “Mama, ” she also became “Nana.”
Nana touched the lives of all those around her, especially those who were closest to her. She loved life and all the adventures that went along with it. She was an “active” participant in the game of life. Nana was always up for an opportunity to get out of the house, to watch one of her grandkids or just to sit down and play a game.
Nana loved kids and was a friend to all of their friends. There wasn’t anything that you couldn’t talk to Nana about. She passed no judgement, but if you asked her opinion about something, she defiantly gave one. She was always there when you needed her.
She especially loved Brandy, Billy, Guy and Garrett. I do not know if she bragged to her friends about them, but everyone could tell that she did by looking into her eyes. Many of Nana’s days were spent at baseball, softball, football, basketball and soccer games. She loved watching her grandkids, but most importantly she loved being a part of their lives.
Nana did not believe that this was the end, she knew that it was only the beginning. This was just a step to everlasting happiness. She wrote, “Don’t pity me, love me like you used to, I’m the same person I’ve always been. Just because I’m sick doesn’t mean I have no pride, no dignity, no feelings. Your heart is good, your love is good, God is happy.”
The family would like to thank The West Texas Cancer Center in Odessa for their dedication and hard work. We would also like to thank her very special friend in life, Jody. She has always been a friend to us, but more importantly to our mother.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Barnett of Mertzon, Texas, and Bobby Barnett of Odessa, and four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at noon Thursday at Restland cemetery in Iraan, Texas. Funeral services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
