Teddy Joe and his sister, Tami, were only 13 months apart, and they have always had a special bond, as the following words from Tami declare:
“Teddy Joe Whitmire II is my brother. I will not say he “was” my brother, because I know I will see him again someday. He and I were always close, only 13 months apart in age. Growing up, everyone thought we were twins. He was a beautiful baby, and a very handsome man. I always admired his way with people and I know that he had many people who loved and admired him. I did not always see “eye to eye” with him, and towards the end of his life, he was so sick that it was hard to carry on the wonderful conversations that we used to have growing up. But through it all, I know that he knew I loved him and that I always thought he was special. They tell me I was so excited when he came home from the hospital as a baby. I continued to think he was just as special through the years, up until the day of his passing. I know he is without pain now, happy and handsome forever, and I will miss him dearly. Godspeed, Bro. All my love to you until we meet again in Heaven. Your sister, Tami Jo Whitmire.”
