HEREFORD — Tommie Kemp, 71, of Hereford, formerly of Odessa, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Westgate Nursing Home in Hereford.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Taylor officiating. The family will have a private burial. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.
He was born in Gatesville. He was Catholic. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated Kemp Supply Co. for more than 40 years.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Brenda Kemp of Hereford; sons, Marc Kemp of Gatesville and Thomas Kemp of Hereford; daughters, Catherine Kemp of Edgewood, N.M., and Stacy Kemp of Houston; brother, Charles Kemp of Richardson; sister, Mava Northcutt of Clovis, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

Albina Ornelas
PRESIDIO — Albina C. Ornelas, 92, of Presidio, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, in an Odessa hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at noon today at Santa Teresa Catholic Church with the Rev. Lazaro Gonzalez Trejo officiating. Burial will be at Desert Hills cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home of Marfa.
She was born in Mexico. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Eduardo Ornelas of El Paso and Pilar Ornelas of Odessa; daughters, Socorro Ornelas Estrada, Alicia Ornelas Tavarez, Maria Ornelas Rivas and Carolina Ornelas Garcia, all of Odessa and Teresa Ornelas Leija of Carlsbad, N.M.; sisters, Faustina Munoz and Pomposa Carrera, both of El Paso; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Billy Ratliff
LADY LAKE, Fla. — Billy “Jack” Ratliff, 63, of Lady Lake, formerly of Odessa and Terrell, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements are by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services.
He was born in DeKalb County. He was Christian. He was a retired U.S. Navy Chief Machinist Mate who served in the Vietnam War. He was also a service technician and manager for Ingersoll-Rand in Dallas, and for Air Centers in Florida.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Janet “Jan” Ratliff of Lady Lake; son, Scott Ratliff of Caulfield, Mo.; daughters, Jackie Erickson of Yuma, Ariz., and Alana Farr of Smithfield, Va.; stepsons, Jimmy Vinson of Louisville, Ky., and Jeffrey Vinson of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Johnny Norman Ratliff and Lloyd Ratliff, both of Odessa; sister, Margarette Calvit of DeKalb County; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Storey
ODESSA — Mary J. Storey, 87, of Odessa, former registered nurse and operating room supervisor at University of Arkansas Hospital, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Deerings Nursing Home.
Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Nora Fitch officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Rock Run, Ala. She was Presbyterian. Beta Sigma Phi honored her as First Lady of Odessa in 1972.
SURVIVORS: Son, William A. Storey of Fayetteville, Ark.; daughters, Esther L. Storey of Odessa, Tamara J. Martin of Midland and Rosemary E. Harris of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Thompson Sr.
ODESSA — Kenneth Wayne Thompson Sr., 78, of Odessa, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Hospice House.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Rockwall. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a car salesman for Broncho Chevrolet and Sewell Ford. After retiring in 1993, he opened Triple A Motors and Triple A Auto Parts.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Kenneth Wayne “Butch” Thompson Jr. and Jack Loyd Thompson, both of Odessa; daughter, Lola Cheryl Gardenhire of Blackwell; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Hobart Vandever
KINGSLAND — Hobart Lee (H.L.) Vandever, 88, of Tow, formerly of Odessa, a retired mason, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at his residence.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Putnam Funeral Home Chapel. Private graveside services will be at Tow cemetery. Arrangements are by Putnam Funeral Home.
He was born in Crossville, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Janice Vandever of Tow; sons, David Vandever of Odessa and Jim Vandever of Stephenville; daughters, Cheryl Gaddis and Vicki Durham, both of Midland and Betty Wagner of Odessa; and 13 grandchildren.

Henry Wise
SHEFFIELD — Henry Franklin Wise, 89, of Sheffield, a retired oilfield truck driver, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at McCamey Hospital in McCamey.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Sheffield cemetery with Clay Mason officiating. Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey.
He was born in Sheffield. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Sisters, Babe Smith of Sheffield and Zola Nelson of Dallas; and one step-grandchild.

Shandi Cravens
MONAHANS — Shandi Kaylee Cravens, infant daughter of Regina Viasana and Ricky Cravens of Monahans, was born and died Dec. 13, 2003, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Stanley Huffty officiating. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Parents; brother, Vincente Viasana of Monahans; and grandparents, Regino and Shirley Viasana of Monahans and Bill and Sue Cravens of Kermit.

Billie Curtis
JAL, N.M. — Billie Jean Curtis, 86, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Kermit Health Care Center.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jal cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.
She was born in Gorman.
SURVIVOR: Brother, Bryan Moore of Jal.

Opal Evans
SHEFFIELD — Opal I. Evans, 75, of Sheffield, a homemaker, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the Regency Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Sheffield cemetery with the Rev. Owen Sharp officiating. Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She was born in Ackerly. She was Pentecostal.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Evelyn Evans and Janet Snedegar, both of Odessa; brother, Bud Ford of Fort Stockton; sisters, Leta Armstrong of Odessa and Jane Stuterville of Crane; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Willie Evans
ODESSA — Willie E. (Tapeya) Evans, 65, of Odessa, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chapa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. G.T. Garnett officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Services Chapa Funeral Home.
He was born in Temple.
SURVIVORS: Son, Ronald Walton of Odessa; daughters, Lutricia Evans and Darlene Evans, both of Odessa; and five grandchildren.

Heavenlee Lewis-Calloway
ODESSA — Heavenlee Faye Lewis-Calloway, infant daughter of Shanevelyn La’Shaun Dixon and Shon T. Calloway of Odessa, was born and died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Gene Collins officiating. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Parents; sister, Jermaisia Wyhet of Odessa; grandfather, Bobbie Palmer of Odessa; grandmothers, Gary Lewis of Odessa and Mary Calloway of Odessa; and one great-grandmother.

Francisca Martinez
ODESSA — Francisca H. Martinez, 85, of Odessa, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at her residence.
Rosary will be said 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Study Butte.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Antonio Martinez and Abundio “Leo” Martinez, both of Odessa, and Maximo Martinez of Marathon; daughters, Elisa Williford and Dalila Weeks, both of Odessa; brothers, Mack Hernandez of Hawaii and Cirilo Hernandez of Odessa; sisters, Felipa Arispe and Sophia Hinojos, both of Odessa, Ezequella Molinar of Austin and Nani Riojos of Beaumont; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
