Walter Frank Williams
ELDORADO — Walter Frank Williams was born June 1, 1944, to J. Tom and Cecile Hyde-Williams in Schleicher County. He graduated Eldorado High School in 1962, and entered the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Boston in the Mediterranean. Upon returning home from the service, he went to work for Northern Natural Gas Company. He met Claryce Schrier on September 5, 1964. Frank and Claryce were married
October 2, 1964. Together, they raised two daughters, Tina Rena and Teresa Ann. Frank was a very kind and giving man. He was always helping people. He was a very talented and creative carpenter, electrician, plumber, backhoe operator and especially loved building. He always did everything 150%. Most who knew him remember his garden. He gardened like his mom taught him — “Plant enough for the birds and the bees, your friends and neighbors, then, whatever is left is yours.”
Frank served as a city council member in Eldorado and was a member of the Jaycees. Frank served as an elder at Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, New Mexico. He served on the board and as president of Pine Springs Church Camp in Sacramento, N.M. He contributed countless hours rebuilding two of the main buildings of the camp after a tragic fire in 1989. He loved the camp and the people involved in operating it. He always wanted the kids who attended to have a nice place to worship the Lord. He always made sure no child who wanted to go to camp was left out.
He served as a hospital board member for Schleicher County Medical Center.
Frank battled many health problems over the years. Never did he complain about feeling bad, just wanted to do what he needed to do to get better. He would stand when it seemed there was no way he could have the strength. He was the best husband, father, Grandpa, adviser and friend anyone could ever have. We will all miss him more than words could possibly say, but we are comforted knowing he is in God’s care.
Thank you to all the friends and family who have said so many prayers on his behalf and supported us all. Thanks to the medical staff who cared for him and those of you who befriended him. Thank you to Mary Cobb, Alex Robles and Jeanie Lippe. Thank you to Dr. Hughston and Dr. Cornell for care, support, patience and comfort through everything.
