ODESSA — Sandy Denise Nance, age 37, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, in Cleburne, Texas.
She was born July 12, 1966, to Jackie and Barbara Nance in Texarkana, Ark. She worked for Nurses Unlimited as a provider.
Her son, Roger Clinton Rogers, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, T.J. Rogers, Brian Wheeler and Dusty Guyett, all of Odessa; parents, Barbara Nance and Jerry Oden and father, Jackie Nance, all of Odessa; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Chandler of Odessa and Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Cox of Graham, Texas; fiance, Marty Guyett of Odessa; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Erron Mercer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Brian Wheeler, T. J. Roger, Marty Guyett, Chris Guyett, Dusty Guyett and Richard Wheeler.

Jarrell ‘Jerry’ D. Ormand
DALLAS — Jarrell “Jerry” D. Ormand passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, in Dallas, Texas.
He was born on May 30, 1919, in Electra, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dottie Ormand; and his daughter, Susan Shughart.
Prior to moving to Texas in the late 1990s, Mr. Ormand and his family had lived for many years in Los Angeles, Calif., and Odessa, Texas. Mr. Ormand attended both Paris Junior College and Texas Christian University, playing football at both schools. He was a proud member of the Third Army, 6th Armored Division having served during World War II under General George Patton; he was awarded the Purple Heart during such war. For many years he was Chairman of the Board and CEO of Ormand Industries Inc., a corporation then traded on the American Stock Exchange.
Mr. Ormand is survived by his three sons, Jimmy and Debbie Ormand of Dallas, Ron and Nancy Ormand of Houston and Jerry and Terry Ormand of Dallas; and by many wonderful grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Sparkman-Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road in Dallas, Texas. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

William Kenneth ‘Bill’ Perryman
CRANE — William Kenneth “Bill” Perryman, 83, of McCamey, died Friday, April 23, 2004, in Midland Memorial Hospital’s Hospice unit.
He was born May 23, 1920, in Cisco, Texas, to Benjamin and Lola Ben Perryman.
At the age of 13, he began his working life as a cowboy, which fueled his lifelong love of horses. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army at 19, he moved to West Texas and settled in Grandfalls in Ward County. There he began his oilfield career with British-American Oil Company. In 1940, he married
Ione Brown. Together they had three sons, Walt, Joe, and Wes. After Ione’s death in 1953, he married
Marie Colvin and had one son, Steve. Bill and Marie moved to McCamey in 1970 and adopted a daughter, Mitzi, in 1976. Bill retired as an oilfield pumper in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Perryman, Minnie Woodward and Ethel Beason of Birmingham, Ala., Melba Thornton of Midland, Texas, and Opal Lynn Holifield of McCamey, Texas; his brother, Jack Perryman; and wives, Ione Perryman and Marie Perryman.
Survivors include his four sons, Walt Perryman of Fredericksburg, Texas, Joe Perryman of Crane, Texas, Wes Perryman of Red Oak, Texas, and Steve Perryman of Aztec, N.M.; his daughter, Mitzi Haston of Midland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at the Tamarisk cemetery in Grandfalls, Texas, with the Rev. Jodie Windbigler officiating.

Anthony Piervincenti
ODESSA — Anthony Piervincenti, 21, of Odessa, Texas, went to be with our Father in Heaven on April 22, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Belda Edwards.
Anthony is survived by his father, Anthony Piervincenti; his mother, Tammy Chelf and husband Gerald; his sister, Ashley, and her son, Dylan; and his brother, Andrew. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many supportive and heart felt friends.
Anthony was a good-hearted young man with a heart-melting smile that he was known for.
We cannot express how much we will miss Anthony. Our heavenly father will enjoy his company as we have.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 27, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Marcus Zuniga. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Stella J. Slaughter
ODESSA — Stella J. Slaughter, 83, of Odessa, a homemaker, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2004, at her residence.
She was born in Oklahoma to John Thomas and Vicy Lou Willingham.
She was a loving mother and grandma.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Willingham and Vicy Lou Willingham; husband, A.D. Slaughter; sons, Tommy Slaughter and Donnie Moorehead; grandson, Joey Loper; and great-grandson, Christopher Loper.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Loper and Cynthia Bentley, both of Odessa; son, Mike Slaughter of Colorado; sister, Vonceil Newton of Big Spring; and a brother, John Willingham of Victoria, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Grace ‘Chita’ Hernandez Sosa
ODESSA — Surrounded by her loving husband and family, Grace “Chita” Hernandez Sosa, 69, of Odessa, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 23, 2004. She passed away at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born April 16, 1935, in Big Spring, Texas, to Jose and Petra R. Hernandez. On Nov. 20, 1950, here in Odessa, she united in marriage to Manuel P. Sosa. Mrs. Sosa was a Christian Catholic and was co-founder and owner of Sosas’ Country Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jose Hernandez Jr.; and two sisters, Manuela Nunez and Magdalena Hernandez.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel P. Sosa of Odessa; two sons, Manuel Sosa Jr. and wife Alicia and Ricky Sosa and wife Rachel of Odessa; four daughters, Rosie Garcia, Olivia Muro and husband Jesus, Celia “Bobbie” Huerta and Deborah “Debi” Sosa Llanez and husband Jesse, all from Odessa; four brothers, Esquievel Hernandez of Big Spring, Genaro Hernandez of Odessa, Theodore “Chololo” Hernandez of Big Spring and Isidero Hernandez of Albuquerque N.M.; four sisters, Frances “Kika” Parras of Big Spring, Julia Cruz of Fort Worth, Lorenza “Leche” Paradez of Greely, Colo., Josefina “Pina” Hernandez of Plainview, Texas; grandchildren, Diane Calderon, Roy Calderon, Mona Rico, Sonya “Bebi” Valencia, Yvonne Tijerina, Anthony Galindo, Monica Solko, Christopher “Chris” Galindo, Joe Sosa, Jennifer Sosa, Sandra Huerta, Natalie Huerta, Tamera Rodriguez, Ricky Sosa Jr., Tiffani Sosa and Avonna Sosa; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Roy Calderon, Anthony Galindo, Chris Galindo, Joe Sosa, Rick Sosa Jr. and Victor Rodriguez.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday April 26, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday April 27, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating interment will follow at Rosehill cemetery.

C.J. Whatley
ODESSA — C.J. Whatley, 70, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at his residence.
He was born May 1, 1933, in Nida, Okla. He married
Merline Lewis on Sept. 17, 1951, in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a retired insurance salesman for Western Southern Life Insurance Co.
C.J. was a very loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Merline of Odessa; daughters, Gayla Threatt and husband Charles of Odessa, and Glenna Jones and husband Ricky of Odessa; mother, Lois Jones of Albuquerque, N.M.; half brother, Billy Whatley of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating.

Edward Francis Demler
ODESSA — Edward Francis Demler, 88, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Monday, April 26, 2004, at the Hospice House. He was born December 31, 1915, in Hilltop, Kan.
He married
Melba Leone Johnson Nov. 2, 1946, in Lovington, N.M. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, V.F.W. post #4372 and the American Legion. He had worked for several fishing tool company’s and retired December 31, 1984 from Graco Fishing Tool Co. in Utah. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lydia Demler, and sister, Donna Carol Demler.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Leone Demler of Odessa; daughters, Dixie Lynn Cody and husband, Dr. Jim, of Franklinton, La., Jill Anne Demler of Austin and Sherri Stewart of San Antonio; sister, Loretta Hoobler of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, Jamie Lynne Cody, Elizabeth Anne Stewart, Jackson Edward Stewart and Mary Elise Stewart.
