Billy Campbell
ODESSA — Billy Campbell, age 64, a long-time resident of Odessa, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born on April 13, 1940, in Haskell, Texas.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Laminack and step-father, Pete Laminack, both of Colorado City, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Capel Campbell of Odessa; daughters, Debra Jones, Sintery Thickstun, and Trudy Anderson and husband, Steve, all of San Marcos; his daughter’s mother, Reba Campbell; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his very best friend, Jimmy Jones.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Whitley Campbell.
Bill was a Baptist. He was a member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang, the National Association of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors, the Odessa Board of Realtors and the West Texas Regional Multiple Listing Services.
He was an active real estate broker for Holly Sorrells Realtors Inc., and was Salesman of the Year for the Odessa Board of Realtors in 1977.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Wanda Louise Lake Jones Cullison
ODESSA — On May 22, 2004, at the age of 70, Wanda Louise Cullison, said goodbye to her earthly body and passed into an eternity of rest and peace.
Granny, as she was known to all, was surrounded by her loving family as she went home to God.
Services for Mrs. Cullison will be held at 4 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Wanda Louise Lake was born to Ivan Leroy and Mamie Lee Lake in Wetumka, Okla., on March 11, 1934. She spent her childhood years in the Altus, Okla., area, where she met and married
Howard R. Jones.
Louise and Howard moved to Odessa in 1954. There were five children born to this marriage; Howard Dale, Jimmie Dean, Willard Lee, Debra Karen, and Christine Janine.
Howard preceded Louise in death in 1959. Louise later married
Charles Cullison, and they had one child, Everett Lee.
She loved her family and never missed an opportunity to be with them on holidays and other events. When the children were young, she would gather them up and go to Tuesday night wrestling matches at the Ector County Coliseum.
She loved gardening and raising animals. Louise often would help keep the nurseries at the churches where she and her children attended; Westover and Westside Baptist.
Wanda Louise Cullison was preceded in death by her two husbands, Howard R. Jones and Charles Leroy Cullison; her parents, Ivan and Mamie Lake; brothers, R.C. Lake, Clausie Lake and Wilburn Lake; and sisters, Barbara Phillips and Carline Cullison.
She is survived by one sister, Audine Meinert of Odessa; six children, Howard Dale Jones and Jimmie Dean Jones, both of Odessa, Willard Lee Jones of Raleigh, N.C., Debra Karen Harkness of Odessa, Christine Janine Sader of Andrews, and Everett Lee Cullison of Odessa; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Jackie J. Dorris
ODESSA — Jackie J. Dorris, a homemaker of Odessa, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004, at her residence. She was born February 23, 1932, in, Tulsa, Okla., to John Burl and Mary Helen Pritchett.
A family visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Temple Baptist Church with Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Jackie Dorris, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister departed this world to be with her lifelong Friend and Savior in glory. She was eagerly anticipating this long-awaited event with joy and peace. Jackie gave her entire life in service to her family and others and in keeping with her deep compassion she was always a champion for the weak. Gladly and wholeheartedly, she gave of herself and her resources so many children would be fed and clothed. But her greatest joy was in telling them about her Jesus. The last nine years she battled with Parkinson’s and MDA. Even as her body began to deteriorate and die, her spirit remained bright, active and alive. She was always eager and delighted to see her family and attend their various activities, particularly those of her two great-granddaughters. Her life has been and will continue to be a witness for her Lord and His great love. She will be greatly missed, but we all know that one day we shall see her again.
Survivors include her husband Glenn Dorris of Odessa; daughter Darla K. Louvin and husband, Terry L., of Magnolia, Texas; sisters, Bobbie Pritchett Witten of Collinsville, Okla., and Debra Ann Pritchett Young of Broken Arrow, Okla.; grandchildren, Tisha Dana Crow, Christopher Curt Howell, Logan David Dorris and Kristin Ray Crow; and great-grandchildren, Jaden Kristine Crow and Julianna Kay Crow.

Bruce Grewell
ODESSA — Mason Bruce Grewell passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Bruce was born March 30, 1961, in Odessa, Texas, to Helen and Charlie Grewell. Bruce attended Pease Elementary, Bowie Junior High School and Odessa High School. While at Odessa High School, he enjoyed being a member of the varsity golf team for three years. Bruce graduated from Odessa High School in May of 1979 and later thoroughly enjoyed a year in Ruidosa as an accomplished snow skier. He returned to Odessa and graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing. Throughout his life, he had memorable camping and bird hunting trips with his father and brother as he was an excellent marksman. Bruce and his mother shared a love for reading and had many conversations about the books they enjoyed. Golfing, scuba diving and jet boating were also his passions.
Bruce married
Kem on December 16, 1989, promising to love, honor, respect and cherish his wife and their marriage until his last moment on earth. No promise was more faithfully kept and treasured; no wife could have had a more loving and giving husband and friend in life.
Bruce was a kind and gentle parent to Nick and Jessica. He welcomed them into his heart and home. He thoroughly enjoyed experiencing their upbringing and milestones. We are certain he will be watching from Heaven as Jessica graduates from his high school alma mater this Saturday. Nick and Jessica have always loved Bruce and are so proud to have had him in their lives.
Bruce was in the gas compression industry for 16 years while developing his passion for gourmet cooking. He loved to host soirees from his many friends and family. Bruce was a great storyteller and relished entertaining people with love, laughter and food. Bruce treasured the small joys of life and knew when to stop and smell the roses. He was certainly an honored and vital member of his cherished families.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Kem Grewell; children, Nick and Jessica Matz; his parents, Helen and Charlie Grewell; his brother, Gabe Grewell; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Bruce was called home by God to be reunited with his grandparents, Ruby and Ward Mason Grewell and Ida and Arba Perry DeWitt, his cousin Scott Coleman, and the friends he held dear that have gone home before him.
Bruce will be greatly missed by each of us, but he lives on in our hearts and memories. We have his laugh and smile etched in our hearts.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa, with the Reverend Terry Tamplin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 25th at Sunset Funeral Home.

Manuel Ramirez
ODESSA — Manuel M. Ramirez, 41, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital West Campus in Midland, Texas. Manuel was born January 3, 1963, in Odessa to father Raul Ramirez and mother Asencion Munoz. Manuel was a catholic.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at 717 Jeter Ave. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County cemetery in the Rosehill section.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jimenez Ramirez of Midland; three daughters, Amy Ramirez of Houston, Abby Ramirez of Odessa, and Clarissa Ramirez of Midland; five sons, Manuel Ramirez Jr. and George Ramirez, both of Odessa and Stephen Ray Ramirez, Sergio Ramirez, and Aaron Ramirez, all of Midland; his parents, Raul & Asencion Ramirez of Odessa; one brother, Joe Ramirez of Midland; four sisters, Juanita Hernandez, Dora Hernandez, Yolanda Ramirez, and Maryann Ramirez, all of Odessa; and one grandchild.

Edna Mae Moss
ALPINE — Edna Mae Moss, of Alpine, Texas, passed away from this life on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. She was a beloved wife, mother and great grandmother. Her family loved her very much and always said she “loved us all through thick and thin.” She was born on October 16, 1908, in Portales, N.M., and lived a long and fruitful life, all but twenty years of it in Alpine. She came to Alpine in 1928 as a beautiful young lady and married
Joe Moss on March 22, 1930. From this marriage were born Joe W. Moss and Nellie Mae Haynes.
From the family of Joe W. and Marlene Moss were born Jeanne Ann Walthall, Joe Marlin Moss, and Lisa Lively. Her great-grandchildren in this family are Keri Walthall, Kristi Walthall, Sean Lively, Zachary Lively and Ashley Lively.
From the family of Nellie and Harold O. Haynes were born Martha Sue Munoz, Joe Lynn Haynes and Mary Beth Serrano. Her great-grandchildren in this family are Victor E. Munoz Jr., Keziah Michelle Munoz, Cody Majorowski Haynes, Levi Harold Haynes, Joe Greer Haynes, Amanda Lea Serrano, Jarrett West and Ryan Serrano. Sisters-in-law are Wilma Wheat, Anna L. Moss and Mrs. Clifton Moss.
In her lifetime, Edna Mae was a butcher, waitress, fur trader, cow trader, bookkeeper, saleslady, seamstress and cook. She is well remembered by her friends and family as a musician, disciplinarian, nurse, family historian and family matriarch. She played the piano and accordion with a pop band, a Mexican band and a country and western band. She helped many students complete their college education. She will be missed so much by all of us. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2004, at Geeslin Funeral Home Chapel in Alpine, Texas. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Joe Moss, in Elm Grove cemetery. Thomas Matthew ‘Matt’ Rees
ODESSA — Thomas Matthew “Matt” Rees, 85, long-time foreign language teacher at Odessa College, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at the Hospice House.
He was born August 25, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Thomas Matthew and Rebecca Ann “Bess” Angell Rees.
A graduate of Stanford University, where he earned a master’s degree and taught Portuguese while pursuing studies toward his doctorate, he also attended the University of Utah. He taught Spanish at Purdue University and English at the Instituto Cultural Brasileiro dos Estados Unidos in Brazil, as well as serving for two years as its director.
He attended Marine Corps Officer Candidate School during World War II, and then served for three years in the U.S. Army as an interpreter, both in France and in Germany.
In 1947, he married
Celestia “Tess” Moench in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An active member of the LDS church, he served a two-year mission in Arizona and Texas. After retirement from Odessa College, he served a second mission with his wife in Argentina.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, four daughters: Brigham Dean Rees of Manassas, Va., Joel Matthew Rees of Amagasaki, Japan, Sharla Rees of Salt Lake City, Utah, Laurie Rees Bush of Atlanta, Ga., RaeLynn Rees Shattuck of Balch Springs, Texas, and Ginette Rogers of Roosevelt, Utah; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandson, and a sister, Winifred Erickson, of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Viewing will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2004. A viewing will also be held 9 - 9:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 1, 2004, prior to the funeral services which will begin at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5401 John Ben Sheppard Parkway.

Mattie Belle Hays
MONAHANS — Mattie Belle Hays, 80, of Monahans died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Ward Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 11, 1924, in Hermleigh, Texas, to Roy and Lillie (Barefoot) Smith.
She was married
to Walter T. Hays on Sept. 26, 1945, in Snyder, Texas. He preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1995. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by four sons, Royce Hays of McAllen, Jimmy Hays of Abilene, Vernon Hays of Kingsland and Johnny Hays of Monahans; and three daughters, Ruby Daugherty of Lubbock, Nancy Wells of Monahans and Marjorie Hays of Cave City, Ark. She is also survived by two brothers, Harvey Lee Smith and Bobby Smith, both of Brownwood; and two sisters, Estelle Thompson and Billie Joe Farnsworth, both of Lamesa. She’s also survived by 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Smith in January 2003.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Third & Dwight Church of Christ, with Greg Holly officiating. Burial will follow in Monahans Memorial cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
