FORT STOCKTON -- Sofia S. Acosta, 99, of Fort Stockton, a retired cook and maid at the Spring Hurst Motel, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Jim Chaumont officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. She was a Catholic.
Survivors:: Daughters, Librada Pina and Erudina Garcia, both of Fort Stockton; 23 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, 95, great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.

ANDREWS -- Stella Deaver, 89, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at Permian General Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at McNett Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Cobb officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m Saturday at Squaw Creek cemetery in Rainbow with the Rev. Don Caldwell officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Alleene, Ark., and moved to Andrews in 1987 from Glen Rose. She was a Baptist.
Survivors:: Daughter, Martha Hilton of Dallas; sons, Gerry Deaver of Andrews, Randy Deaver of Victoria; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Genovevo Gonzales
SEAGRAVES -- Genovevo Gonzales, 77, of Seagraves died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at Brownfield Regional Medical Center following an illness.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Spanish Assembly of God with the Revs. Orvidio Martinez and Santos Gomez officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.
He was born in San Ignacio, and had been a resident of Gaines County since 1957 after moving from Laredo. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Spanish Assembly of God.
Survivors:: Wife, Remedios Gonzales of Seagraves; sons, Jose Gonzales and Genovevo Gonzales Jr., both of Seagraves, Willy Gonzales of Sanger, Jorge Gonzales of Big Spring; daughters, Juanita hernandez of Brownfield, Maria Moreno, Jesusita Rodriguez, Estefana Olivo, Raquel Gonzales and Odelia Gonzales, all of Seagraves; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was born in White River, Mo., and was a resident of Kermit for 45 years. She was a Baptist.

ABILENE -- Lowell Fields Petitfills, 76, of Abilene, a retired security guard, died Wednesday, April 6, 1998, in an Abilene hospital.

He was born in Lakeview and was a 24-year resident of Odessa. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard.

She was born in Henderson County and was a lifelong resident of Frankston. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

MIDLAND -- Eva Hayes Godfrey, 89, of Midland, retired owner of Lano Beauty and Barber Shop in Midland, died Monday, May 4, 1998, in an Odessa hospital.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at First Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. David Miracle officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home.
She was born in Vera, and moved to Odessa four years ago. She was a Methodist.
Survivors: Daughters, Judean Bennett and Nancy Stark, both of Odessa; step-daughter, Raynell Whitaker of Coleman; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was born in Muzquiz, Mexico. He was a Catholic.
Survivors: Wife, Margarita Avendono Guerrero of Fort Stockton; son, Victor Leonardo Guerrero of Fort Stockton; daughters, Mariza Guerrero Sanchez of Kermit, Mayte Guerrero Casas of Odessa; and three grandchildren.

ODESSA -- Marion Ellis Riggs, 72, of Odessa, a retired credit manager for JoAnn Shop, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Michael A. Jasper officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in Warrington, England, and moved to Odessa in 1951.
