Laura Lou Carson
ODESSA — Laura Lou Carson, 74, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004, at Manor Park in Midland.
She was born December 17, 1929, in Harrah, Oklahoma to Virgil and Mattie Burleson Waner.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nick Gates officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tracy Carson; and sisters, Polly Sue Randolph and Dana Mae Harris.
Laura was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, W. H. Carson of Odessa; son, Arthur Glee Carson and wife, Thelma Lou, of Ozona; daughters, Nancy Henry and husband, Jack, of Odessa, and Roxann Corona and husband, David, of Alvin; brother, Jimmy Waner of Odessa; five grandchildren, Scotty Carson, Jacque Henry, Chrissy Carson, K. C. Carson and Misty Carson; and several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
The family would like to thank The Younger Center and Home Hospice for their caring nature and professionalism.
Iwana ‘Pinkie’ Montgomery
ODESSA — Iwana Odelle Montgomery passed away September 22, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Garden and Funeral Home, presided by Dr. David Mindel, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas.
Pinkie was born in Eldorado, Ark., on May 8, 1923. She married
Lewie Montgomery in 1944. That year, they moved to Odessa from Arkansas. Lewie preceded her in death in 1998.
Pinkie was a retired real estate broker and member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. In recent years she has lived in Seguin, Texas.
She is survived by her children, Patsy Hunt of McQueeney, Texas, Jimmy Montgomery of Houston, Texas, Douglas Manor of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren, Summer Perry, David Montgomery, Lisa Hill and Jason Hunt; ten great-grandchildren; as well as many nephews and nieces.
The family respectfully suggests memorials be made to Harmony Home Children’s Advocacy Center.
Glen Ray Perkins Jr.
ODESSA — Mr. Glen Ray Perkins Jr., 42, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at his residence in Odessa. He was born December 23, 1962, in Odessa to his parents, Glen and Dorothy Sue Bradley Perkins.
Mr. Perkins had been a fireman for the Odessa Fire Department. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Perkins.
His survivors include his father, Glen Perkins of Brownwood, TX.; his brother, Stephen William Perkins and wife, Patricia, of Florence, Kentucky; and his sister, Phylis Solomon and husband, Richard, of Odessa, TX.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Connie Boone Wilkerson
LONGVIEW — Connie Boone Wilkerson, 66, of Longview, passed away Thursday morning in her home. She was born June 30, 1938, in Mena, Arkansas to Paul Ellis and Myrtle Lynn Brewer Boone.
Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport and was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She married
her husband of 50 years, J.O Wilkerson on August 5, 1952, he preceded her in death on November 27, 2002. Along with one son, Rocky Gene Wilkerson and a daughter, Vicki Ann Wilkerson.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky Dale Wilkerson and Timothy Mark Wilkerson, both of Longview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nora Lynn and Joe Palomino of Longview and Reba J. and Richard Gilliam of White Oak; one sister, Patsy Ann Young of Dierks, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Lakeview Funeral Home Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2004, at Memory Park cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Heartsway Hospice of Longview.
Lucille Sutton-Beck
ODESSA — O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good. Because His mercy endureth forever.
Lucille Sutton-Beck, 84, of Odessa, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 23, 2004, in the ICU at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1920, in Carthage, Texas, to the parentage of Allen Sutton and Lottie Hooker-Sutton.
Mrs. Beck was a homemaker and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Emma Sutton, Robbie Sutton, Ruby Sutton and Shirley Robinson; brother, Sam Sutton; a daughter, Bunny S. Beck; a son, Howard Beck; a granddaughter, Donna Baldero; a great-grandson, Jailall Baldero; and a great-granddaughter, Bunny Terry.
Mrs. Lucille Beck is survived by two sons, Henry Bel Beck of Odessa and Harvey Harper of San Angelo; sisters, Mildred Burts and Hazel Servance (and brother-in-law the Rev. Richmond L.), both of Odessa; one brother, the Rev. Roscoe Sutton of Odessa; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27 at Martinez Funeral Home.
You may visit with Lucille at Martinez Funeral Home between 10:00 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, and 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Beck will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 W. Clements Street, with the Rev. Charles Martin officiating and the Rev. Darrell Sutton as eulogist.
Burial will follow at the Ector County cemetery’s Rose Hill section.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Medical Center Hospital ICU, Dr. R.J. Patel and all of her caregivers for their caring nature and professionalism.

Evelyn P. King
ODESSA — Evelyn P. King, age 89, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Tapley officiating.
Evelyn was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Cookville, Texas, to James and Mattie Phillips. Evelyn was a teacher, and she taught at ECISD for 27 years, mostly at Bonham Junior High. She married
Harmon L. King on June 19, 1932, and they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage together. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jimmy K. Story and husband Ernest; son, Harmon L. King Jr. and wife Toni; grandchildren, Kathleen Story, Laura J. Young, Evelyn A. Miller, Kris Tullos and Scott King; great-grandchildren, Colleen Young, Calder Young, Caleb Stricklen, Kennedy Tullos, Keegan Tullos and Sara Tullos.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Charlotte Lee Bridges
ODESSA — Charlotte was born Sept. 14, 1946, in San Angelo, Texas, to Charles and Wanda Rudd. She died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at the Hospice House in Odessa, Texas.
She was raised in Odessa, and started her nursing career as an O.R. Technician at Medical Center Hospital. She was a member of Terrace Hills Baptist Church.
On Nov. 26, 1979, she married
Larry Bridges. They moved to McKinney, Texas, where she continued her nursing career as an O.R. Technician until she received her RN in 1986 from Grayson County Community College in Sherman, Texas. She worked in McKinney until they moved back to Odessa in 1992, where she again worked for Medical Center Hospital.
Eventually, Charlotte began working for Hospice of the Southwest as a field RN, and she finished her career with Home Hospice. During that career she earned her certification as a Hospice nurse. She is remembered by her fellow employees and the families of her patients as a no-nonsense nurse who went out of her way to provide comfort, care and love.
In 2002, Charlotte was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor and after surgery and therapy, she was unable to recover. Along with other family members and friends, her husband cared for her diligently until her death. Their love for each other grew stronger during the last 2 1/2 years.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Rudd.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Bridges of Odessa; sons, Larry Roberts Jr. and wife Paula of Odessa; Chuck Roberts and wife Rhonda of Odessa; Larry Allen Bridges and wife Carolyn of Anna, Texas; and Kevin Pike and wife Kathy of Ellworth, S.C.; daughters, Sherri Keel of Princeton, Texas, Kathy Richardson and husband Clarence of Van Alstyne, Texas, and Gina Bielski and husband Andy of Bella Fontaine, Ohio; father, Charles Rudd Sr. of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Frank Rudd of San Angelo, Texas, and Charles Rudd Jr. of College Station, Texas; sisters, Debbie Mann of San Angelo, Texas, and Sandra Jones of Lorraine, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Angel.
A very special thank you goes to Pastor Mike Martin and Dr. Jimmy Braswell and to the Home Hospice Family and all their employees.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be given to the Hospice House of Odessa, or Home Hospice of Odessa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell and Pastor Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pall bearers will be Kenneth Bridges, John Penney, Charlie Penney, Kyle Penney, Skipper Hunt and Grayson Hankins. Honorary pall bearers are Jeremy Roberts, Logan Roberts, Colby Roberts, Joseph Keel, Gene Michael Keel and Kevin Pike.

Donald Edward Hayworth
ODESSA — Donald Edward Hayworth, 55, of Odessa, passed away October 4, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital. Donald was born March 4, 1949, in Big Spring, Texas, to Billy and Darlene Hayworth. He was raised in Odessa and graduated from Permian in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. On December 12, 1981, he married
Debbie Jean Ball. He was employed as a welder at Sepco in Odessa.
He is survived by his wife. Debbie Hayworth; sons, Scott and Shane of Dallas; daughter, Shantal of Odessa; his sister, Jody Hawkins of Odessa; niece, Amber Hawkins of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Kaleigh, Shadow and Trinity of Dallas.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 8, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Gatha Sheppard
ABILENE — Gatha Sheppard, 81, of San Angelo and a former longtime Abilene resident, died Monday, October 4, 2004, in San Angelo. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with her son-in-law, Rev. Ronnie Newton, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Gatha was born to Sheridan Smith and Bulah (Simpson) Smith in McKinney, Texas, on October 11, 1922. She graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1941, moving to Abilene in 1943. She married
H.A. Sheppard Jr. in Abilene, November 27, 1952. Gatha was a homemaker and a member of First Evangelical Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Shep” Sheppard in 1992; and a sister, Fern Allen.
Survivors include two sons, Guy and wife, Valerie Sheppard, of San Angelo and Grady and wife, Monica Sheppard, of Abilene; daughter, Gwen and husband, Ronnie Newton, of Odessa, Texas; sister, Ruth Sterling of Granbury, Texas; brother, John Boozer of Granbury, Texas; seven grandchildren, Audrey and Clayton Sheppard, Lauren and Brenna Sheppard, Luke Newton and wife, Kara, and John and Mark Newton; and one great-grandchild, Kaedmon Sheppard.
Gatha’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to express our sincerest thanks for the care and support provided by the staff at Baptist Memorial’s Geriatric Center and to her senior companion, Murlene Matthews.
