Guadalupe ‘Lupito’ Saldana Robles
ODESSA — Guadalupe “Lupito” Saldana Robles, 20, of Odessa passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Lupito was born Sept. 7, 1983, in Odessa to Guadalupe and Benita S. Robles. He was a Christian and a student attending Odessa College.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gilberto Saladana; two uncles, Manuel Franco and Gilberto Saldana; and aunt, Diana Franco.
He is survived by his parents, Guadalupe and Benita S. Robles of Odessa; two brothers, Juan and Daniel Robles, both of Odessa; grandparents, Guadalupe and Maria De La Luz Robles of Fort Hancock, Texas, and Guadalupe Saldana of Socorro; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of friends.
Pallbearers will be Sergio Robles, Ricardo Robles, Alex Robles, Juan Sotelo, Jesus Manuel Franco, Jose Franco, Joel Sotelo and Aron Rodriguez.
A Prayer Service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Templo Buenas Nuevas, located on Sixth and Vine streets here in Odessa, with the Rev. Rosario Hill officiating, Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Opal Russell
MONAHANS — Opal Russell, 85, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Wilson, Okla., to John and Nora Russell. She was a retired employee of the Civil Service. She was one of the first computer programmers for the Civil Service. She was a member of the NARFE.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Nora Russell; brother, Oscar Russell; and sister, Jeanetta Russell Caraway.
She is survived by her brother, Billy E. Russell and wife Betty of Clearwater, Fla.; sister-in-law, Doris Russell of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at the Monahans cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Sadie Kaitlyn Saldivar
ANDREWS — Sadie Kaitlyn Saldivar left for Heaven to be with God on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She will be forever in our hearts and in our memories until we see her again.
Sadie may have only been 7 weeks old, but with her adorable personality and contagious smile, she was loved and adored by all who knew her.
Our little Angel Sadie was born on a cool Saturday morning on Jan. 17, 2004, at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, Calif., where her father was stationed with the U.S. Marines. They moved to Andrews a few weeks after Sadie’s birth.
She will be sadly missed by her parents, Brandon Saldivar and Melissa Hinojos Saldivar of Andrews; big brother, Kaleb Saldivar of Andrews; grandparents, Rudy and Wilma Hinojos of Odessa, Dr. Michael and Beth Neal of Hemphill and Joe and Pat Saldivar of Andrews; great-grandparents, Gene and Harlene Floyd of Andrews, Charlie and Mary Carrasco of Odessa, Santiago and Sofia Hinojos of Odessa and Joel Saldivar of Andrews; great-great grandmother, Luisa Chavez of Odessa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with the Rev. Bernard Gully, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Babyland cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Saldivar, Jason Saldivar and Manuel Carrasco.
Funeral services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Alton Eugene Towery
ODESSA — Alton Eugene Towery, of Luling, Texas, died on March 12, 2004.
Mr. Towery had moved from Odessa, Texas, in 2001, to be near his daughters.
He was a lifelong resident of the Midland/Odessa area and was a minister and missionary for more than 65 years.
He is survived by his partner and wife, Edith A. Towery of Luling.
Mr. Towery was born March 29, 1914, in Fannin County to James and Nora Towery and moved to Midland at age 15. Towery started preaching in 1948 and helped build three churches and pastored eight churches in Texas and New Mexico. While preaching, he saw thousands of persons saved, performed 500 weddings and preached countless funerals.
On Alton and Edith Towery’s 65th wedding anniversary in 1998, State Rep. George “Buddy” West presented the Towerys with a Texas flag that had flown over the State Capitol and read a resolution passed in the House and Senate recognizing them for their work in the ministry and long term marriage. Then-Gov. George W. Bush and first lady Laura sent a special greeting to the Towerys at their anniversary party, and the City of Odessa declared by proclamation, Feb. 7, 1998, as Alton and Edith Towery Day in Odessa.
Towery operated Operation Blessing and the Mission of Mercy for many years in Odessa, and his wife Edith was a strong partner in the ministry.
The Towerys married
in Midland County in 1934, and he is survived by his wife, Edith Skelton Towery of Luling; daughters, JoAnn Alexander of Luling, Wanda Sweatt and son-in-law Kerry Sweatt of Leakey and Joyce Williams of Luling; daughter-in-law, Vickie Towery of Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Alton was preceded in death by his son, Donel Towery; sons-in-law, Jerry Alexander and Allan Williams; grandson, Marcus Valentine; and great-grandson, Jerry Lon Hallmark.
The famly will receive visitors from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial cemetery.
Mike Fierro Jr.
ODESSA — Mike Fierro Jr., born to Mike and Amelia Fierro on Oct. 14, 1962, passed away on Jan. 15, 2004. He was a beloved son, brother and uncle who was always there for his family. Mike will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Visitation is at Martinez Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 10 p.m. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Arturo Pestin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Dee Addison McDaniel Jr.
ODESSA — Dee Addison McDaniel Jr., 82, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Iowa Park, Texas. He married
Laverne Ledbetter July 12, 1943, in Electra.
Mr. McDaniel served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked as field superintendent for Jim Hall for 15 years. He was a 51-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Denver City. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Alta McDaniel and brother, Orville McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife, Laverne McDaniel of Odessa; son, Mark McDaniel and wife Maurene of Midland; daughters, Sharon Shaw and husband Jim of Spring, Cathie Whitley and husband Scott of San Diego, Calif., and Treva Powell and husband Chris of Monahans; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff in I.C.U. at Medical Center Hospital.

Tommy K. Moss
MIDLAND — Tommy K. Moss, age 62, died Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
He was born February 22, 1941 in Blewett, Texas, and was the third of four children born to Alfred and Zena Moss. Tommy was a graduate of Uvalde High School and Tarleton State University in Stephenville. He worked for Highlands Insurance Company as a safety engineer for 25 years until his retirement in 1996. Most recently, he worked for Diamond Tank Rental in Odessa.
Tommy was past Master and life member of the Masonic Lodge at Goldsmith. He was also a life member of Andrews Lodge #1024 (his parent lodge) and an honorary member of Andy G. Vaughn Lodge #1421, Odessa Lodge #955 and Fellowship Lodge #1385.
Tommy is survived by his daughters, Scarlett Foster-Moss of Vashon Island, Wash.; Mindy Turner and her husband, Roger, of Midland, Texas; son, Chad Moss of Lockhart, Texas; granddaughters, Brooke, Blair and Bailey Turner, all of Midland, Texas; sisters, Billie Jean Graham of Deming, N.M.; Sissie Parham of Uvalde, Texas; brother, Rusty Moss and his wife, Phyllis, of Uvalde, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2004, at Uvalde City cemetery, Uvalde, Texas.

J.B. Pairish
CRANE — Funeral Services for J.B. Pairish, 89, of Crane, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Crane with Reverend Steve Baker officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. in the Fairview cemetery in Bronte, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
J.B. passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2004, in the Odessa Medical Center Hospital. J.B. was born on August 11, 1914 in Bronte, Coke County, Texas. He was the son of “W.J.” Wint Jefferson Pairish and Florence McKeehan Pairish. He had been a resident of Crane since 1965. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
J.B. graduated from Bronte High School in 1934 and in 1935 winning a scholarship in football to go to college at A&M, College Station, where he went one year.
He is survived by one son, Janson B. Pairish of Fort Stockton, Texas; two grandchildren, Melanie Pairish Lopez of Fort Worth and Shane Pairish of Iraan. Three great-grandchildren, two boys, Bryan and Blake, and a precious Little Angel girl, Baylee Marie Lopez of Fort Worth; one step-great-grandson, Joseph Pairish of Fort Stockton.
They will miss their Pap-paw. He was the Love of their life. He is also survived by a special nephew, James Pairish and his wife Beth and family of Bakersfield, Calif., who stood by him faithfully through his illness. A niece, Eddy Sue McCauley Carter of Marble Falls, Texas; and seven special nieces and nephews, Bobby, Patsy, Ellen, Victor, Mary Frances, Jerry and Stanley who he and Jewell kept for a long time.
They were all the Love of his life, plus a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins and Bucky and Lee Scarborough.
Janson says, “Dad, thank you for being my best friend and my strength for 62 years. You are now in the Lord’s arms at peace forever. You are missed and loved by many relatives and friends.”
J.B. was preceded in death by his wife, Nina, his parents, “W.J.” Wint and his mother, Florence McKeehan Pairish, one brother, John M. Pairish, two sisters, Bonnie McCauley and Dean Conner.
