Nelva Ann Wilson Haynes Blanchard

ODESSA — Nelva Ann Wilson Haynes Blanchard, 66, of Ingram, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Hospice House.
She was born July 10, 1937 in Marshall. She moved to Odessa in 1960 from Marshall. She was a retired School Teacher. She was a member of the West Texas Baptist Assoc. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Iota and the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Haynes.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Blanchard of Ingram; son, Mike Haynes and wife Denise of Odessa; daughters, Holly Barron of Odessa and Joanna Haynes of Midland; mother, Clara Wilson of Marshall; brothers, Lynn Wilson and wife Nancy of Marshall and Glynn Wilson and wife Linda of Allen; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell and the Rev. Emmett Barnard officiating.
We would like to especially thank Home Hospice and the Hospice House for the loving care they gave our Mom.

O.H. Bennie

ODESSA — O.H. Bennie, 77, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
O.H. was born June 5, 1926, in Brownwood, Texas, to Olif and Mary Bennie. He graduated from high school in Junction, Texas. O.H. was a tail gunner in the Navy during World War II stationed in the Galapagos Islands. He married Sara Nan Anderson on June 21, 1952, in Odessa, Texas. He was long time involved in numerous capacities of the grocery and meat industry.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sara of Odessa, daughter Karen Burroughs and husband Joe of Odessa, son Dale Bennie and wife Liz of Norman, Okla., grandchildren Lindsey and Derek Burroughs, brother Bill Bennie and wife, Bette, of San Angelo, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial may be made to First United Methodist Church Clothes Closet, 415 N. Lee, Odessa, TX 79761.

Julia Fannin

ODESSA — Julia Fannin, 71, a retired waitress of College Station, Texas, passed away on November 19, 2003, at Sherwood Nursing Home in Bryan, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Tapley officiating; burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Red River County on May 30, 1932, to Linard and Nellie Lovell. She was united in marriage to Daniel Earl Fannin on October 25, 1952. She worked many years as a waitress but her most important job was being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Julia is survived by her husband, Daniel Earl Fannin, son Darrell Fannin and his wife Debbie and their children David Joel, Elisabeth Rebecca, Joseph Benjamin and Meaghan Breann Fannin of College Station, Texas. She is also survived by her daughter Kathryn and her husband Tommy McGough and their son Aron Franklin McGough of Bells, Texas. Everett Lee Chavers Jr. and James Walker Fannin, of her late son Terry Glynn Fannin also survive her. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Bobbie King, brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Marilyn Fannin and Walt and Doris Britton. Six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and beloved friends also survive her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Linard and Nellie Lovell and her son Terry Glynn Fannin.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

John Philip Wier

ODESSA — John Philip “Buddy” Wier, age 73, of Odessa, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2003. He was born August 1, 1930, in Alice, Texas, the son of Goode and Lucille Wier, and graduated in 1948 from William Adams High School after lettering in football and band. He attended North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington and Texas A&I in Kingsville. On June 6, 1953, he married Jean Pagel in Cotulla, Texas, and was fortunate to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year. After being transferred to Odessa in 1958, Buddy worked for Sun Ray Oil, El Paso Products and Browing & Ferris Industries. A master carpenter, avid hunter, sports and music lover, Buddy was a loving father, devoted husband and a true gentleman. Buddy was on the Vestry of Episcopal Church of the Advent in Alice, Texas, a choir member and Sunday school teacher at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Odessa, and the president of Goliad Elementary P.T.C. for several years.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Goode Jr., his sisters Nan Wier, Patsy Caraway, Adele Hauger and Katie Short and his nephew Jonathan Short. He is survived by his wife, Jean’ his sons Jim Dave and Philip Jr. of Dallas and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2003, at 3 p.m. at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church in Odessa, with the Rev. David Mossbarger officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 24, 2003, at 3 p.m. at the Cotulla cemetery in Cotulla, Texas.
The family suggests memorials to The St. Barnabas Carillon Fund at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church in Odessa or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Steve Kelley

ODESSA — In Loving Memory of Steve Kelley.
Steve Wayne Kelley, of Odessa, departed this world on Feb. 6, 2004. He was 46.
Services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel, with the Rev Jeff Cleere officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Steve was born March 7, 1957, in Odessa to R.C. and Lillie Mae Kelley. He was a lifelong Odessa resident. Steve attended Ector Junior/Senior High and graduated from Odessa High. He then went on to become an electrician.
Although his time on this earth was short, Steve thoroughly enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Steve was a loving son, brother and companion who will be missed greatly. He will now be free of pain and suffering and is in a much more peaceful place. His family will be comforted by their many fond memories of Stevie, such as his many unusual pets and various activities as a child.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae, who is now waiting to receive him with open arms.
Steve will be greatly missed by his longtime friend and caregiver, Pat Benthin; his father, R.C. Kelley and wife Doris Proctor Kelley of Gadsden, Ala.; brother, Quinton Kelley and wife Pat of Odessa; sister, Barbara Long and husband Mickey of Odessa; stepbrother Tim Proctor and wife, Debbie, of Odessa; many aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Mark Walker, Brian Long, Michael Long, Troy Kelley, Gary Arp and Charles Duke.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Judith Ann Longino

ODESSA — Our beloved wife, mother and Grammie went to be with the Lord on Feb. 7, 2004.
She was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her throughout her life and her battle with cancer. With her courage, she taught all of those who knew her the meaning of trusting Jesus Christ during any trial.
She was born Judith Ann Miller on Aug. 4, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She grew up in Crosby, Texas, and moved to Odessa in 1961. She graduated from OHS in 1964 and married Jimmy Longino on April 16, 1966.
She was involved in many Bible Studies over the years and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, but most of all, her grandkids. No matter how sick she felt she was always at the grandkids’ events with a smile on her face.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jimmy; her daughter, Julie Salmon and husband Tommy Salmon Jr. and their family, Crystal, Mike, Lauren, Melanie, McCain, Tanner and Kambri, all of Odessa; her son, Jeff Longino and wife Rebecca and their children, Ryan, Logan and Jackson, all of Odessa; her sister, Sandra Kratky of West Columbia, Texas; her brother, Hardy Miller of Deer Park, Texas; her mother, Dorothy Burnett and her mother-in-law, Dean Longino, both of Odessa.
Her father, Hardy Miller; and father-in-law, Web Longino, preceded her in death.
There will be a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
There will be a memorial service held in her honor at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at First Baptist Church with David Johnson officiating.
If preferred, donation to the Allison Cancer Center or Home Hospice may be given in lieu of flowers.

William Ellis Anderson Jr.

MESQUITE — William Ellis Anderson Jr. of Mesquite, Texas, was born April 27, 1921, in Eola, Texas, and passed away March 14, 2004.
Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Ferne; his parents, William Ellis Anderson Sr. and Bessie St. Clair of Grandfalls, Texas; son, Michael Anderson; and two brothers, Howard and Vernon.
He is survived by his daughter, SuZette Anderson; and sons, Steve Anderson, Lynn Lloyd and Robert Lloyd; sisters, Helen Black of Grandfalls and Anita and Billy Love of Odessa; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many granddogs.
He was the founder of Anderson Automotive in Mesquite, Texas, in 1963. He was also a race car driver and beekeeper.
Ellis was a beloved father and family man, he will be missed more than words can convey.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Mesquite with the Rev. Sammy Hargrove officiating.

Dorothy Jewel Cross

ODESSA — Dorothy Jewel Cross, 78, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2004, at the Hospice House.
Dorothy was born Feb. 27, 1926 to Lewis and Johnnie Bewley in Petrolia.
Dorothy was a teacher of God’s word. In all of her efforts of important endeavors she was always going the extra mile. She would find every way that would enhance her sisters’ understanding.
In Nigeria, she taught about 125 little ones on Saturdays. Dorothy taught ladies classes in Africa and also in America.
Dorothy loved her flowers and everything that made her flowers abound. Her yard was a glory to God and she did give him the praise.
In many ways Dorothy was brilliant but she could never believe it. She was content to create for herself and for God. She would love to do that for him in heaven.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years, Joe Cross of Odessa; a brother, Lewis Ray Bewley of Las Vegas, Nev. son, Scotty Cross and wife Ann of Florida; daughter, Melody Wright and husband Lewis of Odessa; grandchildren, Scotty Joe Cross Jr., Aaron Meyers, Angela Altman and Joseph Cross; great-grandchildren, Quentin James Altman and Taylor Marie Meyers.
Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Eisenhower Church Of Christ with Charles Jones and Dennis Dillon officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Marian A. Dickerson

ODESSA — Marian A. Dickerson passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004, in Odessa. She was born July 7, 1924, in Speonk, N.Y., to Carl and Rose Etta Raynor Lucas. She married Stanley Dickerson in 1942 in North Carolina, and they moved to Odessa in 1957, coming from Maryland.
Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Charles; and her husband, Stanley, in 1981.
Marian is survived by two sons, Dickie Dickerson and Bob Dickerson of Odessa; two daughters, Rose McMasters of Odessa and Priscilla McCarty of Carlsbad, N.M.; three sisters, Alberta Watson of North Carolina, Sally Aguirre of California and Betty Jessup of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Ralph Barr of Midland and Jimmy Barr of Austin; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made to Home Hospice House, 903 N. Sam Houston St., Odessa, TX 79761.
Services were entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
