Paula Dalene Mefford Wheatly
ODESSA — Paula Dalene Mefford Wheatly, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and grandmother, returned to her heavenly Father on Thursday, May 20, 2004, after forty-six years and one month of giving all that she had to her God, her family, her friends, and those she touched simply by being Paula. She was born in Odessa on April 20, 1958, and lived her entire life in the Odessa-Midland area, graduating from Permian High School in 1976.
Paula’s dream was to be a homemaker and mother and this was fulfilled with the births of the children she adored, Bradley Scott Campbell in 1979 and Keri Rachel Wheatly in 1984. No children were more loved and cherished by a mother than her beautiful Brad and Rachel; no mother was more proud of her children or filled a home with more warmth, laughter, and love.
Paula married
Russell James Wheatly on June 25, 1983, promising to love, honor, respect, and cherish her husband and marriage until her last moment in this world. No promise was more faithfully kept and treasured; no husband could have more loving and giving partner in life.
Paula was a daughter of Glen and Ann Mefford, sister to Glenda Moore, sister-in–law to Royce Moore, aunt to Molly Moore, and grandmother to Ryland and Ashley Campbell. Paula loved her family and friends and delighted in the moments spent with each person that touched her life.
Paula was a child of God who loved Him, loved others as herself, and always gave of herself all that she had to give. Even in death, she gave of herself by allowing the donation of her organs and tissues to go to those in need.
Paula is reunited now with her beloved father, Glen, and niece, Amber, but she lives on in the hearts and memories of those that knew and loved her because Paula brought moments of joy and compassion, laughter and love into their lives. We love Paula, and we will miss and cherish her.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Crescent Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Dickerson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Birds are chirping, the sky is bright, angels are singing, what a beautiful sight. I see the tears roll down your face. Please remember I’m in a better place. I have no pain, I’m feeling so well, God is with me I can tell. As I go on my journey, to my way home I look around and I’m not alone.
Mom and Dad are on my right, holding Joe Dale, what a beautiful sight. Charles, Harry, Birdie & Don are in front of me, waving me on.
Only cry for me awhile, close your eyes and you can see me smile. The warmth you feel in your heart, it’s just me letting you know we will never part.
My beloved children you’re not alone, you have each other, and you must go on. When you are sad, sit down for awhile, think of me and you will smile.
God works in many wonderful ways, we will see each other again one of these days. Every time you say a prayer you will know I am there.
