Robert Ray Spinks Sr.
MONAHANS — Services for Robert Ray “Bob” Spinks Sr. of Monahans have been scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Southside Baptist Church of Monahans with the Rev. Bob Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Monahans Memorial cemetery. Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey. He passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Bob was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Harwood to James Robert Spinks and Bertha Frances (Dlugosch) Spinks. He married
Peggy Jean Faircloth on Nov. 20, 1945, in Monahans. They have three children, Bobby Spinks of Monahans, Janis Williams of Pampa and Becky Board of Illinois. Also six grandchildren, Amy Strickland, Jamie Bailey, Emily Fisher, Kathryn Wildrick, Doug Williams and Peggy Williams. They also have nine great-grandchildren.
Bob served in the Pacific Theatre with the Flying Tigers in World War II. Due to his bravery and love of his country, he was very highly decorated. Among other decorations, he received four Battle Stars, the Distinguished Flying Cross and was personally awarded a medal from Madam Chaing Kai-Shek.
His service to his community included the Ward County Hospital Board, the Physicians Recruitment Team, Ward County Commissioner, the Economic Development Board, and other numerous projects. He was most proud of being instrumental in the planning of the Community Center.
Bob and Jean were members of Southside Baptist Church for over 40 years.
Along with his wife Jean, and children, and grandchildren, Bob is survived by his brothers, Leroy Spinks of Odessa and Alan Spinks of Midland, as well as a sister, Rita Hendershot of Gonzales.
Helen Elizabeth Boverie
ODESSA — Helen Elizabeth Boverie, 79, resident of Odessa since 1996, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 7, 2004. She cherished her relationship with Jesus Christ and knew she would spend eternity with him. Helen was born in Chanute, Kan., on May 12, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ester and Jesse Mathis. Also preceding her was her husband, John Boverie, and grandsons, Brent and Derek Corbin.
She is survived by daughters, Sharron Koenig and husband, Walt, of Grand River, Ohio, and by Linda Sullivan and husband, David, of Odessa. She also has three stepsons, Jack Boverie of Kendal, Texas, John Boverie of Denver, Colo., and Jules Boverie of Lubbock, Texas. Her only sibling is brother, Frank Strayer, and wife, Phyllis, of Prescott, Ariz.
Grandchildren are Robert Boyd and wife, Karen, of Manchester, Md., Andrea Douthit and husband, Chuck, of Arlington, Texas, Jennifer Bizzell and husband, Eddy, of Odessa, Texas, and Jason Boyd and wife, Heather, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
She had two great-grandchildren, Bailey Douthit and Carlee Bizzell.
The joy of her life has been her church. She was an active member of “Young at Heart” and of her Sunday school class at Temple Baptist Church.
Services will be held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors in Odessa on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Johnny Thomason from Temple Baptist officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
We need not ponder death with fear,
Though what’s ahead we cannot see:
For we who put our faith in Christ
Look forward to eternity.

Clarence Earl Corzine
ODESSA — Clarence Earl Corzine, 84, a resident of Odessa since 1948, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Alliance Hospital. He was born March 18, 1920, in Ponca City, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married
Ethel Zumwalt March 14, 1947, in Winfield, Kan. They were married
for 57 years.
Clarence had worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for over 35 years. He and Ethel had been members of Crescent Park Baptist Church for 30 years and he had been a greeter at the east door for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Irma Corzine, and brother, John Corzine.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Corzine of Odessa; sons, Tracy Corzine and wife, Carolyn, and Danny Corzine and wife, Glyndel, all of Tyler; daughter, Anita Miller of Odessa; brother, Roger Corzine of Odessa; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of dear friends.
There will be a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Crescent Park Baptist Church with grandson, Dr. Shawn Corzine assisted by Dr. Johnny Dickerson, Pastor at Crescent Park Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Crescent Park Baptist Church Building Fund.

Barbara Cree Kistner
HOUSTON — Barbara Cree “Bobbie” Kistner passed peacefully at home on April 2, 2004, at the age of 59.
She was born April 11, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, MI, to Mel and Jeanne Cree. She married
Tom Kistner on December 25, 1986.
Bobbie is survived by husband, Tom of Houston; daughter, Erin Field of Incline Village, NV; son, Kyle Field III of Belmont, CA; sister, Julie Logsdon and husband, Weldon of Odessa, TX; daughters, Kristin Hall of Spring, TX, Marcia Roberg of Orangeberg, SC, Cheri Champagne, Montgomery, AL; son, Tim Kistner of Alexandria, VA; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2004, in the chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive.

Nannette Boone Voss
ODESSA — Nannette Boone Voss, 72, of Odessa passed away Monday, April 5, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1931, in Odessa, Texas, to Reginald Charles and Dorothy Cecile L. Voss. She was a Christian and worked as a secretary for many oil industry companies in Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Patty Woods and Judy Nemir.
She is survived by two sons, Dan Reginald Voss of Odessa and Jules Louis Boone of Virginia; daughter, Patricia Mae Bales “Cadillac” of Midland; three grandchildren, Levi Colt Howland, Dylan Paul Howland and Byron Dan Voss; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 702 W. Ada St. in Odessa with Brother Bob Porterfield of Kentucky Baptist Church of Midland will direct. Interment to be held private at a later date.
Nannette Boone Voss, our mother and friend to all, went home to the Lord and Savior this fifth day of April 2004. She was born to Reginald Charles Voss and Dorothy Leneux in Odessa, Texas, May 22, 1931.
Nan graduated from Odessa High School, then became a model, mother and secretary. She was Miss Security Redhead at the oil shows and in parades. She worked for Franklin Oil Supply, Drilco, Seco Production, then finally for Guy and Joe Maybe Oil. After she retired she helped raise her grandchildren and loved all of us unconditionally.
Mom was a wonderful person and will be missed by all she met and knew. She was so very smart, kind and full of life and much joy.
Services are by Odessa Funeral Home.
Daniel R. Amaya
ODESSA — Daniel R. Amaya, 22, was killed in action while serving his country in Iraq on April 11, 2004.
Dan was a very proud Marine and American. He was a 2000 graduate of Odessa High School.
He is survived by his parents, David and Kacey Carpenter; his father, Tom Amaya of El Paso; brother, Joe Amaya of Pennsylvania; brother, Aaron, and sister, Victoria, both of Odessa; grandparents, Bill and Carol Slyman of New York and Bob and Dort Anderson of Kansas. There are also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Marie.
We are very proud of Dan and love him greatly.
Dan died doing what he really loved – serving in the U.S. Marines.
There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at the Fort Bliss National cemetery in El Paso.
Hazel ‘Polly’ Houseman
PASADENA — Hazel “Polly” Houseman died on Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. She was born on February 10, 1940, in Groves, Texas, to Cecil Hayes and J.M. Youngblood.
Polly was educated at Groves/Port Neches High School and Lamar University, where she received her master’s in education. Teaching was important to her because she had been given much and wanted to give of herself. She taught history at Vidor Junior High for 27 years and received awards for her re-enactment style of teaching history.
Once she retired from teaching public school, she volunteered with the American Heart Association. Polly gave presentations in schools teaching children how to have healthy hearts. She was named the regional volunteer of the year by the American Heart Association for her work.
Poll’s faith and gregarious nature made her a valued member of the church congregations she was a part of. She will be missed by the people of the First Baptist Church of Vidor, the First Baptist Church of Crystal Beach and the First Baptist Church of Deer Park. If life is valued by the people you touch, Polly was truly wealthy.
She is survived by two sisters, Sue and Barbara Elaine. She is also survived by her daughter, Susan, and her three grandsons Richard, Stephen and Colin.
Polly would like those who remember her to know that she was a woman of faith and to know that she is in a better place now, with no pain and no disease. She will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Grand View Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Anahuac cemetery.
Dona Lavell Muldrow
ARCHER CITY — Dona Lavell Muldrow, 93, of Odessa and formerly of Monahans, passed away Monday, April 12, 2004, at the Sienna Care Center. She was born Jan. 23, 1911, in Blackwell, Texas. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by three sons, W. C. Muldrow of Abilene, Gene Muldrow of Archer City, and James Kenneth Muldrow and wife, Carla, of Tom Ball; daughter, Helen Barber and husband, Lawrence L. Barber, of Odessa; two grandchildren, Debra Howell of Flower Mound and Ken Muldrow of Milford, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at the Archer City cemetery with Willie Johnson officiating.
