J. T. Williams
BIG SPRING — J. T. Williams, 89, of Odessa and formerly of Big Spring, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 6:05 a.m. at the Hospice House of Odessa.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with his son, Rev. Tommy D. Williams, former pastor of Christ Fellowship Center in Big Spring, assisted by Ralph Anderson, minister of the 11th & Birdwell Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was born on January 18, 1915, in Tioga, Texas, to James Thomas and Sudie Click Williams. He married
Julia Ben Mitchell on December 23, 1937, in Midland, Texas; and she preceded him in death on October 16, 1999.
Mr. Williams had lived in Big Spring since 1941 until 1995 when he moved to Odessa, Texas.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving from May 3, 1944, to February 2, 1946. He was a member of the Birdwell Lane Church of Christ in Big Spring and later Eisenhower Church of Christ in Odessa.
Mr. Williams had worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Big Spring State Hospital and retired in 1983; and had also been a longtime building contractor since 1941 in Big Spring, Texas.
He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Brooks and her husband, Mike, of Odessa; two sons, Tommy Williams and his wife, Jo Ann, of Fort Worth and Troy Williams of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, Terina Ann Williams Damron and Cembra Lynn Sanders, both of Fort Worth, Jackie Lynn Williams and Martin Quinn Williams, both of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Buddy Michael Brooks of Odessa and Jill Rene Brooks of Arlington; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary Macaleb Sanders, Desirae Nichole Sanders, Shellby Celeste Sanders, Jincy Mellisa Williams Damron and Quintin Silva.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by ten brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Brooks, Mike Brooks, Brian Sanders, Martin Williams, Jimmy Heard and Zachary Sanders.

Ruth Helen Duncan
ODESSA — Ruth Helen Duncan, 78, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, in Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Ruth was born on March 16, 1925, in Stigler, Okla., to George and Lillian Montgomery. She was united in marriage to Oscar Duncan on June 10, 1943, in Arkansas. They moved to Odessa in 1952. Ruth enjoyed life. She loved to fish, watch birds, and spend lots of time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruby Tull and husband, Wayne, of Odessa, Carolyn Hardegree and husband, James, of Odessa, Linda Boruff and husband, Jerry, of Odessa; brother, Joe Montgomery and wife, Beatrice, of Cross Plains; grandchildren, Karen Jones of Odessa, Laura Rodriguez of Odessa, Tonya Sides and husband, Billy, of Abilene, Stephen Hutson and wife, Misty, of Odessa, Kimberly Clayton of Odessa, Stephanie Brazeal of Shreveport, La., Robert Brazeal and wife, Melissa, of Monahans, and Connie Hardegree of Odessa; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Montgomery; husband, Oscar; one son, Billy Duncan; sister, Ruby Montgomery; and two brothers, Raymond and Jack Montgomery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Tull, James Hardegree, Jerry Boruff, Billy Sides, Larry Tull and Larry Tull Jr.

Baylis Earle Farrell Jr.
KELLER — Baylis Earle Farrell Jr., 81, passed away after a brief illness in Dallas, Texas, on March 9, 2004.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at DFW National cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels.
He was born in Marlin, Texas, to Baylis Earle Farrell Sr. and Louise Knickerbocker Farrell on Sept. 28, 1922. He was raised in Waco and graduated from Waco High School. He attended John Tarleton College and enlisted in the U.S. Army in September, 1942. He served his country valiantly as a Tank Commander in Company C, 813th Tanker Destroyer Battalion. He served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Normandy and Germany.
He married
Kathleen Keller on April 26, 1946. He moved to Odessa in 1947 and worked with Phillips Petroleum. During his career, he managed pipeline construction projects in Mexico, Canada and Alaska, as well as Texas. He retired from Phillips in 1984 and moved to Lubbock in 1988, until 1996 when he moved to Keller, Texas.
His passions included his family and his Bosque Country Ranch. His beloved wife, Kathleen, died in 2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Easley; son, Earle Farrell; and two grandchildren.
Ethel Ferguson
ODESSA — Ethel Ferguson, 89, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was born March 26, 1914, in Lufkin, Texas, to James Washington Griffin and Viola Bartlett Griffin. She married
J.D. Ferguson August 23, 1930. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1998; six brothers; five sisters; son, Jerry Lynn Ferguson; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Wilson of Hobbs, N.M., and Dorothy Adams of Odessa; son, Ted Ray Ferguson of Denver City; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund.

Bill Fitch
ODESSA — Billy Brines “Bill” Fitch, age 74, passed away from this earthly life Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at his home.
He was born May 12, 1929, in Cabbage Corner, Wabash County, Illinois. He was raised in Burton Community, known as Hell, Texas, on a farm.
He was a retired truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Atwood and Pauline Brines Fitch, and a daughter, Barbara Jean Fitch.
He leaves behind his wife, Alice Marie Fitch; and grandson, Joseph Smith, both of the home. He is also survived by a son, Steven Ray Fitch and his wife, Karen; daughters, Deborah Ann Childs and her husband, Andy, Sherry Lynne Raney and her husband, Rick, Lillie Parmenter and her husband, Michael, Nelda Groff and her husband, Dave, Charlene Jordon and her husband, Efrin, Beckie Kirk and Debbie Joplin. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, John Henry Fitch of Odessa; and one sister, Barbara Ann Gubbins of Cut and Shoot, Texas.
Visitation was from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Chapa Funeral Home, 1050 S. Dixie Blvd. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Ector County cemetery, Odessa Section, with the Revs. Neil Childs, J.Y. Durham and Weeks Dubose officiating.
The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice for all the love, kindness and support during Bill’s illness.
William Kelley Roberson
ODESSA — William Kelley Roberson, 85, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the Hospice House. He was born Dec. 4, 1918, to Charley and Mattie Roberson in Johnson City, Tenn. He was raised in Paris, Tenn., and played the tuba in the Grove High School Band and went on to play in an orchestra during the “Big Band” era.
He married
Darlyene McCuiston September 4, 1941, in Paris, Tenn. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served as an aviation metalsmith in Hawaii until 1946.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he and Darlyene moved to Odessa where they made their home and raised three children.
William and Darlyene were members of First Baptist Church for many years. He was a 32nd degree Mason at Masonic Lodge 955. He received his 40-year pin in 2003. Better known to co-workers as “Robby” anyone that worked with him knew his talent with sheet metal to be a work of art.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Darlyene, in August 2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Heslep; son, Bill Roberson and wife, Liz; and daughter, Claudia Roberson, all of Odessa; grandchildren, Angie Crow and husband, Steve, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Katherine Nelson and husband, Shawn, of Canyon Lake, Texas, Chris Roberson and wife, Summer, of Round Rock; and great-grandchildren, Kelly, Casey and Kevin Crow and Will Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bastion Cole Burney
ODESSA — Bastion Cole Burney, infant son of Brian and April Burney, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Brian and April Burney of Odessa; grandparents, Robert and Beth Voglino of Kingsland and Bill & Karen Burney, all of Odessa; great-grandmothers, JoAnne McCafferty and Jackie Voglino, both of Odessa.
A memorial fund is set up at Sherwood Christian Academy in care of Bastion Burney.

Gertrude Ida Gouge
ODESSA — Gertrude Ida Gouge, 82, a longtime resident of Odessa and of Pentecostal faith, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 20, 2004, after a lengthy illness. She was born October 29, 1921, in Rush Springs, Okla., to Raymond and Ida Mae Goodnight. She married
Alvin Leon Gouge on December 18, 1939, in New Mexico. They had two daughters. She worked 30-odd years with Sears & Roebuck Inc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ida Mae Goodnight, husband Alvin Leon Gouge, and one brother, Robert Franklin “Sonny” Goodnight.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Fern Darnell and Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Hohertz; five grandchildren, Deanna Hisaw and husband, David, Derrick Wayland Hohertz and wife, JoAnn, Brandon Jay Conner and wife, Georgiana, Michael Craig Conner and John David Darnell; four great-grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Hisaw, CaSandra Denay Hisaw, Thomas Alvin Hohertz and Brandon Michael Conner; two brothers, Raymond and Duane Goodnight; and three sisters, Margrette Galyon, Roberta Nichols, Jean Locke and many nieces and nephews.
