H.L. ‘Johnny’ Ashcraft

DENVER CITY — Graveside services for H.L. “Johnny” Ashcraft, 80, of Denver City, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004, for family and friends at Denver City Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Denver City with the Rev. Steve Brooks officiating. Mr. Ashcraft passed away Monday, October 4, 2004, at his home in Denver City. Arrangements are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Johnny was born May 21, 1924, in Cale, Arkansas. He married Nina Autrey on October 11, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific, Scotland and North Africa with the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945. He began his oilfield career in Pecos in 1948 and worked in numerous fields in the Permian Basin before settling in Denver City. Johnny founded Production Fishing and Rental Tools Inc. in 1965. He was a member of the Denver City Masonic Lodge No. 1278. He was on the board of directors of Yoakum County State Bank. He loved fishing, hunting, golf and any competitive endeavor. A good joke on himself or someone he loved was not out of the question.
He was preceded in death by his adopted son, Timmy Ashcraft.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Nina of Denver City; daughter, Susi Bickley and her husband, Mike, of Fort Worth; sister, Betty Jean Parker of Twentynine Palms, California; grandchildren, Melanie Greene and husband, Andy, of Austin, T.K. Harrison and husband, Blake, of Houston, and Josh Bickley of Denton; one great-grandchild, Caroline Greene; and his cousin and longtime business partner, Tearl Covington and his wife, Linda.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, at Ratliff Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Denver City or to the Melanoma Unit of M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Dwayne Hardeman

WOLFE CITY — Roy Dwayne Hardeman, born April 7, 1929, and died October 3, 2004. He was born in Hunt County, Texas, to parents James Thomas and Willie Turner Hardeman. After a lengthy illness, he left to be with our Lord while at his residence in San Angelo, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Thames Hardeman; daughters, Judy Devonne Hardeman and Janet Elaine Cook; one son, Charles Dwayne Hardeman; one sister, Reba Scott; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three nephews and one niece.
A United States Army Veteran, Dwayne worked in the oil fields all over the Permian Basin and owned and operated Crane Hot Oil Services until his retirement to San Angelo, Texas, in 1993.
Private services with burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2004, at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Wolfe City, Texas.
Arrangements under the direction of R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home.

Marie Brindle

ODESSA — Marie Brindle went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2004 after a long illness. The fourth of five children, Marie was born in 1935 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Claude and Estelle Bogges. She married Bill Brindle in 1950, then shortly there after moved to Odessa, Texas. While living in Odessa she gave life to three wonderful children, Gayla, Larry and Steve. Through the years she helped out with the family business, attended Aladdin Beauty College, and Odessa College studying Psychology. Marie loved her children and those that her children loved, Eugene, Arita, and Lanie, were, in her eyes, just like her own children. As her family grew, Marie became the proud and loving grandmother of 10, Chad, Kirk, Julie, Patrick, Larry Gail, Joshua, Christopher, Gabriel, Dustin, and Athena. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart and took great interest in all their activities. Later she became a proud and loving great grandmother of 7, Nancy, Bobby Joe, Michael, Jesse, Austin, Adam and Cooper. All of whom, were her little angels. Marie’s sister Wanda and brother-in-law Glen Broddrick of Austin, Texas and her brother Carol Bogges and sister-in-law Ruby of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, will miss her dearly. There are no words to describe the love she felt for her brother and sister and their families. Marie touched many lives and had many friends that she treasured. All those that knew her are deeply saddened by her passing. Brother Roy, sister Claudaha and daughter Rhonda preceded her in passing.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Friday in Sayre Doxey cemetery in Sayre, Oklahoma.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Sammy ‘Sam’ Levario

ODESSA — Sammy “Sam” Levario, 41, of Odessa, passed away Saturday October 9, 2004, in Midland, Texas He was born October 14, 1962, in Odessa, Texas to Adam Levario and Magdalena Armendariz.
He was a Christian Catholic, a welder’s helper in the Oilfield Industry and an Avid baseball fan. Since the 1980’s, “Sams’” biggest passion and love was the coaching of little league baseball with over ten year’s experience. His role not only as “Coach” known to his little league ball players, but also by becoming and having a major role in the bond and friendship he developed with everyone who came or whom he would go to, especially with the southside little league community. Today his teammates remember his quick wits and joking attitude along with his coaching techniques, as parents lets remember the respect and discipline that “Sam” taught and demanded from his ball players, only to be used towards the accomplishments and goals of our children and families. He will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace “Coach.”
He was preceded in death by sister, Sylvia Levario and grandparents, Ramon and Ignacia Levario and Justo and Trinidad Armendariz. He is survived by his sons, Cirrus Angelo Levario and Christopher Levario of Waco, Texas; daughter, Lillie Summer Levario of Wilcox, Arizona; mother, Magdalena Levario; father, Adam Levario; step-mother, Martha Levario; two brothers, Sonny Levario and Leroy Armendariz; four sisters, Sally Lopez and husband, Ramon, Susie Garza and husband, Ricardo, Alexa Levario and Rhonda Levario, all from Odessa; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of friends.
A prayer service and a rosary were held Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home.
We the family would like to take this time to express to each and every one of you, our utmost sincere gratitude for all your flowers and food offerings especially for your presence and prayers with us. May the Lord Bless you abundantly for all your kindness and love. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Sonny and Leroy; brother-in- law, Ricardo Garza; nephews, Carlos Segura, Lando and Anthony Rosas; and his best friends, Oscar Castillo, Adam Gonzales, Sammy Ramirez, Paul “Paco” Navarette and Sammy Carrasco.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 13, 2004, at Iglesia Bautista Filadelfia, located on the corner of W. 10th and Dotsy Ave. with the Rev. Benny Ramirez officiating, Interment to follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

C. B. Wilburn

ABILENE — Former longtime Abilene resident C. B. Wilburn passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at a nursing home in Odessa.
He was born in Taylor County on April 21, 1915, and spent all of his life in and around Abilene and Merkel. He married the former Thelma Beatty, and moved with her to Midland-Odessa in 1999. He was retired from Abilene State School, and was a member of Minter Lane Church of Christ.
Mr. Wilburn is survived by his wife; his son, Leon Wilburn, of Waxahachie, Texas; daughters, Deloris Ulke of Houston, and Emory Mansour of Midland; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Leda Bright of Waxahachie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Norman Wilburn; two grandsons, Scott Ulke and Cody Mansour; and his beloved son-in-law, Jerry Ulke, along with his only brother and five sisters.
Services will be held under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, in Abilene at Minter Lane Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, with Ed Brokaw officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Jacquelyn Michelle Bryant

ODESSA — Jacquelyn Michelle Bryant, 42 of Odessa, Texas passed away on October 8, 2004 at home. She was born January 13, 1962 to Woodrow and Marion Bryant in Gainesville, Texas. She graduated from S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1980. She received her Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Midwestern State University of Wichita Falls in 1984. She completed her teachers certification in 1997 at the University of Texas at the Permian Basin.
Jacquelyn was a dedicated teacher at Hood Junior High in Odessa, Texas. She loved collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, traveling and playing with her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her parents Woodrow and Marion Bryant of Denver City, grandmother Janelle Pogue of Gainesville, brothers Stephen Bryant and wife Thresser of Odessa Woody Bryant II and wife Bresha of Austin, sisters Patrea Bryant of Odessa, Lydia Bryant Williams of Carlsbad, NM, nieces and nephews Johnny Taylor, Cameron Bryant, Woody Bryant II, Milann Bryant and McKenna Bryant and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday at St. Matthew Baptist Church 809 Barrett Drive in Odessa. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 at 6-8 pm at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors 4635 Oakwood Drive in Odessa.

Francis Johnson

ODESSA — Francis Johnson, 86, of Odessa, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Sienna Nursing Home in Odessa.
He was born June 28, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Francis and Emily Johnson.
Funeral services are pending in Calverton, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He served in Burma, India.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and sisters, Christine, Edith and Nellie.
He is survived by wife, Anastasia Johnson of Odessa; sons, Kenneth Johnson and wife Nancy of Ocala, Fla., and Barrie Johnson and wife Joëlle of Rockville Center, N.Y., and James Johnson of Odessa; and grandsons, Kenneth and Brian; numerous nephews and one niece.

Claire Andrews Casey

ODESSA — Claire Andrews Casey passed away Friday October 8, 2004 with her family at her side peacefully at home.
Services for Claire A. Casey a retired RN and homemaker of Odessa are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Kevin Bushart and Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens
Mrs. Casey was born in North Adams, Massachusetts August 10, 1928. She married Richard Casey March 24, 1946 in Long Beach, California. Mrs. Casey had lived in Odessa for 41 years.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband of 58 years in their motor home. Her greatest joys were spending time with all her grandchildren and going to MOJO football games.
She was a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church and Floyd Easterling Order of the Eastern Star. Claire attended Tarlleton State and Odessa College.
Survivors include her husband Richard Casey of Odessa, three daughters Sharon Riley of Odessa, Carol Weatherford of Odessa, Kathy Nelson of Lewisville, Texas and one son Bob Casey of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, a brother James Andrews of Las Vegas, Nevada, 7 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to the Kidney Foundation or Home Hospice of Odessa
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

James ‘Jim’ G. Clarke

LEWISVILLE — James “Jim” G. Clarke, 57, of Hickory Creek, Texas passed away at his home in Hickory Creek on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.
He was born on March 31, 1947 in Amarillo the son of John and Jane Ames Clarke. He married Karen Parman in Clayton, N.M. on Sept. 4,1971. Jim was a devoted employee acting as a District Sales Manager for ABF for more than 25 years.
Jim loved to be in the outdoors, even when it rained! He could play just about any instrument and loved his music. He was dedicated to his Country and his City and showed it in anyway he could. He served as Mayor of Hickory Creek from 2000 until May 2004.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14,2004 at 2 p.m. at Swisher cemetery in Lake Dallas, Texas.
Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 from 6 until 9 p.m. at Dalton and Son Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas.
To make lasting tribute, memorial donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.
Mr. Clarke is survived by: Wife: Karen Clarke of Hickory Creek, TX; sons: James Clarke of Hickory Creek, TX, and Christopher Clarke of Hickory Creek, TX; daughters, Bonny Haynes and her husband Jay of Argyle, Texas, Cindy Weaver and her husband Jack of Houston, TX, seven grandchildren; three brothers, John Clarke of Odessa, TX, Calvin Clarke of Wichita Falls, TX, and Mike Clarke of Amarillo, TX; three sisters: Nancy Wansley of Amarillo, TX, Joan Saunders of Slidell, LA, and Cindy O’Neill of Amarillo, TX
He is also survived by a host of extended family and close friends from his work and through his civic affiliations.
He was preceded in-death by his parents, John and Jane Clarke.
The family of Mr. Clarke is being served by Dalton and Son Funeral Home of Lewisville, Texas.
