BIG SPRING — Antonia A. Sanchez, 89, of Big Spring, died Monday, March 1, 2004, in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. James Plagens officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
She was born in Winslow, Ariz., and had lived in Big Spring since 1920. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Enrique Sanchez of Big Spring and Humberto Sanchez of Odessa; daughters, Diamantina Sosa of Odessa, Elida Chestnut of Lubbock, Olivia Salyer of San Antonio and Edelmira S. ‘BiBi’ Licon of Lubbock; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Williams
KERMIT — Mary Alice (Ellinger) Williams, 68, of Kermit, a retired Ward County jailer, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Kermit.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Fickenscher officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Services Funeral Parlor.
She was born in Odessa.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Roger Williams of Lubbock, David Williams of Mineral Wells and Scott Williams of Kermit; daughter, Cindy Buscaglia of Kermit; sister, Scottie Ann Ellinger of Kermit; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Alex Gaut Jr.
ODESSA — Alex Gaut Jr., 65, of Odessa, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his residence.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Patricia Daniel
ODESSA — Patricia Jo Daniel, 69, of Odessa, owner of Margo Enterprise, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Frank W Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in McPherson, Kan.
SURVIVORS: Son, Bill Standefer of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Linda Deaderick of Odessa and Brenda Wilson of Mission; mother, Ann Frerking of Arlington; sister, Elaine Frerking of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.

William Freitag
ELDORADO — William “Bill” Freitag, 80, of Eldorado, an owner and operator of an oilfield inspection service, died Saturday, March 20, 2004.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lawnhaven cemetery in San Angelo with Bob Jackson officiating. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home of Eldorado.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was a former resident of Odessa before moving to a ranch in Roswell, N.M., in 1970.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Mabel Freitag of Eldorado; son, Jay Freitag of San Angelo; daughters, Kay Wiginton of San Antonio, Sheliah Safford of Orem, Utah; brother, Jimmy Freitag of Missouri; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

James Nichols
ODESSA — James Glenn Nichols, 89, of Odessa, an oilfield technical advisor, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
He was born in Preston Bend, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: One grandchild; and four great grandchildren.

Carolyn Standefer
ODESSA — Carolyn K. Standefer, 62, of Odessa, died Friday, March 19, 2004, in Odessa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors
She was born in Kermit.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Edward Standefer of Odessa; stepson, Clay Standefer of Brownwood; daughters, Tammy Neatherlin and Connie Kinney both of Odessa, Kandie L. Lockhart of North Ben, Ore.; brother, Charles W. Johns of Evant; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Charles Stevic
CANTON, OHIO — Charles E. Stevic, 80, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Christ United Church of Christ in Marshallville with the Rev. Bruce Tully officiating. Burial will be in Western Reserve National cemetery at Rittman. Arrangements by Gresser Funeral Home.
He was born in Marshallville, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Thomas Stevic of Tipp City, Ohio, and Timothy Stevic of Marshall, Va.; daughters, Susan Godfrey of Morristown, N.J., and Sandi Bush of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, William “Junior” Stevic of Odessa, Russell Stevic of Uniontown, Ohio, and Richard Stevic of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Espiria C. Salazar, 83, of Odessa, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at her residence.

FORT STOCKTON — Barton Scharlach, 38, of Fort Stockton, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Pecos County.

ODESSA — Jimmy Lee Grogan, 48, of Odessa, a Salvation Army warehouse supervisor, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill cemetery with Maj. Robert Winters officiating. A memorial service will follow at the Salvation Army. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Marston, Mo.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Christopher Grogan and Andrew Grogan, both of Odessa; mother, Katherine Freeze of Odessa; brother, Calvin Grogan of Angelton; sisters, Kathy Goheen of Gardendale and Elizabeth Kuchman of Angels Camp, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

MONAHANS — Opal Land Mattlin, 72, of Monahans, a retired kindergarten teacher, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Grace Fellowship Church with the Rev. Mark Bristow and Alton Sutter officiating. Burial will follow in the Monahans cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
She was born in Lamesa. She was a Christian.
