Bobby ‘Sue’ Ramsey
ODESSA — Beloved mother, Granny, and Ma-Gone; Bobby “Sue” Ramsey, 77, of Odessa, passed peacefully into rest at her residence early Monday, Oct. 13, 2003. She was born on January 6, 1926, in Pine, Okla., to James Robert and Elsie Virginia Rogers.
After her retirement from ECISD transportation, she enjoyed the relaxing art of painting and quilting. She loved the outdoors, especially the colorful flowers, hummingbirds and beautiful sunsets. She touched the lives of all that knew her. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Gilmer of Odessa and Debbie Blackmon and husband, Tiny, of Carl Junction, Mo.; one son, Kenneth Dewayne Ramsey and wife, Claudia; grandchildren, Bonnie and Russell Hill, Connie and Sam Forewood, Sherri and Lloyd McElmurry, Wesley and Debbie Sims, Carolyn and Terry Leddon, Kim and Rickey Dennis and Donna Blackmon. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Terry Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Charles E. Castleberry
ODESSA — Charles E. Castleberry, 72, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Memorial services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Charles was born Feb. 17, 1931, to Holly Davenport and Carlos Castleberry in Reydon, Okla., where he spent his younger years. He moved to California, served in the U.S. Army and came to Odessa in the late ’70s. Charles was a truck driver. He was a Christian.
Survivors include his son, Jim Castleberry of Odessa; two other sons and a daughter who reside in Calif.; a brother, Don Castleberry of Lancaster, Calif.; also his close friend and companion, Irene McCain and children of Odessa. He will be dearly missed by all.
His parents preceded him in death.

Filomena Lebario
ODESSA — Filomena Lebario, 93, of Odessa, passed away Nov. 7, 2003, at Avalon Place.
She was born in Presidio on Feb. 8, 1910, to Fellippe Gomez and Leonarda Porras. She was a Catholic and a homemaker.
She is survived by sons, Cirilo Lebario and wife Alicia of Odessa, Francisco Lebario and wife Lori of Odessa and Hector Lebario and wife Anita of Silver City, N.M.; daughters, Manuela Mata and husband Paublo of Phoenix, Ariz., Alejandra Zapata of Phoenix and Lucy Pena and husband Fidel of Odessa; 27 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ben Pena, Ricky Pena, Fred Lebario, Ector Lebario Jr., Tony Zapata and Manuel Zapata.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel where she will be instate.
Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Barstow cemetery.

Bonita ‘Bea’ Short
KAUFMAN — Bonita “Bea” Short was born Aug. 19, 1953, to Scott and Bessie Bearden Faulkner in Texarkana, Texas.
Bea passed away Nov. 6, 2003, in Carrolton, Texas.
She was raised in Odessa where she graduated from Odessa High School in 1971, and she received her associate degree from Odessa Junior College. Bea moved to Dallas, then moved to The Colony in 1994. She worked for Country Wide Mortgage for seven years.
She married
Sidney Short on May 10, 1992, in The Colony.
Bea is survived by her husband, Sidney Short of The Colony; son, Jared Perrin of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Scotty Faulkner of China Springs, Texas; sisters, Sue Byrne of Odessa and Vonnie Faulkner of Sulpula, Okla.; and grandson, Colton Perrin.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Parker-Ashworth Chapel with interment in Morrow Chapel cemetery in the Ola Community.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
William ‘Bill’ Carlile
ODESSA — Bill Carlile, age 72, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in Big Spring. He was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Perkins, Okla., to Albert and Alveta Carlile.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Antioch Christian Church with the Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Interment will be in Perkins, Okla.
Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the Army from 1954 until 1956. He married
Alveta Fulton, April 24, 1957, in Cushing, Okla. He was a chemist for Halliburton until his retirement.
He is survived by daughters, Linda Sue Leher of San Antonio, Lea Johnston of Norman, Okla., Vicki Lee of Yale, Okla., and Charmaine Hardwick of Roanoke, Texas; sons, Rich Reams of Yale, Okla., and Chris Louis Carlile of Odessa; mother, Alveta Carlile; and sister, Charlene Matheson of Tulsa; and 15 grandchildren.

Andrea Gonzales Carrasco
ODESSA — Andrea Gonzales Carrasco, 82, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Deering Nursing Home. She was born July 26, 1921, in Sweetwater. She worked as a laundry attendant at Odessa Laundry Cleaners for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Chapa Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Services entrusted to Memorial Services Chapa Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son.
She is survived by granddaughters, Melinda Flores and husband Pete, and Melissa Sierra and husband Enrique, all of Odessa; great-grandchildren, Luis Carrasco, Christopher Carrasco, Yesenia Sierra and Pete Flores Jr., all of Odessa, and Veronica Carrasco of Dallas; brothers, Dulces Gonzales and Walberto Gonzales and wife Maria, all of Watsonville, Calif., Vincente Gonzales of Kermit and Jesus Gonzales of San Antonio; sisters, Manuela Grando and husband Jose, and Matilde Carrasco and husband Aaron, all of Odessa, and Ernestina Gonzales and Ester Escabedo, both of Cisco; and several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine Crenshaw Francis
BIG SPRING — Lorraine Crenshaw Francis, 84, of Odessa, died on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Odessa. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Mount Olive Memorial Park, Big Spring. Jimmy Francis will deliver the eulogy.
Mrs. Francis was born on Aug. 9, 1919, in Big Spring, and married
James Harvey Francis on Sept. 3, 1940, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1983.
Lorraine had worked for Walgreens of Midland as Camera Department Manager. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Rimes of Odessa; one son, Jimmy Francis and his wife, Tanya, of Lubbock; one daughter, Sallie Brooks and her husband, Steve, of Odessa; seven grandchildren, Laurie DeCair, Chris Rimes, Renee Moore, Alisha Floyd, Danny Brooks, Vanessa Brandiger and Jarred Francis; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and three sisters, Ruth Wilson, Gladys Sheppard and Lulabelle McAdams.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Couts Monroe Garland
PARKER COUNTY — Couts Monroe Garland, 91, of Midland, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in a Big Spring Care Facility. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Authon cemetery in Parker County.
Couts Garland was born Oct. 16, 1912, in the Garland Bend of the Brazos River, Palo Pinto County, Texas, to Washington Lafayette Garland and Mattie Belle Darnell Garland.
Couts’ father came to Texas from the Carolinas via Arkansas in the 1860s. He bought land and ranched in Palo Pinto County along the Brazos River. Couts attended schools in Palo Pinto County. He married
Maudine Taylor in Marietta, Okla., on April 5, 1934.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. Couts was employed as a roustabout and as a switcher in the Yates field around Iraan for the Ohio Oil Co., and later as a pumper for Texaco at Notrees, Texas, until his retirement. He worked at the Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Plant in Fort Worth during World War II. For the better part of his life, Couts raised cattle and chickens and was known for his homegrown tomatoes. He played the harmonica by ear and was a good dancer. As a young man, he excelled in track and played on the baseball teams for the oil companies where he worked. He enjoyed trotline fishing and traveling.
Couts is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Garland Burkes and Jack Burkes of Midland; his son, Pat Monroe Garland of El Paso; by a brother, Carter Rex Garland of Iraan; sister, Mayme George Hill Wenigar of Azusa, Calif.; two grandsons and their wives, K. Todd and Judy Burkes of Spring, Texas, and Terry C. and Kelli Burkes of Midland; two granddaughters, Stephanie K. Garland Ruby of Buda and Melanie Garland Baize of El Paso; 10 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and William Burkes of Midland, Kathleen, Kristen and Kolten Burkes of Spring, April Howell, Tiffany Jameson of Washington, D.C., Sean Sipes of Buda and Wade and Paige Baize of El Paso; one great-great-granddaughter, Devon; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Couts Garland was preceded in death by his wife, Maudine Taylor Garland in 1998; his father in 1918; his mother in 1964; a grandson, Pat Monroe Garland Jr. in 1984; a brother, Ollie Lee Garland in 1996; a sister, Cordie Rex Garland Dick in 1994; eight half-brothers, George Armenius Garland, John Ernest (Bud) Garland, William L. Garland, Jesse Lee Garland, Matthew Arnold Garland, Grover Cleveland Garland, Robert Ross Garland and Jackson (Jack) Garland.

Jo Ann Lewis
MANY, La. — Jo Ann Lewis, 74, of Zwolle, La., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, La., of a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Aimwell cemetery with the Rev. Steve Neesley officiating. Arrangements are by Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
She was born in Oklahoma City. She was a radiology tech.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Lewis; parents, McCaskill Sanders and Rebble Lee Sanders; and aunt, Lena Sanders.
Survivors: nephews, Paul A. Lewis and wife Pam of Denham Springs, La., Bill Sanders and wife Bettie of California, and Dorothy Simmons and husband Joe of Oklahoma City; two half-brothers and half-sister of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl L. ‘Cotton’ McBee
MIDLAND — Earl L. “Cotton” McBee, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003.
He was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Eastland and was raised and educated in McCamey and Wink, graduating from high school in Wink. In 1948, he married
Shirley Louise Peebles in Monahans. He was employed for 39 years with Exxon Co., USA, now ExxonMobil, in various supervisory and technical positions at sites in West Texas, New Mexico and California. At the time of his retirement in 1986, he was an Operations Superintendent in the Andrews District.
Cotton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley McBee of Midland; daughter, Peggy Bassett and husband, Ken, of Reno, Nev.; son, Jimmy McBee and wife, Denisa, of Seminole; daughter, Carol McBee of Midland; son, Ronnie McBee and wife, Ann, of Big Piney, Wyo.; three granddaughters, Brandy Bassett of Austin; Kristan McBee of Norfolk, Va.; Allison McBee of Dallas; three grandsons, Justin McBee of Big Piney, Wyo.; Tyler Reynolds of Midland; Austin McBee of Seminole; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at Winkler County cemetery in Kermit. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy., Midland, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Carter Copeland, Mike Metza, Jimmy McBee, Ronnie McBee, Donnie McBee and Ken Bassett.
