ODESSA - Maria Fierro, 80, of Odessa, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at her residence.
Mass was celebrated Dec. 29 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial was at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements were by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in San Diego, Texas.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Sabas Fierro and Juan Fierro, both of Odessa and Jimmy Orosco of Fort Stockton; daughters, Lucy Hopkins, Rosie Cortez and Minnie Kikuchi, all of Odessa and Mary Lou Merrill of Big Spring; brother; Robert Delgado of Andrews; sister, Estella Arismendez of Shafter, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eugene Hachtel
MONAHANS - Eugene R. Hachtel, 89, of Monahans, a retired pumper for Chevron USA, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Crane Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Box officiating. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home.
He was born in Waldron, Ark. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Randy Hachtel of Odessa; and daughter, Jean Ann Roberts of College Station.

Jesse Herrera
MIDLAND - Jesse Arnulfo Herrera, 28, of Midland, a maintenance serviceman for All Green Landscaping Co., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at a Midland hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Victor Sontoya officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Pipkin Funeral Home of Midland.
He was born in Midland. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Nora Ella Lujan of Midland; father, Arnulfo Herrera of Midland; sister, Myra Herrera of Midland; and grandparents, Senovia and Cayetano Herrera of Midland.

Diane Mendoza
PECOS - Diane Mendoza, 39, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in Pecos.
Mass was celebrated Dec. 29 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial was at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements were by Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.
She was born in Portales, N.M. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Mickey Gabaldon of Pecos and Carlos Mendoza of Morten; daughter, Katie Gabaldon of Pecos; brothers, Alonzo Mendoza of Pecos and Amador Mendoza Jr. of Odessa; and sisters, Patsy Mendoza, Jeannie Wright, Maria Guadalupe Mendoza and Senada Mendoza, all of Pecos and Sally Hernandez of Morten.

A.D. Parsons
ALPINE - A.D. 'Flop' Parsons, 73, of Alpine, a former Sul Ross State University coach and teacher and real-estate broker with Parsons Real Estate, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in Alpine.
Services were Dec. 29 at Alpine Methodist Church. Burial was at Elm Grove cemetery. Arrangements were by Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born in Iraan.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Joy Parson of Alpine; son, Brent Parsons of Leander and Tim Parsons of Alpine; and two grandchildren.

Joyce Six
ANDREWS - Joyce Louise Six, 61, of Midland, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with John Snider officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Burkburnett.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Thomas Beck Six of Midland; son, Damon Six of Sugar Land; daughter, Kristi Six of Midland; sister, Reba Hulin Welch of Groves; half-sister, Mary Ellen Heinz of Mangum, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

John Spence
ODESSA - John Paul Spence, 78, of Odessa, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Hospice House.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Terre Haute, Ind. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
SURVIVORS: Brother, Ted F. Spence of Midland; and sisters, Carole Ann Zea and Mary Jane Smith, both of Odessa.

Hipolito Vasquez Jr.
PECOS - Hipolito Vasquez Jr., 48, of Pecos, a roughneck, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, in Rusk.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
He was born in Pecos. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Bertha V. Marin of Odessa; brother, Gilbert Vasquez of Midland; and sisters, Luz Rodriguez of Irving, Anna Navarrette of The Colony and Terry Vasquez of Midland.

Edna Ward
GAINESVILLE - Edna Ruth Ward, 87, of Gainesville, formerly of Odessa and Kermit, a homemaker who was retired from S.H. Kress Co., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Denton Regional Hospital.
Services were Dec. 29 at Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Casey Campbell officiating. Burial was at Mountain Park cemetery in Saint Jo. Arrangements were by Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
She was born in Montague. She was Baptist.

MONAHANS — Hannah Lavonia Skaggs Arp, 91, of Monahans, a homemaker, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, in Lubbock.

ODESSA — Bert M. Daum, 93, of Odessa, co-owner of Mildred’s Gift Shop, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nora Fitch officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. He was Presbyterian. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was in the Chuck Wagon Gang for 42 years and traveled throughout the United States and Germany promoting Odessa for 40 years.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mildred Daum of Odessa; and son, Bob Sandlin of Dallas.
