Rita Natividad Fuentes
ODESSA — Rita Natividad Fuentes, 82, of Odessa, passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at the Hospice House in Odessa.
She was born on May 22, 1922 in Toyahvale. She married
Crespin Contreras Fuentes in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1987 as did her parents; Bonifacio & Julia Natividad, brothers; Julian and Santiago Natividad, sister; Rosa Rodriguez. Surviving are her sons; Rufus and wife Lucy Fuentes, Leo and wife Mary Nell Fuentes, Gene Fuentes and Henry Fuentes, all of Odessa, daughters; Alifonsa and husband Frank Vasquez, Agripina and Carlos Lara, Eralda Rodriguez, Velma and Joe Gallardo all of Odessa, Elisa Young of Lubbock and Fala and Jeff Mosansky of Costa Mesa, CA, brothers; Pedro Natividad of El Paso, Benito Natividad of Farmers Branch, sisters; Rufina Rayos of Pecos and Catarina Lara of Odessa, 40 grandchidren, 54 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bobby Fuentes, Jerry Vasquez, Jessie Veliz, Stephen Fuentes, Michael Rodriguez and Jaime Fuentes.

Jackie Talmadge King
ODESSA — J.T. King passed peacefully from this earthly life at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept 3. He was surrounded by family members who knew him best and love him the most.
J.T. King was born on Jan. 19, 1924, son of Garland and Ina Griffin King in Tahoka. He graduated from Williams High School in 1941 and attended Texas Tech before marrying the love of his life, Brownie Lancaster, in San Diego on July 22, 1942. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943, serving in the Pacific Theatre and the post-war occupation of China as an exemplary member of the world’s “Greatest Generation”.
J.T. returned home to graduate from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos, under the G.I. Bill, where he played football and tennis.
Upon graduation, he moved his family to Odessa in the late 1940’s to work for Shell Oil Company. J.T. was then hired by ECISD to coach and teach; thereby, fulfilling a life long dream and passion.
He coached and taught in the community he loved for 33 years before retiring in 1985. The profound impact of his positive influence will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
First and foremost a Christian, J.T. was an active member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ Congregation from its inception in 1955 and was also involved with the Dougherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland. J.T. excelled at gardening, fishing, and studied the Bible on a daily basis.
J.T.’s father, mother, two brothers and great-grandchild, Alleen Garnett, precede him in death. Survivors include his wife Brownie Lancaster King; four children and their spouses, Jackie and David Tomme of Longview, James and Kathy Namken King of Odessa, Kade and Monica Mabry King of San Antonio, and Beth King Nock and Fred Nock, also of San Antonio; and sister Mary Lou King of Breckenridge. Surviving grandchildren are Jay Tomme of Longview, Melanie Tomme Garnett and Derrick of Colorado City, Jason King of Odessa, Dustin and Melissa Rayborn King of Flower Mound, Amanda King of Austin, Megan and Coleman Nock of San Antonio and great-grandchildren Maddie Garnett and Katie King.
Family will received visitors from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Services will be at noon today at the Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Eisenhower Youth Fund.

Windall ‘Shorty’ Powell
ODESSA — Windall “Shorty” Powell, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004, at his residence. He was born December 6, 1911, in Gatesville. He was a Fishing Tool operator for 45 years. He was a WWII Army veteran. He was a 32-degree Mason and a Shriner.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Powell and Gayle Powell, both of Odessa and one grandson, Levi Powell.
Masonic graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Minnie Cahela
COMANCHE — Minnie "Butch" Cahela, 91, of Wichita Falls, a retired real estate agent, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at a Hospice center in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Garden of Memories. Arrangements by Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
She was born in Lamesa and had lived in Wichita Falls for five years. She was Baptist.

Jack Crawley
ODESSA — Jack Boyd Crawley, 76, of Odessa, a retired teacher and coach, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Hawk officiating. Military graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Simpson cemetery in Kokomo, Texas. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Eastland County and had lived in Odessa since 1957. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was Methodist.

Clyde Davee
ANDREWS — Clyde Luke Davee, 85, of Perry, Ga., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in Perry Houston County Hospital in Perry, Ga.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Andrews Old cemetery with the Rev. Bob Gardner officiating. Local arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
He was born in Goldthwaite and moved to Perry, Ga., in 1978 from Fort Worth.
SURVIVORS: Son, Ronald Davee of Warren, Ore.; daughters, Betty Ezell of Fort Worth and Carolyn Watkins of Irving; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

PECOS — Mary Oglesby Evans, 47, of Pecos, a teacher, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at Mount Evergreen cemetery.

She was born in Pecos and was a lifelong resident. She was Episcopalian.

She was born in Gonzales. She was Baptist.

ODESSA — Domingo Hernandez, 58, of Odessa, a retired water supplier, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Seguin.

ODESSA — Vernon Hughes, 84, of Odessa, a retired gas plant operator, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Stephens County and moved to Odessa in 1947 from Fort Worth. He was Baptist.

MONTAGUE — Hazel Juanita Hester McCullar, 82, of Bowie, a retired teacher, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Nocona General Hospital in Nocona.
Graveside services were held Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Montague cemetery with the Rev. Paul Henderson officiating.
