Tomlee Mallard Ulmer
NEW BRAUNFELS — Tomlee Mallard Ulmer, 93, passed away July 3 in Katy, Texas.
A veteran first-grade teacher, she retired from Ector County ISD in Odessa in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Wilbur William “Bill” Ulmer. Survivors include son, John William “Bill”; daughter-in-law, Pat; and grandchildren, Patti and Steven of Katy.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Anurada Kantamani, the staff of Christus St. Catherine Hospital and VITAS Healthcare.

Nieves Balerio
STANTON — Nieves Balerio, 79, of Midland, formerly of Odessa and Stanton, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Evergreen cemetery Chapel in Stanton with the Rev. Leandro Gonzales, retired Baptist minister, officiating.
He was born August 5, 1924, in Robstown, Texas, and married
Francisca Garcia January 26, 1949, in Stanton. Mr. Balerio had lived in Midland since 1986. He had farmed in the Lenorah and Tarzan communities before moving to Odessa and Midland. He loved to go fishing. He was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Odessa. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Francisca Balerio of Midland; three sons, Augustine Balerio of Midland, Freddy Balerio of Houston and Alejandro Balerio of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Lisa Guzman of Odessa; three sisters, Sofia Silva of Odessa and Frances Garcia and Olga Gonzales, both of Rotan; six granddaughters, Veronica Vega of Odessa, Maria Frances Balerio of Midland, Venisha Baca of Odessa, Leslie Balerio of Corpus Christi, Edna Balerio of Midland and Lori Balerio of Corpus Christi; five great-grandchildren, Rene and Cassandra Vega and Isaac, Israel, and Ivan Baca, all of Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Elenor K. Grier Finch
ODESSA — Elenor K. Grier Finch, 90, of Odessa, passed away June 18, 2004. She was born August 29, 1913 in Victoria, Texas, to Robert and Rosie Koehl (Reimann). She married
Ben Grier in 1936. She moved to Odessa in 1942. She owned and operated Odessa Liquor Store and Odessa Fish Market on South Grant until 1960. She was a nurse at Odessa Medical Center for 30 years, working in Intensive Care and Oncology. She was a dedicated and caring nurse and was loved by all whose lives she touched. She was a member of St. Mary’s Alter Society and of Paul G. Mahoney Post of the VFW. She was an anchor to so many, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ben Grier; sister, Ruby Dischinger and Bernice Griffen; and brother, Sonny Koehl.
She is survived by her husband, Louis W. Finch; daughter, Ileene Archer and her husband, Bill, and grandson, Riley T. Archer, of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Gladys Miori and brother, Alton Keohl, both of Victoria. Her stepchildren, Carol Beth Moeller and Helen Sue Motlock, both of Austin, Toni Russell of Dallas, Ellen Guillen of Florida, Barbara Robles of Colorado, Robert Finch of Missouri and Mardi Hinesly of Lubbock; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Lillian Adams Kiser
JUNCTION — Myrtle Lillian Adams Kiser, a beloved mother, passed away at her home June 26, 2004, at the age of 98, surrounded by her children. She was an inspiration to her family and friends because of her love, guidance and courage she gave to us all. Local arrangements are by Frank Wilson Directors. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Gentry Fife Funeral Home in Junction with the Rev. Denny Jackson of Mason officiating.
Myrtle was born June 17, 1906, in London, Texas, to Dave and Emma Adams. She was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband George Ross Kiser; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adams; four brothers; and two sisters. Myrtle Adams was married
to George Ross Kiser on February 17, 1924, in Junction, Texas, where they then raised their children and then moved to Odessa in 1975 to be near their children.
Her legacy lives on in her children, Mac D. Kiser of Brownwood, Texas, Marvin Kiser and B.J. Kiser, both of San Angelo, J.D. Kiser, Lloyd Kiser and Melvin Kiser, all of Odessa, Lola Pounders of Gallatin, Tenn., Eula Tomlison of Hamlin, Texas, Stella Leamons of Austin, Texas, and Dorothy Baker and Nell Jones, both of Odessa, Texas; three brothers, Milton Adams of Junction, Texas, Willard Adams of Comanche, Texas, and Johnny Adams of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight nieces, 11 nephews, 31 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
George Lee Lambert
MIDLAND — George Lee Lambert, 65, of Odessa, died on Friday, June 25, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland. The family received friends Monday, June 28, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
George was born on October 19, 1938, in Baird, Texas to George R. Lambert and Billye “Griggs” Lambert.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Lambert of Odessa; two sons, William Gregg Lambert and his wife, Kendra, of Arlington and Bryan Rusk Lambert and his wife, Patricia, of Sugarland; two daughters, Linda Ruth Gully and husband Kenny of Eola and Diane Lee Ham and husband Josh of Midland; nine grandchildren; a sister, Sue Henry and husband Marvin of Abilene; and a brother, John Lambert and wife Sue of Gardendale; a brother-in-law, Larry Neece and wife Shirley of Fayettville, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lester Joe ‘Little Joe’ Norwood
ODESSA — Lester Joe “Little Joe” Norwood a 57-year resident of Odessa, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2004, at the age of 80 years in Sherman, Texas, while attending a family reunion.
Little Joe was born in Morris, Okla., September 28, 1923. He was born to Columbus Asbury and Lola Jane Norwood of Morris, Okla. He was the tenth child of a family of thirteen children.
Little Joe was preceded in death by his father, mother and 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 54 1/2 years, Nelta Sue Norwood; his two daughters, Judith Ann Millstid of Fort Worth, Donna Sue Brannon of Lewisville, Texas; and son, Ricky Joe Norwood of Stockton, Calif. Brothers, Paul Norwood of Chico, Calif., and Sherman Norwood of Odessa.
Little Joe had a large patronage of customers that he considered his lifelong friends. He worked for several food chains in Odessa before starting his own, business, “Little Joe & Son Produce Kings.” He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. He loved to sing gospel music.
The family will receive friends at Hubbard-Kelly funeral Home between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Services will be held at the First United Pentecostal Church located at 1700 N. Texas. Services will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004.
Interment to be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Charles E. Bishop I
JUNCTION — Charles, our loving Father and Grandfather, left this world to join his Savior, Thursday, July 15, 2004. Charles was born to Earnst and Loene March 18, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas. Charles worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years and retired to his family ranch in Junction, Texas, in 1985, which everyone knows ranching isn’t really retirement.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, Zaney, James, Lloyd and Ray; and sisters, Geneva and Alley. He is survived by wife, Barbara; brother, Tite; two sons, Charles and his wife, Susie, and Mike; grandsons, Chance and Thomas; and granddaughters, Amanda and Jennifer.
Services will be held at the family ranch in Junction, Saturday, July 17, 2004, at 10 a.m.
Emmett C. Worley
ODESSA — The Lord welcomed Emmett C. Worley into His loving arms on July 15, 2004. Emmett, 87, a resident of Odessa since 1939, died at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 27, 1917, in Childress, Texas. He graduated from Hobbs, N.M. High School. He married
Grace Thompson July 17, 1937 in Hobbs. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Emmett was the tower of his family. He was a big man in many ways. He loved life and loved family. His bride of 67 years, Grace Thompson Worley is a devoted wife and walked by his side through life’s journey, with the ever-present guidance of their Lord. He had a wonderful optimistic outlook on life. There was never a person he met that he would not offer help to or a second chance. Emmett traveled the United States as an entrepreneur. After pipelining in the U.S. and Canada, they returned to Odessa in 1971 where he and his son started a fabrication business. After retiring to Florida for 5 years, they returned to Odessa. His three children loved and adored him. He instilled in them the love of life and family. Our beloved Pappaw saw to it that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren got not only an academic education but educated us all in character and values in precious time spent with him. He made sure he took his grandkids to many of his favorite places around the US to share his family roots. We could never list all the accomplishments that this man has made over his lifetime. His greatest accomplishment of all was his gift of love.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Worley of Odessa; son, Ron Worley and wife, Andrea, of Odessa; daughters, Lanita Hammock and husband, Douglas, of Midland and Rita Hossle of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Martha Worley of Odessa; sister, Novalene Addison of Lamesa; grandchildren, Dana Hammock Gring and husband, Mark, of Lubbock, Lisa Worley Blackburn and husband, Brad, of Cummings, Ga., Dawn Tatsch and husband, Joe of Tioga, Teresa Worley Lucero of Odessa, Scott Worley and wife, Sissy, of Tyler, Heather Hammock Martinez and husband, Danny, of Keller, Ashley Hossle Duran and husband, Marcelo, of Houston, Wesley Cravens and wife, Lynn, of Odessa and Denise David and husband, Kevin, of Odessa; 24 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Bauernfeind officiating. Interment will follow at Ector County cemetery.

Mary ‘Lenny’ Linihan Barry
TULSA, Okla. — Mary “Lenny” Linihan Barry passed away July 22, 2004, at Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
She was born July 3, 1919, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a beloved wife, mother and friend, who was preceded in death by her loving husband, John F. Barry; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Linihan; sister, Charlotte Ping; and brothers, Harold Linihan, Bill Linihan and Robert Linihan. Lenny was loved and will be missed by her family: a brother, Myrle Linihan and his wife, Thelma, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sister, Mary Baker of Houston, Texas; daughters, Sharon Elswick of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda Clark and husband, Lyman, of Branson, Missouri, and Diana Johnson along with her husband, Donnie, of Odessa, Texas. She was also survived by the loves of her life, thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Barry was a longtime resident of Odessa, Texas. Her children and grandchildren were her most enjoyable pastime along with her love of golf as a member of the Odessa Country Club and past president of the Women’s West Texas Golf Association. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church before her move to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1999.
Services are entrusted to Butler Stumpff Funeral Home with mass to be celebrated at Calvary cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24 with Father McGlinchey officiating.
Floyd Doty
ODESSA — Floyd “Papa” Doty, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2004. He moved to Odessa in 1931 and graduated from Odessa High School in 1937. He attended Decatur Baptist College and McMurry College and played football, basketball, baseball and tennis.
He was drafted into the Army on August 12, 1941, and completed Seacoast Artillery O.C.S at Fort Monroe, Virginia. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on October 2, 1942, and was stationed in Hawaii, the Mariana’s, the Philippines and Okinawa. At the war’s end, he returned to San Francisco and was promoted to Captain. In March of 1946, he left active service. He was always thinking of those that did not return from World War II. Doty became a licensed master plumber in 1949 and worked in the plumbing and pipefitting industry in Texas, Arkansas, Idaho and California, but he always hurried back to Odessa. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and past president of the Odessa chapter of AARP. He loved playing and watching any sport or competitive game and visiting and laughing with his friends and family. Doty will be remembered for his unconditional love, outstanding character and sense of humor. He will be missed tremendously by those who loved him dearly.
Doty was born September 9, 1919, in Morgan, Bosque County, Texas, to Floyd D Doty and Edna Earl Phipps. He moved to Odessa in 1934, and married
Patricia Key on November 21, 1949. They loved being together and traveled across the United States with his job, always enjoying the people and the new and different areas of the country.
Doty is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Faught and her spouse, Elton Faught, of Odessa. “Papa” was blessed with six grandchildren, Cynthia Malone of San Antonio, Doty Brown of Odessa, Ginger Mason of Greenville, South Carolina, Daniel Reed Jr. of Houston, Kathy Switzer of Magnolia and Krista Reed of Magnolia; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Doty is preceded in death by his spouse, Patricia Key Doty; son, Daniel Melvin Reed; parents, Floyd D. Doty and Edna Earl Phipps; and sister, Erecelle Wirt.
The family will receive guests at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Odessa with Pastor Johnny Young officiating. Pallbearers will be Elton Faught, David Brown, Ron Benke, Landon Miller, Kyle Brown and Forest Mathews. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
