Susanna Lucero
ODESSA — Susanna Lucero, 46, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Oct. 8, 1957, to Manuel H. Sr. and Elvira Lucero in Odessa. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Her father, Manuel H. Lucero Sr. and one sister, Alma Olivas, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Elvira M. Lucero of Odessa; brothers, Tony Lucero of Odessa, Manuel Lucero Jr. of Houston, Petri Lucero and Daniel M. Lucero, both of Odessa; and sister, Elida Duncan of Beaumont.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.

Armittie ‘Mitty’ Howell Threatt
ODESSA — Armittie “Mitty” Howell Threatt, 82, a longtime resident of Odessa, after a life of many wonderful years and a short illness, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, March 7, 2004.
She was born to Victor and Daisy Howell August 2, 1921, in Duran, N.M. She graduated from Pecos High School with a class of 13 graduates. She married
James Threatt her soul mate and fishing buddy on February 9, 1946. She was a very strong, independent, loving, caring wife, mother and Mam-maw. She will be missed by many and loved by all.
She was a teacher and youth sponsor at church, room mother, Scout leader and involved with all the activities with her children, fishing, camping, sewing, quilting, canasta games, and trips to Las Vegas and Ruidoso were a few of the things she enjoyed doing. Quality time spent with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends were at the top of her list of pleasures.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Daisy Howell; brother, Richard Howell; and husband, James Threatt.
She is survived by her son, Charles Travis Threatt and wife, Gayla; daughters, Kaye Patterson and husband, David, Janice Anne Bowman and husband, Rex, Sandy Varnell and husband, Dave, all of Odessa; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Howell of Columbus, Texas; sisters, Vivian Roberts of Odessa and Verdie Howell of Pecos.
The family will meet with friends for visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Cynthia Patterson, Carl Travis Threatt, James Fulfer, Katrina Herrera, Daniel Patterson, Becky Durham, Wendy Bowman, Angela McDonald and Keisha Cranford

Jerry Edward Lyon
KINGSLAND — Jerry Edward Lyon, 79, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away on Feb. 3, 2004, at the V.A. Hospital in Kerrville, Texas. Jerry was born on Aug. 19, 1924, to Emmett Melton Lyon and Anna Martha Hamilton in Dalhart, Texas.
He was a Sergeant in the United States Army from Feb. 24, 1943, to Nov. 2, 1945; he was a disabled veteran from World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and receiving a Purple Heart. He attended the University of Oklahoma studying Gas Measurement, University of Houston for a Management Class, and Avery Growth Institute in Executive Sales. He had worked for Baker Oil Tools for 31 years, advancing from service engineer to the sales department, regional sales manager of its West Texas location. Jerry married
Marjorie Ann Ullrich on April 25, 1967, in Galena Park, Texas. They moved to the Hill Country in 1980 from Odessa. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church of Marble Falls, Texas.
Jerry belonged to many organizations, including active member and past president of the Hoover Valley Fire & EMS, besides holding other offices for many years. Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang; first-place dance contest in June, 1973, in Nashville, Tenn.; first-place world champion BBQ in 1974, in Pecos, Texas, and selected for the Zeus Award in 1974, by Ector County Sheriff’s Posse; Veterans of Foreign War of Kingsland, American Legion in Kingsland, Disabled American Veterans and Lions Club of Kingsland. He was on the Board of the International Oil Show in Odessa, Boss of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang in 1973, Boss of the Year of Odessa Desk & Derrick in 1981.
His survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ann (Ullrich) Lyon of Kingsland; daughters, Judy Kay Muzny and husband, Frank, of Somerville, Texas, Barbara Sue Bryant and friend, David Lee, of Kerrville, Texas, Paula Jean Reid of Arlington; son, Jerry Melton Lyon and wife, Linda, of Midland; three sisters, Mary Ellen Schnelle of Columbus, Ohio, Juanita Kasper of Rochester, N.Y., and Phyliss Stott of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Dewey Lyon of Rusk, Texas, and Mack Lyon of Parker, Colo.; grandchildren, Joe David Digby, Greg Allen Digby, Julie Ann Fenton, Toby William Weir, Jeremy Paul Taylor and wife, Heather, Barbie Nicole Bryant, Bobbi Denise Bryant, Tascha Timmons and husband, Lundy, and David Lyon; great-grandchildren, Janzen Chase Digby, Jordan Carmi Digby, Alaric Joshua Taylor, Macy Haze Weir, Taryn Timmons and Tristan Timmons.
Jerry was preceded in death by both his parents and one daughter, Lynda Ann Roberts, and two grandchildren, Barbie Denise Bryant and Joshua Alaric Taylor, also one brother, Wayne Lyon.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas, on Feb. 14, 2004, at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor David Henry of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

ODESSA — Judy Ann Hambrice, 49, passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa.
She was born Nov. 26, 1954, to Tommy and Bonnie Duniphin in Duncan, Okla. She was employed by Republic Beverage, previously Terk Distribution.
Her mother, Bonnie Duniphin, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving family members, Shawn Hambrice of Odessa; Valontina Leshaw of Odessa; Tommy Duniphin; Tommy ‘Butch’ Duniphin of Odessa; and Jimmy Duniphin of New Braunfels; Valonessa, Chiaira, Emily and Hailey and Anita Johnston.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bogard ‘JR’ Watkins
ODESSA — Bogard ‘JR’ Watkins, 68, departed this world on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004.
Services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Fort Chadbourne cemetery in Coke County.
He was a longtime employee as an Assistant Drilling Superintendent of Parker Drilling Company. JR had suffered from cancer for many years and will now be free of pain and is in a peaceful place.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004.
Survivors include his daughters, Reba Prichard and husband, Ron, of Odessa, Vicki Bundick and husband, David, of Dripping Springs, Beth Snapp and husband, Jimmy, of Odessa, and Pam King and husband, Mark, of Odessa; his mother, Laverne Watkins of San Angelo; sister, Margaret Fulks of Richland Springs; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Corey Prichard, Carl Prichard, Hunter Lewis, Josh Snapp, Chris Snapp, Brandy Taylor, J.W. Bullard and Casey King.

Phyllis Roberts
ODESSA — Our special wife, mom and Grandma went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004.
She was born Phyllis Journagan on March 2, 1940, in Clovis, N.M., and has shared 45 years with her husband, Bob Roberts.
So suddenly has she left him and their children, Brad and Jami Roberts, and Teri and Harold Thomas. She was a loving Grandma to Amy, DeShea, Ryan, Cyle, Heather, Kenneth and Tommy. She was a special sister to Connie and Dan Thomas of Las Cruces, N.M., Inez and Don Creps of San Jose, Calif., her sister-in-law, Pearl Journagan of Clovis, N.M., and brother-in-law, Don Roberts of Sacramento, Calif. She was dearly loved by seven nieces and two nephews, two uncles and numerous cousins.
She loved her church family at Temple Baptist Church. They brought her such encouragement and joy.
Family was so special to her and she was a solid rock to all of us. We are so blessed to have had her loving influence in our lives. She was a source of strength to all who knew her and showed everyone the meaning of trusting Jesus during any trial.
Wherever Bob’s job took them as they worked the pipelines, her joy spilled out to others as she touched lives from all over the United States.
Services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Temple Baptist Church with Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Sybil Morton
ODESSA — Sybil Morton of Odessa, a homemaker, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at residence.
She was born to Bettie Mae and Homer Ramsey in Gary Panola County. She lived in East Texas until her marriage to Robert C. Morton on Oct. 23, 1936. After a brief stay in Arizona, the couple relocated to Portland, Oregon where Mr. Morton was employed at the shipyards during World War II.
They returned to Texas and eventually settled in Odessa in 1947.
Her great love was her family and her compassion for other was shown through her volunteer work. She worked for 23 years in the Auxiliary of Medical Center Hospital and assisted in the efforts of Meals on Wheels and Homebound Ministries.
A lifetime Baptist, she was a member of Belmont Baptist Church for 25 years. All who knew her regarded her as an elegant lady and a faithful Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Carolyn Reeves and Robbie Butler, both of Odessa; brother, R.N. “Buddy” Warren of Henderson; sister, Betty Mims of Longview; grandchildren, Donnie Reeves, Billie Butler, Cathy Butler-Scott and Chris Butler; great-grandchildren, Chad Reeves, Kari Dawn Reeves, Lexi Reeves and Zack Rimer; great-great-grandchildren, Jake Gamble, Brianna Gamble and Ryan Reeves.
Pallbearers are Donnie Reeves, Mark Mims, Chris Butler, Chad Reeves, Jerry Hanks and Justin Scott.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Saffle officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Lota Mitchell
MONAHANS — Lota Mitchell (Mamaw) of Grandfalls, passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, 2003, at Kermit Healthcare Center.
She was born Nov. 22, 1903, in Victoria. Lota was honored with a 100th birthday celebration on Nov. 22, 2003. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in Grandfalls, a member of Eastern Star and a retired Postmaster at Grandfalls.
Lota was preceded in death by her husband Ben, her daughter Kathleen White and a granddaughter. She is survived by a son-in-law, Bill White of Kermit; a son, Gordon Mitchell of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express a very special thanks to the staff of Kermit Healthcare Center for their loving care and attention during her extended stay.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Family Funeral Services Chapel in Monahans, with the Rev. G. A. Magee officiating. Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Grandfalls, in lieu of flowers.
