‘J.C.’ James Carol Burleson ‘Pop’
ODESSA - “J. C.” James Carol “Pop” Burleson, 69, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2004, at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 15, 1935, in Winfield, Ala. He married
Romia McClain Nov. 20, 1952, in Lovington, N.M. He was a two-time survivor of cancer. He was a family man and enjoyed working on his land. He also enjoyed metal and woodworking. He worked as a truck driver in the oilfield.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ella Burleson; three brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Johnny Clark; and grandson, James Paul Brunner.
He is survived by his wife, Romia Burleson of Odessa; three sons, Bill Burleson and Sue, Richard Burleson and Julia and Gayland Burleson and Cindy, all of Odessa; three daughters, Carol Campbell and Gary of Gulf Breeze, Fla., LaVon Lewis and Philip of Odessa and Lisa Brunner and Larry of Hobbs, N.M.; brother, Tom Burleson of Battlecreek, Mich.; sister, Dorothy Conway of Winfield, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie, Kristy, Brian, Justin, Michael, Larry Warren, Misty, Kevin, Troy, Kelsey, Christopher, Alex and Cody; and two great-grandchildren, Raymond, Dameon and one on the way. Also many friends.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Mitchell, Joe Whitley, Toby Bullard, Russell McBride, Mike McBride and John Smitz.
There will be a visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Home Hospice.

Jerry Duane Redmon
Monahans - Jerry Duane Redmon, 65, of Monahans, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2004, at Third and Dwight Church of Christ, with Greg Holly officiating. Burial will follow in Monahans Memorial cemetery, under the direction of Family Funeral Services/ Jackie Harkey.
He was born January 12, 1939, in Cement, Oklahoma, to Woodrow Wilson and Ruby (Robertson) Redmon.
He attended Monahans schools through the 11th grade. He joined the Army on January 12, 1956. While in the Army he earned his G.E.D. He married
Kathleen Sears on June 9, 1956, in Monahans. In 1965, he attended Hobbs Junior College for two years, while working for El Paso Natural Gas Co. In 1967, he worked overseas for Pool Company, and after 18 years he left as Operation Manager. After returning to Monahans, he operated the Yellow Rose for 18 years, until his death.
Jerry enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family and his friends. He was a very generous and kind person and made many friends everywhere he went.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Redmon of Monahans; one son, Michael Redmon and wife Dawn of Fort Stockton; two daughters, Kathy Marie Pena and husband Emiliano, and Jerri Ann McGowan and husband Daren, all of Monahans; brothers, Paul Redmon of Odessa and Glen Redmon of Robert Lee; sisters, Myrtle Weiser of Tempe, Arizona, and Linda Holroyd of Cave Creek, Arizona; and also 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Willie Sears, whom he thought of as his Mom; a brother-in-law, Jack Collier of Monahans; and two sisters-in-law, Anita Sears Alexander of Monahans and Marie Sears MacLeod of West Palm Beach, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow W. and Ruby Robertson Redmon; his sister, Phyllis Collier; and his brother, Joe Bryan Redmon.
Joyce Elder
ODESSA - Joyce Elder, 75, of Odessa, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Hospice House.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Frank W. Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Troy Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Joyce was born to O.C and Clydia Adams Calvert on August 27, 1929. She married
Forrest D. Elder on August 11, 1950. Her life long love of photography began at Morgans Studio where she created family and Senior portraits for local students of all High Schools. She was a member of Temple Baptist and later Immanuel Baptist churches.
She was preceded in death by Forrest in 1996, her son, Kirby in 1995, and her nephew, Ricky Stanley in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Mike Ybaben; her grandchildren, Brandi Pool, and Jott Poll and wife, Nancy; seven grandchildren; brother, O.C Calvert Jr.; sister, Barbara Stanley; and nephews, Corky Stanley, and Robert, James, Gene and Trey Calvert.
Patsy Fryar
ODESSA - Patsy Fryar, 70, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Frank W. Wilson Chapel with Rev. Kevin Bushart officiating.
Patsy was born in Brigsdale, Colorado, on July 7, 1934, to Clifford and Dorothy Godsy Freeman. She had retired in 1998 from Medical Center Hospital where she was employed as a pharmacist.
Throughout her pharmaceutical career she had also worked in Abilene, Big Spring, Houston and Odessa. She married
Thomas Fryar September 27, 1957, in Thomas, Oklahoma.
Patsy loved young people and became a mentor to them. She help put several kids through college, some earned degrees in pharmaceuticals and one became a physicist.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Fryar of Odessa and her brother, Jim Freeman of Krebbs, Oklahoma.

Price McKinley Hager
ODESSA - Price McKinley Hager, 81, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at the Avalon Nursing Home. He was born July 20, 1923, in Mangum, Okla. He was a retired salesman for Baker Service Tool. He was a member of Sherwood Church Of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hager of Odessa; son, Price G. Hager and wife, J’Nell, of Odessa; daughter, Judy A. Thomason of Odessa; brother, Earl Hager and wife, Beatrice, of Willow, Okla.; six grandchildren, Robbie Hager, Erika Hager, Kesa Larson and husband, Lucas, David Thomason and wife, Christy, T’Leah Hager and D’Lisa Wade; and seven great-grandchildren, Chasni Hager, Crystal Beane, Ocean Hager, Tish Beane, Madi Thomason, Abi Thomason and Logan Larson.

Barnie Ray ‘B.R.’ Jones
ODESSA - Barnie Ray Jones, well known and respected businessman in Odessa for more than half a century passed, away at his home Monday, November 29, 2004.
Born May 27, 1926, in Big Spring, one of six sons of Abe and Fannie Mae Jones. Barnie moved to Odessa in 1942, where he worked in the oil fields until 1952, when he co-founded Jones Bros Dirt & Paving Contractors, Inc.
He was a very loving and generous man who always had time to greet you with a smile and his symbolic handshake. He loved people and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with his community, friends and family.
Barnie was a member of Temple Baptist Church. His past memberships included the Odessa Chamber Of Commerce, West Texas Chamber of Commerce, Texas Police Association, Sheriff’s Posse, 32nd Mason member of H.A. McFarland Lodge #1338 Odessa, Scottish Rites Bodies, El Maida Temple El Paso, and the Chuck Wagon Gang. Past honors include 1990 American Business Women’s Association “Boss Of The Year”, 1993 Chamber of Commerce “Odessa Small Business Person Of the Year”, and 2002 Heritage of Odessa Foundation honored him for his Significant Contributions in Business. He was Area Chairman of West Texas Assoc. of General Contractors of America in 1968, in 1972-74 State Director of Associated General Contractors,1975 State Director of Texas Hot Mix Asphalt Association of America, 2001 Board of Directors of AGC of Texas, Director of Odessa Industrial Foundation of America, Director of three area Banks, and director of Sandhills Hereford and Quarter Horse Show. He was a valued community leader and was an avid supporter of UTPB and Odessa College. He loved fishing, hunting, ranching and RV’ing.
He is survived by his wife, LaCretia; four sons, Rex Chitty of Odessa, Justin Jones of Daytona Beach, Florida, Kirk Chitty Odem, TX, and Kyle Chitty of Odessa; and one daughter, Tammie Jones of Odessa; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Troy and Earl Jones of Odessa; and 20 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bobby, R.L. “Slim” and J. W. “Curley” Jones.
Visitation will be Thursday night, December 2, 2004, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Final services will be Friday, December 3, 2004, 10 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 1000 North Texas, with Dr. Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Charles Carlson, Dwayne Crawford, Sam Holloman, Tom Johnson, Bill McCoy and Dwain McMillan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Michelson, Jarbo Wright and Louis Rochester.

MIDLAND Willie Cleo Taylor, 73, of Midland, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2004, at the Hospice House. She was a former longtime resident of Odessa. She was born March 7, 1931, in Cadiz, TX. She married
Ray Taylor Oct. 14, 1978, in Odessa.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Taylor of Midland; sons, David Eggleston of Lake George, Colo., and Dennis Eggleston of Philipsburg, N.J.; daughters, Dyann Smith of Fairview, TX., and Darla Grant of Odessa; brother, Carl Armstrong of Olton, TX.; sister, Lillie Faye Kennedy of Brady, TX; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2004, at Manor Park, 2208 N. Loop 250, Midland TX., with Rev. Pete Campbell officiating.

She was born December 6, 1975, to Eddie Gardner and Betty Sue Sant Gardner in Midland, Texas, where she was raised and educated. On August 25, 1993, she married
Gregory Altman, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Claude Sant, Lou and Robert Summar and Floyd Gardner; great uncle, Alvin Lemens; father-in-law, Emory Altman; aunt, Gertie Lou Harwell and great-grandparents, Frank and Gertie Lyles.
Windy is survived by her husband, Gregory Altman, Sr. and her son, Gregory Altman II of Midland, TX; father, Eddie Gardner; mother and stepfather, Betty S. Kitts and Glenn Kitts; brother, Douglas Gardner; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grace and Paul Bevins; uncle, Walter Grimmitt; great-aunt, Myrtle Lemens; aunts, Claudett Wynne and Denise Chambers; 10 nieces and nephews; grandmother, Willie Mattson; three sisters-in-law and several cousins and friends.

Ethel Mae McCleery
ODESSA - Ethel Mae McCleery was called home on December 3, 2004, at the age of 82. She was born to Thomas D. and Effie M. Boyd on October 10, 1922, in Benjamin, TX. She later married
William R. McCleery, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Marvin R. and Kathleen McCleery; granddaughters, Melody R. Chavez and Ginger C. Owczarzak; great-grandsons, Dennis Chavez and Noah Chavez, all of San Antonio TX; and other family members throughout Texas.
