She was born in Presidio. She was Catholic.

William Piper
ODESSA — William Odell Piper, 88, a worker in the oil industry, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Hospice House.

He was born in Kaufman County, and had been an area resident since 1936. He served in the 62nd Armored Field Artillery during WWII.

ODESSA — James L. “Jim” Uhlhorn, 69, a self-employed truck mechanic, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Terry Meyer and Don Loudenback officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He served in the National Guard.

KATY — Tomlee Mallard Ulmer, 93, a retired first-grade teacher, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, in Katy.

Wanda Anderson
ODESSA — Wanda Anderson, 74, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Alliance Hospital.
She was born December 7, 1929 in Petersburg, TX.
She graduated from Tahoka High School. She was the business manager for Dr. Billy P. Kincaid, M.D. in Lubbock for over 20 years. She is a member of Eastern Star, Lubbock Chapter No. 76 Yellowhouse and also a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was past president of American Association of Medical Assistants in Lubbock. Past president of Business and Professional Women’s Association. Past Worthy Matron of Lubbock Chapter No. 76.
She is survived by her husband Edgar Anderson, of Odessa; son, Paul Anderson and wife Laura of Hemet, CA.; daughter, Pam Baucum and husband David of Abilene; six grandchildren, Kerry, Candace, Emily, Amy, Raelyn, Brian; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hayden, and Peyton.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Bauernfeind officiating. Interment will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Lubbock City cemetery in Lubbock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels or the Texas Masonic Retirement Center in Arlington, TX.

Gale W. Pugh
MIDLAND — Gale W. Pugh, of Midland, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 2, 2004.
He was born June 12, 1924 to Lee and Myrtle Pugh in Coahoma, Texas and was the sixth child in a family of eight children. Gale proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. On June 15, 1945, he married
the love of his life, Christine Thomas in Morton, Texas.
Gale farmed and ranched in Midland County since 1948 where he was one of the early pioneers in the cotton industry. He gave meaning to the word progressive, as he was a very innovative entrepreneur. He was a faithful member and deacon at Terminal Baptist Church. He served as a past president of the Midland Farmers Union. Gale dearly loved his family, enjoyed hunting, dominoes, politics, visiting and fishing at his place at Oak Creek Lake. He also loved to grow things and was an avid reader. He had recently moved to Eldorado, Texas, to raise his cows and sheep.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Christine Thomas Pugh, his parents, sisters, Anita Smith and Leenez Reid, and sister-in-law, Ruby Holladay.
Gale is survived by his daughters, Kathy Crowley and husband, Robert “Steve,” of Midland, TX; Linda Chancellor and husband, Jim, of Eldorado, TX; five grandchildren, Susan Crowley Scharf of Monahans, TX; Jeff Chancellor of Eldorado, TX; John Chancellor and wife, Laura, of Christoval, TX; Julie Chancellor Smithwick and husband, Kyle, of Miles, TX; Brian Crowley of Midland, TX; four great-grandchildren, Byron and Jackson Scharf of Monahans, TX; Jaime Chancellor of Eldorado, TX; Regan Smithwick of Miles, TX; sisters, Irene Smith of Lubbock, TX; Alma McGinty of Sunnyvale, CA; Shirley Thrasher of La Grange, TX; brothers, Ralph Pugh and wife, Ruby, of Midland, TX; Ray Pugh and wife, Patsy, of Fairborn, OH; brothers-in-law, Bud Thomas and wife, Bernice, of Lubbock, TX; Pete Thomas and wife, Rita, of Morton, TX; Virgil Thomas and wife, Wanda, of Irving, TX; Jerry Thomas and wife, Virgie, of Lovington, NM; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Piland of Great Bend, KS; Dolly Richmon and husband, L.W., of Brownwood, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Thursday, August 5, 2004, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, at the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Midland with Reverend Bob Hopkins officiating with the Rev. Michael R. Chancellor assisting.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.

Christine F. Zentz
ODESSA — Christine F. Zentz, 77, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Avalon Nursing Home.
She was born July 2, 1927, in Macon, Georgia. She loved being around people. No matter what, she always had the time to say hi with a smile. Maybe that’s why she was a phone solicitor for many years. She will be remembered for her love of her two sons David Paul and Bill Spisak.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gladys and Walter Williams, son David Paul Spisak, and her loving husband Arthur Zentz.
She is survived by her son, Bill Spisak and wife Carlene of Odessa; stepdaughters, Sue and Kathy; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, 20004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. There will be no funeral services.
I would like to thank all the people at Avalon Nursing Home and Hospice, for taking such good care of my mom for the last 8 years, and for all her good friends who got to know her and her joy for life.
Peace be with you Ma. You are in a better place now in Heaven. No more pain. Bye mama, I love you.
