Patsy Ruth Lovvorn Campbell
ODESSA — Patsy Ruth Lovvorn Campbell, 66, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004, at her residence. She was born December 6, 1937, in Wills Point, Texas. She married
Donald Campbell Feb. 3, 1956, in Lovington, N.M. She worked for the Ector County Independent School District for 17 years as a cafeteria employee. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and Second Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Campbell January 22, 2000; and son, James D. Campbell May, 1989.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Lee Campbell of Odessa, Ronald David Campbell of Knoxville, Tenn., and Bradley Scott Campbell of Minot, N.D.; sister, Doris Young of Fort Stockton; and three grandchildren, Travis Campbell, Cody Campbell and Jenifer Baker; two great-grandchildren, Ryland and Ashley Campbell.
There will be a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy S. Duckett officiating.

Tommy Miller
MIDLAND — Tommy Miller passed away Thursday, April 28, 2004, in Dallas, Texas.
He was born March 3, 1940, in Haskell, Texas, to Felix and Mary Miller. Tommy moved to Odessa in 1951. He married
Sandra Ulbrich on September 2, 1960, in Odessa. Tommy moved to Midland in 1968. He was a member of North A Church of Christ and was active in all church affairs. He was a member of the Westside Lions Club and was a past president, he was a Mason and for over 20 years he had played Santa Claus for many organizations and schools. He had been a softball coach. Tommy had been with TXU Energy for 34 years when he retired. He was a loving father and grandfather and was called PaPaw.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Midland; his son, Gary Miller and his wife, Tanya, of Midland; his daughter, Connie and her husband, Rex Akins, of Alabama; his mother, Mary Miller of Odessa; his brothers, Charlie and his wife, Charlene Miller, of Midland, Archie and his wife, Marsha Miller, of San Diego, Calif., Felix Ray Miller of Deer Park, Texas, Robert and his wife, Dora Miller, of Lemore, Calif., Dale Miller of Odessa, Terry Miller of Odessa; his sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Roland Scott, of Gillette, Wyo., Shirley Ramsay of Lewisville, Texas, Mary and her husband, Tommy Reed, of Odessa; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Kylie and Trey Akins, Billy Davis and Gage Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at North A Church of Christ with Greg Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Doyce Penney, Bill Hollowell, Trey Akins, Billy Davis, Gage Miller and Dennis Pruitt.

Opal Smith
KERMIT — Opal Smith died at Kermit Healthcare in Kermit on Wednesday, April 28, 2004. Born Opal Ophelia Kiser on November 4, 1913, in Fannin County, Texas, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of William Ellis Kiser and Nancy Myrtle Tollison Kiser, and she was the granddaughter of W. E. and Sarah C. Kiser and Horace Greenberry Tollison and Alice Lenora Richardson Tollison.
Mrs. Smith, who spent her early life on a farm, was educated in Fannin and Hunt Counties. She came to Winkler County as the young bride of Walter Everette Ford, now deceased. In 1960, she married
Claude Brown Smith of Wink.
As a young girl, Opal Smith was received into the Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit, a church family she loved and admired.
A retired nurse, Mrs. Smith worked for many years at the Winkler County Memorial Hospital, the Jal, N.M., hospital and for Dr. Peddicord in Kermit.
One of Mrs. Smith’s greatest loves was for nursing. She especially enjoyed working with newborn babies and their mothers. She retired as a nurse in the mid-1970s, but she never lost her zeal for caring for those who needed her.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, C. B. Smith of Kermit; and by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jim and LaRue Moore of Odessa and Lois Coleman of Liberty Hill. She was preceded in death by four children, William Everette Ford, Robert Everette Ford, Dawna Fay Ford and Christine Ford Benton.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two granddaughters and their husbands, Mrs. Emily Hurt of Odessa and Quinn Henderson and her husband, Jim, of Liberty Hill; as well as by three grandsons and their wives, Don and Leesa Benton of Amarillo, Dee and Susan Benton of Midland and Devin and Coral Benton of Amarillo. She is survived by nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Mrs. Smith will be conducted by the Rev. Gene Cannon at the Belvue Baptist Church, Kermit, at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Ruth Tankersley
ODESSA — Ruth Imogene McArron Tankersley died at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at the age of 94. She was born in Long Lane, Mo., July 7, 1909, to John Hobart McArron and Minnie Martin. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1927. She was a resident of Odessa for 60 years.
Ruth was a business woman and member of the Association of Business Women. She loved to travel the world over. Playing bridge and dancing were two of her favorite hobbies.
She married
Walter Cummins in 1932. After his death in 1958, she married
R. E. Tankersley in 1963. Both husbands preceded her in death. Ruth was also preceded in death by her mother, father and two brothers, Ivor McArron and R. I. McArron.
Survivors include a niece, Ann McArron Jones and husband, Jon Rex, of Albany, Texas; a nephew, Russ McArron and wife, Dona, of Dallas, Texas; great-nieces and –nephews, Debora Jones of Mill Valley, Calif., Jonny and Stephen Jones of Austin, Julie Jarvis of Aledo, Texas, Scott McArron and Meredith Rodvold of Dallas, Texas, Lesley McArron of Raleigh, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Esther Tankersley of Odessa.
Ruth resided in Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa until her death. Memorials may be made to Parks in her name at 111 Parks Village Drive, Odessa TX 79765.

Robert Glenn Pierce
MIDLAND — Robert Glenn Pierce, a retired employee of Exxon USA, died April 30, 2004, as a result of complications from leukemia.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Dyer officiating. Private graveside services will precede the memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Hazel; daughter, Vickie Renfro and husband Ed Lee of Monahans; stepchildren, David Sledge and wife Janet of Longview, Dennis Sledge and wife Pamela of Midland and Marla Welch and husband Kevin of Midland. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne Pierce and wife Jean of Dallas; and grandchildren, Ashleigh Scott, Russell Scott and Matt Sledge of Midland, Kayse Renfro of Lubbock, Zack Sledge of Dallas and Renae Jones and Brandon Sledge of Longview.

Donna Ann Smith
ODESSA — Donna Ann Smith went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2004.
Donna was born on Oct. 26, 1930, in Gruver, Texas, to Eva and George Clark. She married
the love of her life, Carlos Smith, the day after she graduated from high school in Perryton, Texas. Donna lived in Perryton until she became ill and needed the assistance of her daughter. She moved to Odessa in 1998.
Donna was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in Perryton. She was a Sunday school teacher and loved to study and teach prophecy. When she moved to Odessa she became a member of Chapel Hill Baptist.
Donna is remembered for her loving care of her husband after he was stricken with polio and became wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life. Donna would be out early every morning pushing Carlos to his job, even in the icy conditions of the harsh Panhandle weather. Carlos preceded her in death in 1980.
Donna was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement in 1993.
Donna is survived by one son, Tex Smith of Amarillo; two daughters, Sherry Myers and husband Mike of Odessa and Carolyn McCluskey and husband Taylor of Wheeling, W.Va.; brother, George Clark of Denver, Colo.; sister, Molly Johnson of Perryton, Texas; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on at 2 p.m. Monday, May 3 in the Frank W. Wilson Chapel. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at the Ochitree County cemetery in Perryton.

Marie Brewer
ODESSA — Services for Marie Brewer, 87, of Odessa will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brewer died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Galena, Kan. She married
Sanford Brewer in 1928 in Bristow, Okla. He died in May 1996.
Mrs. Brewer was a homemaker and had served as church pianist and church treasurer at the Goldsmith Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spectator sports.
Survivors include her daughters, Kay Rhodes and husband, Jack, of Odessa, and Betty Kindle of Dallas and Sandra Martin and husband, Robert, of Round Rock; son, Clark Brewer of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Andres ‘Andy’ Garcia Sr.
ODESSA — Andres “Andy” Garcia Sr., 78, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Regency Hospital in Odessa. He was born on February 4, 1926, in Nixon, Texas, to Blas and Maria Garcia.
He was retired from the ECISD in the maintenance department and was a Christian Catholic. He married
Teresa Hernandez in 1966, in Midland, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Garcia of Odessa; sons, Ricardo Garcia of Odessa, Andy Garcia Jr. of San Antonio, Eduardo “Eddie” Olgin of Midland; daughters, Dalhia Barenson of Santa Monica, Calif., Delia Tagle and husband, Ramiro, of Alice, Texas, Belinda Rey and husband, Alfonso, of Austin; brother, Manuel Garcia of Abilene; and sister, Cristela Ornelas of Colorado City; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and lots of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Livorio, Moises and Pedro Garcia; sister, Elisa Arispe.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Andy Garcia Jr., Ramiro Tagle, Alfonso Rey, Eric Rey, Aaron Stephen Tagle, Ryan Ramiro Tagle.

Vernon D. McCall
ALPINE — Vernon D. McCall of Conroe, Texas, passed away May 9, 2004. Vernon was born is San Marcos, Texas, and grew up in Alpine. He lived in Odessa until 2001, when he moved to Conroe, Texas.
Vernon served in the Pacific as a Marine during WWII. He graduated from Texas Tech and was a Civil Engineer for Texas Department of Public Transportation until he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ima Joe Hallford McCall; five children, Francis Earlene King of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Ann Colson of Montgomery, Texas, Bonnie Coleen Alverson of Sugarland Texas, Vernon Dee McCall of Mesa, Ariz., and William Lee McCall of Shallowater, Texas; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dean Stewart of Pine Top, Ariz.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. with Carl Hamilton and Marcus Bobb officiating. Interment will be May 15, 2004, at Elmgrove cemetery in Alpine, Texas.
