Helen R. Garner
ODESSA — Helen R. Garner, 80, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the Hospice House. She was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Sanderson, Texas, to Frank and Babe Harrell.
Helen attended Abilene Christian University for two years and graduated from Texas University in Austin. She was the church secretary for the 6th & Jackson Church of Christ for 12 years. She was also a member at 6th & Jackson Church of Christ for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claude R. Garner Jr. in 1985; son, James Garner in 2002; and two brothers, Aubry and Frank Harrell.
She is survived by her son, Richard Garner and wife, Montie, of Odessa; daughter, Kay Robbins and husband, Darel, of Abilene; daughter-in-law, Deby Garner of Waco; brothers, J.M. Harrell of Abilene and Jack Harrell of Sanderson; six grandchildren, Jamie Flowers of Wylie, Jackson Garner and Stacie Pruitt, both of Abilene, Clint Garner of Odessa, Lynsey and Leah Robbins, both of Abilene; and three great-grandchildren, Rylee and Ashton Garner of Odessa and Jaycee Pruitt of Abilene.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at the 6th & Jackson Church of Christ with Roy Smalling and Larry Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Sally Virginia Wright Gist

Sally Virginia Wright Gist passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004. Sally was born on July 23, 1936, in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1954.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Eric Gist.
Sally is survived by her husband, John Gist; two daughters, Gina and Joni Gist of Odessa; a stepdaughter, Randy Gist of Odessa; one grandchild, Lauren Ashley Gist; mother, Maxine Wright of Odessa; sister, Sandra Schmitz and husband, Monroe, of Gardendale; a stepsister, Anona McCart of Midland; three stepbrothers, Tom Sherman of Midland, Ron Sherman of Sentinal, Okla., and Craig Wright of Las Cruces, N.M.
Sally always wanted to be a teacher and what a wonderful teacher she was. She began as a homebound teacher in Odessa in 1988 to students who were ill at home. She went beyond the call of duty and was always there for them night or day.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Curtis Brewer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Barbara Ann Greene-Lasater
MIDLAND — Barbara Ann Greene-Lasater, 62, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, in a Midland hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland.
Barbara attended Midland schools and worked with the Boy Scouts of America. She was the president of PWP (Parents without Partners) and held several state offices. She was an active member of TOPS. Barbara loved fishing in the Hill Country and was a supportive friend for many people undergoing cancer treatment. She was a loving mother to her children and many other children. Many came to her for advice, support, and care.
Survivors include; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Joe Lasater of Big Spring, Lonnie Lasater of Midland, Paul and Candy Lasater of Midland, Robert and Tracy Lasater of San Angelo; one sister, Dorothy Freiley of Ruidoso, N.M.; three grandsons; seven granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Margie Greene; one brother, Bob Greene; and one grandson, Billy Joe Lasater.
The family suggests memorials be made to Allison Cancer Center, 301 North N St., Midland, TX, 79701.

W.L. ‘Bill’ Sibley
ODESSA — W.L. ‘Bill’ Sibley, 67, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in West, Texas, to William Leonard and Venice Waters Sibley.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Lynn Money officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Bill was a speech and drama teacher for 32 years at Permian High School. He was the voice of MOJO and the voice for numerous radio shows. He graduated from Odessa High School and attended Odessa College, Abilene Christian College and University of Texas at El Paso. He served in the Navy during the Korea conflict. He married
Patricia Barber in Odessa on August 28, 1960.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Barber Sibley of Odessa; son, John Morgan Sibley and wife, Deborah Ann Inman Sibley, of Odessa; daughter, Laurie Paige Sibley Fulton and husband, Tommy Fulton Jr., of Gardendale; mother, Venice Waters Sibley of Odessa; sister, Mary Katherine Blackwell of Midland; and grandchildren, Robert Brian Leonard Sibley and Kenneth Tate Irvin Sibley.
Joseph ‘Joe’ Sizemore
ODESSA — Joe Sizemore, 38, passed away at Medical Center Hospital Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, from severe head trauma.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio, to Robert and Nora Sizemore. Working on drilling rigs since 1984, everyone that met Joe knew he liked a good oilfield story.
The love of his life, Kathy, preceded him in death in 1994. He is survived by Verl and Regina Kenyon, Robert Richards, George and Amanda Scaff of Odessa, Robert, Christy, Kara and Mike Sizemore, Nora Sizemore of Dayton, Ohio, and many aunts, uncles, cousins in Ohio and Kentucky.
Joe made many friends in his short lifetime and will be in our memories forever.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Bratcher officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Irma Louise Bartlett
ODESSA — Irma Louise Bartlett, 83, of Odessa, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2004, at Deerings Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors chapel with the Rev. Harlie Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Bartlett was born April 7, 1920, in Alleene, Ark., to Joe C. and Birt Crawford. She married
Donald A. Bartlett on April 5, 1974, in Austin, Texas.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, parents and four brothers, Otis Cecil Crawford, Dillard Floyd Crawford, Millard Lloyd Crawford and Jack Lee ‘Gene’ Crawford.
She is survived by one sister, Edith Beck and husband, Raymond, of Wilton, Ark.; and children, Harlie Patterson and wife, Myrna, of Hooks, Texas, Helen Gotcher of Odessa, Larry Patterson and wife, B.J., of Huntsville, Joe Smith and wife, Melissa, of Conroe, Sue Griffith and husband, William, of El Paso, Debbie McCravy and husband, Mike, of San Angelo, and Martie Jones-White and husband, Bobby, of Austin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don Burns
GRANBURY — Don Burns, 68, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at his DeCordova residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Acton Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Acton cemetery in Acton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Mr. Burns was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Pursley to Clyde and Mary Thrailkill Burns. He married
Dixie Lee Kimmel, July 13, 1957, in Snyder. Mr. Burns served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Warren Petroleum for 41 1/2 years before retiring to DeCordova Bend Estates 6 1/2 years ago. He belonged to the Southwestern Football Officials Association and the Southwestern Basketball Officials Association and officiated high school, junior college and college sports for 29 years. He was a member of Acton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Burns of DeCordova; daughters, Cindy Burns of Dallas and Becky Diaz and husband, Ricky Jr., of Cypress; son, Ron Burns of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Miles and Mason Diaz; sisters, Jera O’Neal of Corsicana and Lynell Pollard of Snyder; and numerous nieces, nephews and additional family members.
Barbara Green
SAN ANGELO — Barbara Smith Green, 70, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at her residence.
Barbara was born June 22, 1933, in Wewoka, Okla., the daughter of Cecil Ray and Edaline Coulter Smith. She attended schools in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1950. After graduation, she attended Texas State College for Women for two years and Oklahoma State University for one year where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After marriage, she lived in Fort Worth, then moved to San Angelo in 1968. While in San Angelo, she worked at Central National Bank, Eppler, Guerin & Turner and retired from The Principle Securities Group.
Barbara was active in the Junior League in Fort Worth and San Angelo, Texas. She especially enjoyed her work with small children. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd as board member of the Vestry and the Altar Society and enjoyed participating in Cursillo and the Saturday Night Worship service. She was a loyal member of the Tom Green Country Friends of the Library and always participated in the annual book sales.
Barbara is survived by her sisters, Marjorie Petoff and her husband, George, of Seattle, Wash., and Helen Turner of Tulsa, Okla.; three children, Henry ‘Hank’ Sterling Green III and his wife, Marilee Jan, of Carrollton, Charles ‘Chuck’ Ray Green of Fort Worth and Shawn Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Green Drewes and her husband, Jon Anthony, of Yukon, Okla.; six grandchildren, Marilee Pendleton, Mattie Joan Green McClintock, Charles Sterling Green, Coulter Robert Green, Jon Anthony Drewes Jr. and Grace Kathleen Drewes; one great-grandchild, Gabriel Fisher; two nieces, Diana Turner and Mary Atzbach, both of Seattle, Wash.; and two nephews, George Petoff of Seattle, Wash., and Chris Turner of Clark, Wyo.; two stepsons, David Mieher of Austin and Stuart Mieher of Florence, Mass.

Cecil Leon Holley
ODESSA — Cecil Leon Holley of Odessa passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the Clifton Care Center in Clifton, Texas, after a lengthy illness. He was 85.
Mr. Holley was born Dec. 31, 1918, in Italy, Texas, to William and Ruth Holley. He had two older brothers who preceded him in death, J.D. Holley of Longview and Joe W. Holley of Enterprise, Ala.
Cecil played high school football for the Italy Gladiators and was so proud when his old Alma Mater won the state 1A football championship in the late 1980s. He was especially proud that the quarterback’s name was also “Holley, ” although there was no relation.
Cecil married
Margaret E. Rumbaugh on July 28, 1940, in Longview, Texas. They shared 63 years together.
Cecil was a WWII veteran and served as a platoon sergeant over 35 guards. He was a member of the 376th harbor craft company serving in the Japan occupation. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Army of Occupation Medal Japan, the Victory Ribbon and three Overseas Service Bars.
He moved to Odessa in 1947 and was employed by R.C. Rumbaugh and Sons Trucking Co., as a trucking supervisor. In 1958, he owned and operated H&W Construction, which was a road construction company. He later worked as a truck dispatcher for various companies in Odessa. He retired in 1983. His pride in retirement was his beautiful yard.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Margaret Holley; sons, Cecil Leon Holley Jr. and wife, Bette, of Houston and William Craig Holley and wife, Jackie, of Missouri City, Texas; daughter, Mary Kathryn Thorpe and husband, Bill, of Odessa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with Lynn Money Officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Cecil loved his family, and each member of his family was important to him. His health may not have always allowed him to express his tenderness of heart, but it was always there. His sense of humor, even while he was ill, kept everyone laughing and smiling. We will miss him and keep him ever in our hearts. We our proud to have called you our father and pappa.
