Sandra G. ‘Sandy’ Duzan
ODESSA — Sandy Duzan, 57, passed from this life Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was the fifth child born to Samuel M. and Nellie J. “Jackie” Rogers on October 18, 1946, in Longview, Texas. She married
Robert L. Duzan on April 27, 1996, in Odessa, She worked at Texas Commission for the Blind. She was a faithful member of Sherwood Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Duzan; mother, Nellie J. “Jackie” Rogers; stepson, Kevin Duzan and wife, Kathy; stepdaughter, Shelly Roggendorff and husband, Paul; and her grandchildren, Nick, Sydney and Taylor Duzan and Chris Roggendorff. She is also survived by her three brothers, Royce Rogers and wife, Sue, Ronny Rogers and wife, Carol, and Sam Rogers; three sisters, Ruth Buchanan, Glenda Weaver and husband, Curtis, and Peggy Odom and husband, Virgil; her aunt, Annie Jo Counts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandy will be greatly missed because she spent her life loving and serving others.
There will be a visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at Sherwood Church of Christ with Lynn Money and Barry Galindo officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Odessa Christian School, 2000 Doran, Odessa, TX 79761.

Elizabeth Anderson Jones
ODESSA — Elizabeth Anderson Jones went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2004, after a brief illness. Services will be held in the chapel of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas, at 2 p.m. Wednesday September 1. Burial will be at Andrews cemetery.
Beth, as she was known by all her friends, was born November 17, 1915, in San Saba, Texas, and came to Odessa in 1973 by way of Andrews. She was married
to John Paul Jones on November 26, 1935, in Breckenridge, Texas. After the death of her husband, she later married
Frank Jones. She retired from Andrews Abstract Co. after 33 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was selected to appear in the 1971 edition of Personalities of the South for recognition of past achievements and outstanding service to the community and state. Beth served her country in civil service work at Midland Air Field during WWII. Beth was a charter member of the Andrews-Gaines County Legal Secretaries Association and served as president and treasurer. Beth was also an established Arthur Murray dancer who loved to dance the Tango.
Beth was preceded in death by her husbands, John Paul Jones and Frank Jones; her brother, Donald W. Cheek; and her son, Donald Paul Jones.
Survivors include her grandsons, Chris L. Jones and his wife, Dawn, their son, Tyler Eugene and Kevin Mark Smith and his wife, Mona, and their daughters, Emily, Lindsay and Kelsey.

Sharon Elaine Slocumb
ODESSA — Sharon Elaine Slocumb, 56, a longtime resident of Odessa passed away Monday, August 30, 2004, at the Hospice House. She was born January 23, 1948, in Sweetwater. She graduated from Borden County High School in Gail, Texas. She attended Howard Junior College and North Texas University. She was secretary for RADCO Imaging. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; aunts and uncles; and grandson, Austyn Jordan.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Slocumb of Odessa; son, Steve Slocumb and wife, Billie Sue, of Calif.; daughters, Jessica Jean Jordan and husband, Archie and Tracey Michelle Jordan and husband, Charley, all of Odessa and Angela Slocumb of Allen, Texas; her parents, G.W. and Jean Wilkerson of Odessa; brother, Gary Wilkerson and wife, Lou Ann, of Comanche, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Tatiana, Nathan, Sarah, G.W., Savanna, Taylor, Rylee, Andy, Bryan, Ryan, Chris and Patrick.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society local fund.

Carolyn Lee Willis
ODESSA — Carolyn Lee Willis, 60, of Odessa, passed away Monday, August 30, 2004, at the Hospice House. She was born January 3, 1944, in Dublin, Texas. She was a secretary for Texas Tech Medical Health Sciences Center. She was a loving Mom, Maw Maw, sister and friend.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Brandon Willis and wife, Tracy, of Odessa; brothers, Kenneth Archer and Everett Archer and wife, Doris, all of Odessa; two grandchildren, Colton Willis and Baleigh Willis; and best friend; Ann Hughes of Odessa.
There will be a visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Riley officiating.

Ava Brownlee Van Bramer
LONGVIEW — Funeral services for Ava Brownlee Van Bramer, 85, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 1, 2004, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Longview with the Rev. Steve Cochran officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Van Bramer died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, in a Longview hospital. She was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Nimrod and had been a resident of Longview for the past 3 1/2 years, moving from Odessa. She was a longtime resident of Odessa, where she was a member of the Second Baptist Church and later was an active member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Van Bramer enjoyed hand work, sewing and cooking. After moving to Longview, she joined the First Baptist Church and was an Ambassador of Buckner Westminster Place, where she was proud to be a resident.
Mrs. Van Bramer was preceded in death by her first husband C.F. Brownlee in 1979, and her husband Roger Van Bramer in 2000.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law, Max and Cindi Brownlee of Boulder, Colo., and Don and Pat Brownlee of Hallsville; grandchildren, Aimee, Beau, Blake, Bradley and Blaire Brownlee; brother and sisters-in-law, W.H. Munn and his wife Troy, and Ruth Munn, all of Odessa; stepson, David Van Bramer and his wife Kay of Pow; stepdaughters, Comilla Thompson of Houston and Jo Rita Olliff of Odessa; grandson, Tim Brownlee of Boulder, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Socorro Brown
McCAMEY — Socorro Brown, born in and longtime resident of McCamey, has died. She was 65.
Mrs. Brown died on Monday morning at the caring hands of the Hospice House in Odessa at 5 a.m., surrounded by her family. Mrs. Brown had a long bout with rheumatoid lupus, Mylodisplacia and raynards.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Apolinar Acosta; her son, Michael Acosta; her parents, Antonio and Hermerhilda Martinez; her brothers Jose, Luis, Bonefacio, and Gilberto Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, James Brown of McCamey; a sister, Irene Aguero of Kerrville; her daughter, Linda Martinez and husband Willie Martinez of McCamey; four sons, Ruben Acosta and his wife Alma, Sammy Acosta and his wife Sarah, Bobby Acosta and his wife Teresa Perez, and David Acosta and his fiance Melinda Baiza, all of McCamey. Her 23 grandchildren, Vanessa Zuniga and husband Martin of Lake McQueeney, Texas, Albert Martinez and fiance Yolanda Alvarez of Port Isabel, Texas, Amy Acosta of McCamey, Michael and Kristi Acosta of San Angelo, Anna Marie Bravo and husband Trino Bravo of Willis, Texas, Paul Acosta and his wife Rula of McCamey, Tiffany Acosta of Montgomery, Texas, Josh, Bret, and Sean of McCamey, Texas, Gabriel and Daniel Acosta of McCamey, Daniel Perez and Eric Ibarra of McCamey, Krystal and Ryan Acosta of San Antonio, Miranda and Brandon Pineda of McCamey. Her 9 great-grandchildren Alyson and Caleb Zuniga, Devin Antonio Acosta, Trino Jr., Jasmine, Zachary, and Dominic Bravo, Laken Acosta, and Trevyerre Prince. Those she knew to be like parents, Alicia and Luis Frausto of Hobbs, New Mexico, and her cousin she knew to be a sister, Molly Heredia and husband of Hobbs, N.M., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandma will always be remembered for opening her home to feed scrumptious meals to friends of her children, as well as feeding her grandchildren at lunch during school days. Her yells to the Mighty Badgers on Friday nights will be remembered and greatly missed..”dig-in and hold ‘em Mighty Badgers, hold ‘em!”….shall her chants continue to ring in the stands. Many may be breathing a sigh of relief to know she won’t be there to ridicule you for leaving the game before the band played the alma mater. Her display of love and affection for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will surely be missed by them. May she live in their hearts and finally rest in peace with her maker, which she truly deserves.
Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Rene’ Carrasco
DENVER CITY — Rene’ Carrasco, 13, of Denver City, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, in Lubbock.
Rosary services will be said at 8 p.m. today at St. Williams Catholic Church.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Father Joe Chorikavunkal officiating. Interment will follow at Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
Rene’ was born April 9, 1991 in Seminole. He was an eighth-grade student at Bill Gravitt Junior High School, where he played seventh-grade football and participated in the UIL Math Program. He was also active in Little Dribblers and Tee Ball. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, where he had been an altar server since he was 9-years-old.
He is survived by his parents, Rogelio and Gloria Carrasco of Denver City; two brothers, Rogelio Carrasco Jr. and Adan Rodriguez Jr., both of Denver City; a sister, Vanessa Carrasco of Denver City; and grandparents, Jose M. Gonzales and Adelina Carrasco, both of Denver City.
Tub Muncrief
CARLSBAD, N.M. — Tub Muncrief was born on October 30, 1954, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Sonny and Rea Muncrief. He was taken from this earth on August 28, 2004.
He is survived by his parents, Sonny and Rea of Carlsbad; daughters, Christy Muncrief of San Antonio, Lisa Nesbit and husband, Curtis, of Carlsbad and Megan Muncrief of San Antonio; granddaughter, Jaycie Nesbit of Carlsbad; sister, Marilla Denny and husband, Jim, of Carlsbad; brother, Rex Muncrief and wife, Lynette, of Las Cruces; Cathy Muncrief of Midland; and many loving friends and family members.
Tub was a loving son, brother, father and PaPa. He was the President of the Cossacks MC Goldsmith Chapter and an avid supporter and organizer of many Children’s Charity drives. He was a member of the American Legion and owner of Muncrief Automotive in Odessa, Texas. Tub touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 1, 2004, at The Buckhorn in Goldsmith by the Cossacks Motorcyle Club and also at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Cavern Baptist Church in Carlsbad, N.M.

Anna Dee Phelps O’Brien
ODESSA — Anna Dee Phelps O’Brien, 90, passed away Aug. 31, 2004 in Odessa.
She was born January 4, 1914 in Alpine. Anna Dee was born and raised in Alpine where she graduated high school as Valedictorian and attended Sul Ross University, where she pursued a career in teaching.
She married
the love of her life, A.A. “Jack” O’Brien in 1936, moved to the O’Brien Ranch, and began her teaching. Anna Dee was very active in the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Wednesday Study Club, Garden Club and CWF. She was devoted to her family and friends and extremely loved by them.
Mrs. O’Brien was preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Phelphs; her father, William Phelphs; her brother, William Phelphs, II; and her beloved husband, Jack O’Brien.
Anna Dee is survived by her three sisters-in-law, Georgie O’Brien Clements, Marge Verge O’Brien, and Polly O’Brien Massey; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, beginning at 10:30 a.m., with Bill Newberry officiating.
The graveside services will follow at the Elm Grove cemetery in Alpine, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services/ Jackie Harkey.
