Betty Kepple
AUSTIN — Elizabeth “Betty” June Cumming Kepple has left behind her earthly concerns and has gone forward to travel with her husband, Sam Kepple; her parents, John and Margaret Cumming; and her sister, Jenny Edwards Plum.
Betty was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., grew up in Jeannette and Greensburg, Pa., but moved to Amarillo, Texas with her husband in 1952.
In 1958, the family moved to Odessa, Texas, where she raised her four children and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, worked at the Medical Center and was a member of the British Club. In 1992, she moved to Austin in the Lakeway area and found good friends at the Bee Cave Senior Center, Hudson Bend Volunteer Fire Dept, Lake Travis United Methodist Church and loved her work at the Lake Travis Thrift Shop. Betty loved to play bingo, play the slots in Las Vegas, cruise and generally travel any chance she could.
Greatly missing her already are her children, Stuart “Dutch” Kepple, Susan and David Donaldson of Wimberley, Sharon Richardson of Las Vegas, Sam “Scott” Kepple lll, of Amarillo and Gary Richardson of Austin. Grandkids are Matthew and Shannon Donaldson of Austin and Patrina Kepple of Tyler. Family in El Paso include Ted and Norma Kepple, Kristi and Robert Wittmann, Amy and Corine, Doug and Lisa Kepple and Justin and Samuel. Family members in Baltimore, Md., are David and Greg Edwards.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2004, at the Lake Travis United Methodist Church, 1502 RR 620 N., Austin, Texas.

Margaret Luella Fox Peer
ODESSA — Margaret Luella Fox Peer went to be with her Lord on Sept. 29, 2004. She was a resident of Odessa from August 1958, until 2002 when she moved to the Younger Center of Manor Park in Midland.
Margaret was born Aug. 24, 1912, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, to John and Luella Clark Fox. The family moved to Morgantown, W.Va., in 1920. She graduated from Morgantown High School in 1930, and Ohio Valley Nursing School in Wheeling W.Va., in Sept. 1933. It was there that she met Dr. George Foster Peer, whom she married
Sept. 22, 1934. His career as a U.S. Army doctor during World War II and Korea took them to Panama as well as across the U.S. In August 1958, they moved to Odessa, where he was a prominent surgeon. He died in Feb. 1983.
She was an active member of Odessa’s First United Methodist Church, UMW and her circle, and the Fidelis Class of which she was president and treasurer for many years. She was also a member and officer of the Pioneer Study Club. For several years she volunteered at the Presidential Museum and was a supporter of the Fine Arts in Odessa, including the Midland Odessa Symphony and Chorale, Ellen Noel Art Museum, Globe Theater and Permian Playhouse.
Margaret’s family was the most important thing in her life and many activities were in support of them. She was active in Officer’s Wives activities in the Army, and Doctor’s Wives in Odessa and the Tri-County Medical Auxiliary. She enjoyed many trips with George as members and officers of the West Texas Gadabouts Trailer Club. They both spent many enjoyable hours at Sunset Country Club playing golf; following his death she participated in the women’s association. Margaret was a leader for Brownie and Girl Scouts, PTA president, Permian Band Boosters, in support of her daughter’s activities. One of her proudest achievements was the organization of Sunday School for the children of William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, John; and sister, Sarah Fox Reed. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Edney of Odessa; her grandson, Trey Jones of San Antonio, his wife, Caroline, and their daughter, Margaret Kay. Also surviving are nieces, Judy Cochran of Charlotte, N.C., Becky Alexander of Houston, Texas; and cousins, Marie Dennis of FL, Roy Smith of Virginia and Elizabeth Denham and Henry Fox of Ohio.
The family wishes to than the staff of the Younger Center in Midland and in later months the staff of Odyssey Hospice for the love and care given her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Odessa or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist with Donnie Williams officiating. Burial will be in Woodsdale cemetery in Grafton, West Virginia.

Glen Henry Barks
ODESSA — Glen Henry Barks, 70, of Odessa, died from a lengthy illness Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Weatherford.
Glen was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Caney, Ark., to John Henry and Nettie Mae Barks. He served in the U.S. Army. Glen worked as an electrician. Although he was an avid fisherman, Glen’s true passion was playing the guitar.
Glen is survived by his children, Darryl Barks of Odessa, Larry Barks of Weatherford, David Barks and wife Tammy of Fort Worth and Gary Barks and wife Susan of Weatherford; siblings, Claude Barks and wife Ovella of Hot Springs and Geneva Thomason; and grandchildren, Laredo Barks, Joshua Barks, Rebekah Barks, Micah Barks, Dylan Barks and Reagan Barks.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at the Beacon Baptist Church of Odessa with the Rev. Amon Langston officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice.

Robert Michael ‘Mike’ Bates
ODESSA — Robert Michael “Mike” Bates was killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Odessa. Mike was born June 4, 1959 in Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; several aunts; an uncle; his sister, Debbie Hefner; and stepfather, Joseph R. Mathers.
Mike is survived by his wife, Joni Bates; daughter, Tisha Bates; and father, Frank Bates, all of Odessa; and mother, Glenda Mathers of Robert Lee; Debbie’s husband, Bill Hefner; nephews, Jason Hefner and wife Sarita of Sweetwater and Jerod Hefner of Dallas; nieces, Belinda Hefner, Brooke Hefner and Kelsee Hefner. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvie and Reba Adams; sisters-in-law, Lana Howard and husband Lonnie and Kathy Nunley and husband Jimmy; and niece, Stefanie Nunley, all of Odessa; and nephews, Jay Howard and wife Jessica of Austin, Jason Nunley of Dallas and Tim Howard of Dallas; and worlds of friends.
Mike was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Sweeten of Eisenhower Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Victoria Griffin Falgout Davis
GALLIANO, La. — Victoria Griffin Falgout Davis, 75, of Odessa, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Falgout Funeral Homes Parlor with a religious service immediately following. Interment will be at Holy Rosary cemetery in Larose, La.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Arthur Joseph Falgout Sr. and Herman Davis; parents, John Frank Griffin and Ella Richoux Griffin; son, Carl Falgout Sr.; daughter, Debra Galliano; brothers, John Jr., Washington, Claude, Woodrow, Wilbur and Norman Griffin; and sister, Bertha Cantrelle.
Surviving her is son, Arthur “Archie” Falgout Jr.; six daughters, Patricia Falgout, Chryl Cormier, Julie Garcia, Christine Parks, Janice Davis and Crystol Davis; 24 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Lucilla Rodriguez Longoria
ODESSA — Lucilla Rodriguez Longoria, 77, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Barstow, Texas, to Eulogio and Maria de Jesus Rodriguez. She was a homemaker and a Christian Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Valentine Longoria; parents; brother, Arnulfo Rodriguez; and grandson, Arnulfo Rodriguez Jr.
Mrs. Longoria is survived by son, Alfredo Rodriguez and wife, Delma, of Odessa; daughters, Armida Ramirez and husband, Alfonso, of Odessa, Arcilia Ortega and husband Vivian of Odessa and Maria Rodriguez and husband Daniel of Odessa; sisters, Angelica Dutchover and husband Willie of Odessa, Basilisa Terecero of Odessa, Maria Elena Anaya and husband Sergio of Odessa and Manuela Moronez of Los Angeles, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
Pallbearers will be Alfonso Ramirez Jr., Daniel Rodriguez Jr., Ryan Sherman, Victor Anaya, Jose Anaya and Tony Anaya.

Adam Paul Figert Spears
NACOGDOCHES — Memorial services for Adam Spears were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 502 E. Starr Ave., with the Rev. Gary Dixon Hill officiating.
Adam Paul Figert Spears was born Aug. 9, 1985, in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 2002 and had completed two years of college at Stephen F. Austin State University. Adam was a music writer with music on labels such as Looq, 3Beat Breaks and for the track “Crayons” on Released Records.
Adam passed away Friday, July 30, 2004, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
He is survived his parents, Kendall and Amy Spears of Nacogdoches; brother, William K. Spears of Nacogdoches; and grandparents, William H. and Audrey Spears and Peter A. and Elaine Figert, all of Odessa.

Ollie Maye Mayfield
ODESSA — Ollie Maye Mayfield, 80, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at the Hospice House.
She was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Winters, Texas. She married
Ambers Everett Mayfield on Oct. 15, 1945, in San Angelo. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Mayfield was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Kerre Blaine Mayfield of Odessa, Marsha Leah Bowling of Odessa, Randall Everett Mayfield of Odessa and Becky Goyne of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Clydell Chapman officiating.

Max Everett Godwin
BUCKEYE, Ariz. — Max Everett Godwin, 70, went to be with Jesus our Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, after a short battle with cancer.
Max was born to Lewis and Maye Godwin on Aug. 10, 1934, in Levelland, Texas. The oldest of four children, he graduated from Lake View High School in 1952. He served as a radar man on the USS Corry DD817 in the U.S. Navy for four years. In 1964, Max moved his family to San Angelo and opened Godwin’s Carpet. For 40 years, Max sold and installed carpet in Texas and Arizona. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a man of hard work, a stunning smile and a love to share Christ with others.
Max was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Godwin Sr.; and his brother, Lewis Godwin Jr., both of Odessa.
He is survived by his wife, Glenette of Buckeye, Ariz.; his mother, Maye Godwin; brother, Phillip Godwin; sister, Kay Kennedy, all of Odessa; and the mother of his children, Jean Godwin of San Angelo. Also surviving Max are his children, oldest daughter, Patricia Godwin and Amy Wood of Chandler, Ariz.; daughter, Melissa and Alan Hill of San Angelo; son, Mike and Ellen Godwin of San Angelo; and stepson, Tracy and Kelly Bailey of Snowflake, Ariz.
Grampa Max has seven grandchildren, Amanda Hill, Shane Godwin, Alana Hill and Natalie Godwin, all of San Angelo, Brandi Jones, Lindsey Bailey and Tracy Dee Bailey of Snowflake, Ariz. He also has a 1-year-old great-grandson, Tyler Jones.
Service for Max was Saturday, Sept. 18, at First Assembly of God Church in Buckeye, Ariz.
The family requests donations in memory of Max be made to Hospice or The American Cancer Society.
