MESQUITE — Melba Evelyn Perkins, 88, of Mesquite, a homemaker, died Friday, June 11, 2004, in Mesquite.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Care Center Church of Christ in Mesquite. Burial will be Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements by Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wells Point.
She was born in Marshall and lived in Odessa for more than 40 years. She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Diane Hiett of Dallas, and Kitty Thrift of Garland; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Scholl
MIDLAND — Mary Elizabeth Scholl, 84, of Midland, a homemaker, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, in Midland.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Al Workman officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Ethel, Miss. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: Sister, Marjie Baker of Germantown, Tenn; niece, Rita Evans of Odessa.

Auden Valdez
KERMIT — Auden Valdez, 26, an employee of Pool Well Service, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, in Kermit.
Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Jospeh’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rudy Lacerno officiating. Burial will be in Kermit cemetery. Arrangements by Family Funeral Service Parlor.
He was born in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Imelda Valdez of Kermit; daughters, Krystina Valdez, Adamaris Yolanda Valdez and Karyna Valdez, all of Kermit; brothers, Raul Valdez, Jaime Valdez, Uber Valdez and Geovanni Valdez, all of Kermit, and Manuel Valdez of Las Cruces, N.M.; sisters, Corina Enriquez of Las Cruces, N.M., Deida Ramos, Catalina Polanco and Sylvia Olivas, all of Kermit; parents, Francisco and Hortencia Valdez of Kermit; and grandparent, Petra Valdez of Presido.

Staci Wheeless
PECOS — Staci Lynn Wheeless, 38, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at First Christian Church with L.H. Woodard officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Bailey and Patsy Wheeless of Pecos; and sister, Tobi Stewart of Fredericksberg.

Temple hospital.

ODESSA — Edwin “Bubba” Lee Graves, 48, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Hospice House.

ODESSA — Nelda Ball Scott, 56, of Odessa, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at her residence.

Maria Leyva
ALPINE — Maria G. Leyva, 78, of Alpine, a homemaker, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Holy Angels cemetery. Arrangements are by Geeslin Funeral Home.
She was born in Terlingua. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Alredo Leyva Sr. of Alpine; daughters, Alicia Castillo, Teresa Reed and Rosie Leyva, all of Sacramento, Calif., Sylvia Leyva of Alpine and Zulema Sledge of San Antonio; sons, Alredo Leyva Jr. of Grand Falls, Arturo Leyva of Alpine and G. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. today at the
funeral home. Burial will be
at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
He was born in Toyah and had been a resident of Big Spring since 1998. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was Methodist.
SURVIVORS:Wife, Carmen Manriquez of Big Spring; stepson, David Manriquez of Big Spring; and stepdaughter, Marion Russo of Los Angeles.

P.A. Mitcham Jr.
ODESSA — P.A. Mitcham Jr., 64, of Odessa, a truck driver, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors’ Chapel with Glen Clark officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel cemetery in Anson. Arrangements are by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

CRANE — Christine Tarpley, 83, of Crane, a homemaker, died Friday, June 11, 2004, in the McCamey Convalescent Center.

She was born in Bonham. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
