ANDREWS —Betsy Jean Wheat, 73, of Odessa, a former manager at Sears Department Store, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Andrews North cemetery with the Rev. Randy Gunter officiating. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Rotan.
SURVIVORS: Son, Wayne Wheat of Odessa; daughters, Raine St. Claire of Wimberley and Brenda Navarro of Midland; brothers, Harold Kolb of Andrews, Carrol Kolb of Idaho and Dois Kolb of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Rodney French
ODESSA — Rodney French, 63, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Hospice House.
Services are pending with Memorial Services Chapa Funeral Home.

Hilario Alvarez
FORT WORTH — Hilario H. Alvarez, 77, of Fort Worth, formerly of Odessa, a retired truck driver, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Fort Worth.
Services were held Jan. 7. Burial was at Mount Olivet cemetery. Arrangements were by Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
He was born in Balmorhea. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Viola Alvarez of Fort Worth; sons, Sammy Alvarez of Fort Worth and Hilario Alvarez Jr. of Denver; daughters, Yolanda Lopez, Corrine Sanders and Maria Emelda Alvarez, all of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Edith Barker
KERMIT — Edith Barker, 90, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Community Church with the Rev. Henry Freund officiating. Burial will be at Kermit cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Family Services Funeral Parlor.
She was born in Lee County.
SURVIVORS: Son, Jodie Barker of Kermit; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Royce Brooks
ANDREWS — Royce Brooks, 61, of Andrews, a rancher in Gaines County and a pumper for Maralo Inc., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Short officiating. Burial will be at Andrews North cemetery. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Lamesa. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Yvonne Collier of Garland, Tyna Carter of Andrews and Krysti Brooks of Odessa; father, Roy Brooks of Seminole; brother, Lyndell Brooks of Lamesa; sister, Bonita Rowlett of Seminole; and seven grandchildren.

Elvenia DeLaCruz III
ALPINE — Elvenia Rose DeLaCruz III, 44, of Alpine, a caregiver, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, in Alpine.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Floyd-Harp officiating. Arrangements are by Geeslin Funeral Home.
She was born in San Antonio. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Elvenia DeLaCruz II of Alpine; brother, Louis DeLaCruz of Austin; and sister, Alisa Ann Mount of Dallas.

LAMESA — David Gallardo, 36, of Lamesa, formerly of Odessa, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, in Ackerly.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Temple Church with the Rev. Jessie Salazar officiating. Arrange-ments are by Gonzales Funeral Home.
He was born in Lamesa. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Ofelia G. Melendez of Lamesa; brothers, Jesus Alonzo and Luis Alonzo, both of California; and sisters, Esperanza Cejudo, Senaida Roman, Enedina Silva, Juanita Pina, Ofelia Tate and Ermelinda Alonzo, all of California.

ANDREWS — Wheeler Jackson, 86, of Andrews, a former mechanic for Arco, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at a hospital in Houston.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Andrews Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Zap officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West cemetery. Arrange-ments are by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Hunt County. He was Presbyterian. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: Son, John Wheeler Jackson of Cypress; and one grandchild.

Vanita Jolley
MONAHANS — Vanita Ann Jolley, 67, of Richards, formerly of Monahans, a homemaker, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating. Arrangements are by Family Funeral Services/ Jackie Harkey.
She was born in Hamilton.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Glenn Jolley of Richards; son, Alan Tayrien of College Station and Andy Tayrien of Riverside, Calif.; daughters, Tammy Davis of Eldorado and Toni McMahan of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

MONAHANS — Lewis Earl Thomas, 74, a longtime resident of Monahans, a retired café owner, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, in Kansas City, Mo.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Monahans Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Jeppie Wilson officiating. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home.
He was born in Pittsburg, Texas. He was Methodist. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Mack Thomas and Donald Thomas, both of Dallas; daughters, Gwendolyn Thomas of Louisiana and Mary Thomas of Dallas; brother, Clifton Thomas of Leesbury; sister, Farene Thomas of Monahans; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Gary Allred, 65, of Odessa, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at his residence.

He was born in Alpine, Tenn. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Westview Church of God.
SURVIVORS: Son, Michael Allred of Odessa; daughter, Chris Windham of Odessa; brothers, Gene Allred of Livingston, Tenn., and Michael Allred of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Charlene McMahan of Livingston, Tenn.; and one grandchild.

MIDLAND — Elfriede January, 73, of Midland, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at a Midland nursing home.

She was born in Alinkendorf, Germany.

PECOS — Manuela Rodriguez, 81, of Pecos, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, in Pecos.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements are by Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.
She was born in Carizzo, Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a lifetime resident of Pecos. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Manuel Rodriguez of Pecos; sons, Benjamin Rodriguez of Houston, Rogelio Rodriguez of Odessa, Jose Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez and Jaime Rodriguez, all of Pecos; daughter, Martha Baeza of Pecos; brothers, Angel Tarin of Presidio, Nerio Tarin, Jesus Tarin and Jose Tarin, all of Pecos; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
