Lucille Sutton-Beck
ODESSA — O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good. Because His mercy endureth forever.
Lucille Sutton-Beck, 84, of Odessa, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 23, 2004, in the ICU at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born May 20, 1920, in Carthage, Texas, to the parentage of Allen Sutton and Lottie Hooker-Sutton.
Mrs. Beck was a homemaker and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lottie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bunny S. Beck; a son, Howard Beck; a granddaughter, Donna Baldero; a great-grandson, Hailall Baldero; and a great-granddaughter, Bunny Terry.
Mrs. Lottie Beck is survived by two sons, Henry Beck of Odessa and Harvey Harper of San Angelo; sisters, Mildred Burts and Hazel Servance (the Rev. Richmond L.), both of Odessa; one brother, the Rev. Roscoe Sutton of Odessa; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
You may visit with Lottie at Martinez Funeral Home between 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday and 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lottie Beck will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 W. Clements Drive, with the Rev. Hezekiah Lewis officiating and the Rev. Charles Martin as eulogist.
Burial will follow at the Ector County cemetery’s Rose Hill section.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Medical Center Hospital, ICU Dr. R.J. Patel and all of her caregivers for their caring nature and professionalism.
Evelyn P. King
ODESSA — Evelyn P. King, age 89, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Tapley officiating.
Evelyn was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Cookville, Texas, to James and Mattie McCormack. Evelyn was a teacher, and she taught at ECISD for 27 years, mostly at Bonham Junior High. She married
Harmon L. King on June 19, 1932, and they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage together. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jimmy K. Story and husband Ernest; son, Harmon L. King Jr. and wife Toni; grandchildren, Kathleen Story, Laura J. Young, Evelyn A. Miller, Kris Tullos and Scott King; great-grandchildren, Colleen Young, Calder Young, Caleb Stricklen, Kennedy Tullos, Keegan Tullos and Sara Tullos.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Rex Aldo Lamberti
MIDLAND — Rex Aldo Lamberti, 61, of Midland, died on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring St., in Midland, with Michael Philliber, Chaplain of Home Hospice, officiating.
Mr. Lamberti was born on Nov. 25, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, and married
Harriett Effie Hall on June 5 in Iowa.
Rex was formally of Ankeny, Iowa. He was a retired carpenter who loved golf, his grandkids and anything from Iowa. He was a member of the Tradesman Union.
Survivors include three sons, Rex Lamberti IV of The Woodlands, Tony Lamberti of Mansfield and Michael Lamberti of Colorado City; one daughter, Kathy Lance of Midland; one sister, Patricia Shear of Houston; three brothers, Robert A. Lamberti of Bay City, Texas, Darrell R. Lamberti of Kansas City, Mo., and Randy P. Lamberti of Gonzalez; and five grandchildren, Grant Hall Lamberti, Regan Lamberti, Nicolas Lamberti, Jett Lamberti and Nathan Lamberti.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett; his parents, Rex and Helen Lamberti; and two brothers, Lonnie Lamberti and Rodney Lamberti.

Iwana ‘Pinkie’ Montgomery
ODESSA — Iwana Odelle Montgomery passed away Sept. 22, 2004.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Garden and Funeral Home, presided by Dr. David Mindel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas.
Pinkie was born May 8, 1923, in Eldorado, Ark. She married
Lewie Montgomery in 1944. That year, they moved to Odessa from Arkansas. Lewie preceded her in death in 1998.
Pinkie was a retired real estate broker and member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. In recent years she has lived in Seguin, Texas.
She is survived by her children, Patsy Hunt of McQueeney, Texas, Jimmy Montgomery of Houston, Texas, and Douglas Manor of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren, Summer Perry, David Montgomery, Lisa Hill and Jason Hunt; ten great-grandchildren; as well as many nephews and nieces.

Ryan Eli Ybarra
ODESSA — Ryan Eli Ybarra, 16, of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Frank W. Wilson Chapel with Samuel Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill cemetery.
He was born Sept. 13, 1988, in Odessa, Texas. He attended Hood Junior High School.
He is survived by his parents Richard and Olivia Ybarra of Odessa; brothers, Raymond Brito Jr. of Odessa and Adam Lee Ybarra of Pecos; sister, Jasmine Ybarra of Odessa; grandparents, Carrie Ybarra of Fort Stockton and Ernestina and Eliseo Gonzales of Odessa; and nephew, Caleb R. Brito of Odessa.

Alpha Tatum Jones
ODESSA — Alpha Tatum Jones, of Odessa, a woman personified by her faith in God, a love for her family and a dignity apparent to all, passed away Saturday, July 31 in Baytown, TX. She was born August 4, 1922, in Carter, Oklahoma and resided in Odessa most of her life. A member of First Baptist Church for more than fifty years, Alpha served as past president of the WMU, active supporter of the children’s and youth programs and encourager to all. Her loyalty to those in need was unsurpassed. Other organizations include the Odessa Study Club and Meals-on-Wheels. Her gifts of laughter and love will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, E.W. “Bill” Tatum, who passed away in 1990. She is survived by her four children, Linda (Ray) Christian of Odessa, Larry (Barbara) Tatum of Plano, Tina (Jay) Wash of Baytown and Craig Tatum of Long Beach, California. She leaves behind her husband of thirteen years, Robert Jones of Lake Tahoe (Stateline), Nevada. Grandchildren include Sherri, Steve, Lorri, Tish, Tiffany, Brandon, Brittaney and Meagan as well as eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Her greatest desire was to share her faith with her family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Nona Lee Laughlin
ODESSA — Nona Lee Laughlin, 84, of Odessa, passed away August 1, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Nona was born June 7, 1920, the second of seven children, to Troy and Maude Marshall in Comanche, TX. After attending North Texas State University, she later married
Charles E. Laughlin on December 14, 1940, in Comanche. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1993. After raising her children, Nona worked as an elementary school secretary in the Ector County School system for many years.
Following her retirement, she became a devoted student and leader in Bible Study Fellowship. She was active in her Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church, here in Odessa. Her love for music and the Lord kept her active and playing the piano with friends and family. A devoted grandmother of five, she took great pleasure in spending time playing and loving her grandchildren, especially during the summer months. Her adoring grandchildren referred to her affectionately as Nanny. Nona possessed an appreciation for literature and the arts and read regularly until the time of her death.
Nona is preceded in death by her daughter, Jo Evelyn Hanson on July 17, 2003. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Gene Laughlin and wife, Charlene, of Midland; son-in-law, D. L. Hanson of Longview, TX.; sister, Eloise Parker of Comanche, TX; five grandchildren, Laura Rooker, Lisa-Marie Listenbee, Mary Lee Pyle, Julia Ogden and Eddie Hanson; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Emma Rooker.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Paul Thornton
ODESSA — Paul Thornton, 73, passed away Saturday,
July 17, 2004, at Hospice House.
He was born July 8, 1931, in Bogata, TX., to Joe and Effie Hunt Thornton.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952.
He graduated from Bogata High School in 1948, and attended Paris Junior College and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Texas State University.
He was a long time teacher, principal and Personnel Director in Ector County Independent School District. He was the first principal at Gonzales Elementary, served as principal at numerous Elementary schools and was principal at Permian High School. He also taught in Tucson Public Schools and in Sahuarita, Ariz.
He was married
to Carolyn Jones on May 28, 1954, near Marshall, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thornton of Odessa; a daughter, Paula Thornton Grauer; son-in-law, Michael R. Grauer; and grandchildren, Matthew Finney, Hannah Grauer and Sarah Grauer of Canyon, TX. He is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Thornton and wife, Dolly Thornton, of Westcliffe, Colo., as well as a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarkson and Maxine Jones of Odessa.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Odessa.
The family has already held a memorial service. No funeral service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House, Odessa or First Presbyterian Church.
