Hunter Warren Midkiff
MIDLAND — Hunter W. Midkiff died in the Midland Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit on Tuesday, June 8, 2004.
Hunter was born August 16, 1914, in Midland County, Texas, and remained a lifetime resident of Midland. He was the last surviving child of 12 children born to T.O. and Lillie Midkiff, pioneer ranching family of Midland County. Hunter served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Midland VFW and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hunter married Melba C. Midkiff on August 22, 1937, and she preceded him in death in August 1998.
Hunter is survived by his loving daughter, Lianne Midkiff Giles of Midland; sons, Samuel Gerald “Jerry” Midkiff of Goldthwaite and James “Jimmy” R. Midkiff and wife, Pat, of Plano; three grandchildren, Brandon Hunter Giles of Midland, James Philip Midkiff and wife, Gretchen, of Plano and Guy Warren Midkiff and wife, Corinne, of New York City; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Friday, June 11, 2004, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4805 Gateway Street with Bishop Doyle Snow officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas. (432) 683-5555.
Pallbearers will be John Midkiff, Bob Midkiff, Buddy McDonald, Lesley King, Lige Midkiff, Tom Midkiff and Frank Midkiff.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702.

Charlotte Hubbs
ODESSA — Charlotte L. Hubbs, 86, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Burkburnett. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
SURVIVORS: Son, Jon Hubbs of Odessa; sister, Betty Alice Couch of Cleburne; and two grandchildren.

Joey Muller
COLORADO CITY — Joey Kyle Muller, 41, of Colorado City and formerly of Abilene, died Saturday, May 1, 2004.
Services were Monday at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Burial was at Westbrook cemetery. Arrangements were by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
He was born in Littlefield. He was served in the Army and was a member of First Christian Church.
SURVIVORS: Mother and stepfather, Lila and Jim Birmingham of Colorado City; sister, Patti Muller of Round Rock; brother, Mark Muller of Littlefield; half sister, Joy Muller of Belton; and stepsisters, Vicki Hubbard and Linda Turnbull, both of Odessa.

Jo Ann Shields
ABERNATHY ¾ Jo Ann Brown Shields, 72, of Andrews, a retired teacher, died
Saturday, May 1, 2004, in Andrews.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Abernathy cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire officiating. Arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.
She was born in Abernathy.
SURVIVORS: Sister, Mildred Becker of Lubbock.

Susan Sutton
ODESSA — Susan Darleen Sutton, 61, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill cemetery with Sam Pressley officiating. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in Concord, N.C. She was Christian.
SURVIVORS: Husband, George Woolis of Odessa; son, Samuel Gene Starnes of Iowa; daughter, Sheila Darleen Barnes of Augusta, Kan.; brothers, Edward Sutton, Charles Sutton, Darin Sutton and Ricky Sutton, all of Concord, N.C.; sisters, Deloris Reeves of Englewood, Fla., Brenda Linker of Concord, N.C., Becky McDormick of Houston; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Manuela Alvarez
PECOS - Manuela H. Alvarez, 85, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be at Balmorhea cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Balmorhea. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Beto 'Eddie' Alvarez of Fort Davis, Rodolfo Alvarez of Odessa and Henry Alvarez of El Paso; daughters, Eloisa Cortez of Pecos, Patricia Ornelas of Laredo, and Faya Moran and Magdalena Valencia, both of Odessa; sister, Delia Lozano of Odessa; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Billy Campbell
ODESSA - Billy Campbell, 64, of Odessa, a real estate broker, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Haskell. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Joyce Laminack, and stepfather, Pete Laminack, of Colorado City; daughters, Debra Jones, Sintery Thickstun, and Trudy Anderson, all of San Marcos; brother, Wendell Campbell of Odessa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Eddie Holladay
ODESSA - Eddie Nathan Holladay Sr., 64, of Odessa, a retired oilfield worker and volunteer firefighter, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Fort Stockton.
SURVIVORS: Son, Eddie Holladay Jr. of Killeen; daughters, Renee’ Harris of Midland and Ginger Harper Parkey of Odessa; brothers, Thomas Holladay of Madisonville and Wayne Derrick of Artesia, N.M.; sisters, Mary Carol Lee of Denison, Gail Brayton of Duncanville and Sue Valenzuela of Andrews; and eight grandchildren.

Elizabeth Jackson
FORT STOCKTON - Elizabeth 'Doc' Jackson, 74, of Fort Stockton, a retired elementary school teacher, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, in Midland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest Wall officiating. Burial will be at East Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Crystal City. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, A.D. Jackson of Fort Stockton; daughters, Cindy Lee Jackson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Sandy McFarland of Lubbock; sister, Jimmie Lee Anderson of Asherton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

ODESSA - Julian C. Mata, 73, of Odessa, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Iglesia Apostolica Assemblia De Fe En Cristo Jesus with the Rev. Angel Alvarado officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Arturo Mata, Eduardo Mata, Luis Mata and Fermin Mata, all of Odessa, and Carlos Mata of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico; daughter, Manuela Navarrete of Roswell, N.M.; brother, Ignacio Mata of Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

SEMINOLE - Jessie Bell Sims, 76, of Seminole, a homemaker, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Seminole.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie Haven cemetery in Hobbs, N.M., with the Rev. Randy Bush officiating. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
She was born in Holdenville, Okla. She was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Nancy Croan of Seminole and Janet Kern of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; sister, Opal Yarbrough of Meskogee, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
